Thread: we dropped the ball

The simple fact of the matter, is the information is HERE. Right up above in the clickies. I KNOW Nick as posted ad nauseum in the Corr forums. To come in here and basically say "What are your top 3 issues" is a slap in the face. Its offensive to those of us that have CONSTANTLY written up detailed, well thought out, nonflaming posts about whats wrong with us and what we would like to see. Its offensive to those of us who have written countless bug reports. Its offensive to those of us who have worked our asses off here to improve things.

Helios or Blix or whomever could have taken one look at our stickies up top...Just read the initial post...Summarized it and came back and said "OK....I've reviewed your issues....This is what we can do IMMEDIATELY. (and listed whatever) What do you want to see happen?"

Time would have been saved, which equals money to them.

Very true,

However the core damage dealing *should* already be there and not need to be made viable via an expansion. That core damage needs to be accessible easily by -anyone- who takes up the profession regardless if they do or do not own ToW.

For those commandos that will not have ToW, those who are new, or those who simply won't buy the expansion...the very idea that they will have to get a friend to do mustufar quests, and give them the new ToW Heavy Weapons indirectly in order to produce better damage or something equilvent to a "5", in itself says there is something wrong with the picture. At least, that's my opinion.

The whole "dropping the ball" thing, especially when saying it is by the community, really annoys me to no end.

Quit Brown-nosing!

The Commando community had done everything it possibly could in the past short of approaching Jedi-flame-whines to get our profession fixed. The Commando correspondents that I have seen, garvin and StarNick, have done everything they could.

There was even the Correspondent Summit with the devs in Summer 2004, for the various Correspondents to travel down to Texas and talk with the devs. I still remember garvin representing us over there.

Another place where this very SAME disregard of a community / aspect of a game is the Galactic Civil War itself. The GCW Forum had always been hot, that much we can all agree. But also there, and in much more numerous threads, there have been suggestions, bug reports, ideas for expansion, suggestions to fix problems... ANYTHING... to make the GCW lively again. There have been threads with players putting out ideas... dreams... on seeing the Galactic Civil War in SWG be somewhere close to the movies. There was a thread that had long been stickied there started by Kade_Deveron (the old one) called "100 Ways to Improve the GCW." It had so many pages, that I think it was at 86+ pages. It was summarily DELETED.

The GCW issues had been long in place. The GCW is actually worsening in player participation. Heck, the Galactic Empire and Rebel Alliance don't look like the Empire and Rebellion anymore. The ideas and threads are everywhere in that forum. The GCW Correspondents had done whatever they could to compile and forward the GCW Community's concerns.

And what do we have? A dying GCW that doesn't even look like the films. A fabled "GCW Revamp" that had long been mentioned that will take care of the GCW issues.

I hope it sounds familiar, since its the same thing that is taking place with Commando. More than likely the same thing with other marginalized professions.

The Proton Rifle is an expansion based loot weapon also. I wonder how the Jedi community would respond to a Commando centric expansion that held fixes for them, so that they could wait for Commandos to run out and get lightsaber components in order to make them viable if they didn't feel like forking over 25 bucks for Commando content with some saber components tossed in. My guess would be none too amused.

I play a Commando and a MPowers Jedi. Believe me they have both been screwed up for a very long time.

I also have a weaponsmith that I have played for going on 2 years. I love making my own Commando weapons, so I understand the frustration of seeing them replaced by looted ones that are better.

Supposedly there is going to be new weapons/loot for Mpowers Jedi in the expansion. The scenario you describe is exactly what I will have to do to get them if I don't buy the expansion.

Could you point me out to where this suggestion to buy this Jedi Epansion Pack to fix our normal professions was said?

It was in the Helios' Thread that Blixtev said, of how we'll get a boost to our DPS with mustufar commando weaponry...

Okay, I finally looked over the thread. I posted there before reading the entire thing, putting my 3 ideas to enhance the Commando profession.

As for boosing our DPS with Mustafar Commando Weaponry, I have several opinions on this.

* Why must I purchase a Jedi Expansion Pack to properly play Commando?

* Will these weapons be Craftable? Limited Run Schematics? Loot only like the Proton Rifle (wich of course receiving the reward requires being on Mustafar... buying the Jedi Expansion Pack)?

* Also, I fall into the "DPS Means Absolutely Nothing" camp. Too many variables and timers throw the DPS formula out the window. More DPS doesn't equal a better Commando. Raw damage does.
