Thread: we dropped the ball

i havent seen a single 'personal' attack against a dev as of yet. The flaming is directed to them as a whole.
To use you analogya; if i go to a fast food restaurant, order a burger and fries, pay for it and im told to go the next window....
next window asks me for another payment and tells me my ceasars salad (which i didnt order)will be delivered on the next window...
on the next window im told to fork over more money and given my soda..but no burger as of yet...
I wait there for half an hour until finallythemanager pops his head out thewindow and says 'oh you ordered food?' (aka 'oh aoe is broken??') and tells me not to worry, in 15 more minutes, if i supersize my order, he'll make sure my burger will be there... with fries. For sure.
Thats SOE running a fast food joint.
"I think that all of us can offer positive, constructive feedback that will help make this game better" Welcome to 2 years ago.
"especially if they are willing and able to listen." for 2 years they have listened and done squat. Would you keep talking to wall?
QUIT THE ****NG GAME. IF YOU DON"T LIKE IT THEN QUIT AND DON"T GIVE THEM MONEY. BUT YOU DO SO WHO THE DUMBASS NOW.

WE CRITICIZE THEIR GATHERING PROCESSES? WE INSULT THEIR WORK ETHIC???what were we thinking? If they didnt want to work on commando before, theyre a darn sight less willing to do it now, and i wouldnt be surprised if they pushed us back to get fixes after the crafters.did we never hear the story of the prodigal son? If someone you're really mad atsuddenly walks back into your home, you welcome them back in with open arms! we should have been overjoyed to see a red name starting a thread.once we welcome them back, and they give our profession the technical attention that it so badly needs, THEN, if you want to, you can complain about how long and dificult the whole process was.I know there are alot of mad people out there, but Ive been a commando since '03 and ive never once even contemplated leaving this profession. when they finally do fix it, it will have been worth the wait. if you are so mad about the state of the profession that you are willing to impede the process of fixing it, maybe this isnt the profession for you.Look to the senior members of the community. you dont see Ryu or Stern flipping out about the questions the DEVs ask. theyre trying to be as helpful as possible, because they know how fickle the system is.In short, the next time we feel the need to open our mouths and bite the hand that feeds, lets stop and think about it before we write anything, and plan our words VERY carefully.
Umm no they dropped the ball. Period! We feed them not the other way around.

Well...some of the resentment and flames did get out of hand, but I do strongly agree with the sentiment that we shouldn't have to buy an expansion in order to get a badly needed "boost" to damage.
It would be the same if the Devs told smugglers they had to buy an expansion pack in order to smuggler, or Rangers to be able to use traps on NPCs and so on. It's something that should be part of the core profession. Get our role to where it should be in the core game, then let the expansions build off on that with new quests, weapons, and the like.
I have brought this up in the Corro forums, both points actually.
I have been off quite a bit.
Could you point me out to where this suggestion to buy this Jedi Epansion Pack to fix our normal professions was said?
The basic idea of this is distressing.
The Commando community had not dropped the ball. We never did, at least from the point where I began SWG in Feb.2004.
Commando even before the Combat Upgrade had been the butt end of jokes in the GCW / PVP scene. Back then, when people saw me with my Master Commando tag up, I frequently was asked, "Why Commando?"
The Commando community, up until very recently, had been VERY, VERY, VERY, (did I say VERY already?) patient. The Commando community had been extremely hopeful for the Combat Upgrade, hoping for it to be something like a great Saviour or something to that effect.
The Commando community also had NUMEROUS threads on finding problems, fixing them, or suggestions to better enhance the profession to be worthy of the steeper prerequisites.
And what have we gotten in return? What does it take for Commando to be a good profession? The Commando community had done everything it could for a long time to bring about helpful changes to the profession.
And we have nothing to show for it. Not even a, "I'm a Master Commando, and all I got was this stupid T-Shirt" shirt.
I have no remorse from what hostility has been shown by myself or some of my fellow Commandos. We have no Lightsabers to back us up. We have also been marginalized along with some other professions for a long time. Actually, that list of marginalized professions is about to get smaller, but we're still going to be on it.
So again, the Commando community NEVER dropped the ball. We've been carrying the burden of being a pathetic, one-trick pony, three-legged dog profession for a LONG time, and the Commandos are finally being hostile about it. I guess we need to take cues from the Jedi Community to get something done.

It was in the Helios' Thread that Blixtev said, of how we'll get a boost to our DPS with mustufar commando weaponry...
If there was ever a cool and calm forum, us squadleaders could claim it. Still, after all the feedback, serious testing, and reasonable realistic requests, we're ending up with a revamp that is just foreign to us. I dont think you commandos are loosing anything by getting a little heated, and I dont think they can blame you after giveing you a huge e-slap and kicking you while your down.
For us, its in cycles. Back in December of 2003, the ranting and flames that have been breaking out, did in fact break out. And between then and Winter of 2004, it was relatively calm...then it started going south, but that cooled down considerably when Alpha began and we had some very positive things coming...
By the time the CU Hit, our community was *very* excited and "calm" to a point - we were eager to help, and held many good discussions/idea threads for a while. Then Helios started posting in these forums, and it was like a golden age of community standards.
Unfortunately, at the end of it all...we apparently were screwed, to say mildly. It was like tasting the sweetest honey and having it turn to vinnegar in an instant. Its distressing when it gets to a point that a lot of resentment boils over the top, but Ill say this: the post-CU game put a fairly bitter aftertaste in all of us, and it has been disheartening seeing this community dwindle as a result. I honestly don't blame anyone for being mad for that.

maybe they are trying to boost digital sales of TOOW by about 100 or so downloads?
Heres a damn good example of SOE dropping the ball and not us.
Ive been sitting on a proton rifle that hasnt worked since the day I paid 2million credits for it. I cam here asked and was todl why it wouldnt work. I was told it might be fixed.
So Ive sat on it and decided that I could never be so unlucky to get 2 and went and spent another 2million on another one. Well guess what, I got another one that will not work.
So I sent a new ticket in about this crap and wasnt even contacted, my ticket was responded to and I was told to fill out a bug ticket and my ticket was closed, I couldnt even add anything to it.
Now Im just getting pissed. These people are paid by us to at least do something other than stand around with thier fingers up thier butts. Yea it might not be much but when you work for a living then every penny is important.
Some people might not think its worth taking the 5 minutes to do but go to the BBB site a fill out a report against them. Even one of these can get a reaction even from SOE.
Has the Flaming helped?
No. But if they are ready through that stuff I think they'll undersatnd why we are mad and being immature. They read these things. No matter how many flames they'll pull out the information, they know these forums are like walking into an oven. I also find is strange that now a bunch of people decide to come up in arms and debate when they could of done so before without the Red Name.
I am disturbed to see such flaming, but really I don't think it's wrong given the way they've treated us.
I'm very neutral here strangely. I don't want to anger the Devs or make them forget us, but then who's to say they'll do anything anyways? They don't seem to try. They don't read our ideas which we organize and spend our time on. They do this to everybody. We are seemingly always wasting our tiiem here on the forums.
The forums are little more then chatroom. Nothing here should be considered true or useful.
We can post yack yack yack, they can post something yack yack yack it doesn't matter.
All you can do is wait and see.
When you get tired of waiting, I'd leave.
To be honest I can't wait much longer.
Look up the patch notes as far back as you can.
Read them, and count how many Commando issues have been resolved. Hell, count even Commando Nerfs (You won't find much with the latter. No need to Nerf anything if it isn't powerful).
Count even Pre-Combat Upgrade Patch Notes.
Compare us to some of the "favored" professions and the number of times they have appeared on those Patch Notes.
The next thing to do is scour the Commando Forum and look up the numerous threads for ideas, fixes, suggestions, bug reports, etc., from the Commando community.
With this last part of information, compare that to the number of mentions Commando received in the various Patch Notes.

Just to QFE two major points...
1) Where was all these passionate posts before? The Commando forums are usually the same 10-15 people that post with regularity. Just because a red lettered name shows up, doesnt mean thats the only time you post. All these Commandos coming out of the woodwork. How many are MBH/MCommando STILL using it for nothing more than an FS grind?
1.35 miltrade in on pistols
1.35 miltrade in on rifles
1.35 mil trade in on carbines
1.35 mil trade in on heavy weapons
1.5 mil (I think)trade in on Combat XP - STILL gotten thru throwing grenades
It could just be 1 mil caps, but its STILL the best investment return you are going to get.
2) I am very nearly there....
