Here's the problem with that statement...Plasma (in this case)is energy. It's like the plasma in the sun or in a fusion reactor. Not your blood plasma. It is not like naplam or liquid petro. The backpack idea will only work for the stock flammer not a plasma rifle.

Well maybe for the flame thrower we could have a tank on our backs, and maybe for the plasma rifle you could have a nuclear generator of sorts on your back. And I have yet to see what star wars classifies plasma, it may be a liquid energy of types or something like that. so a tank isnt 100% out of the question.

Um... forgive me if I go intellectual on you, but, plasma isn't energy... it's the fourth state of matter, higher than a gas. In a plasma state, matter is in a gaseous form, and electrons flow freely inside the matter cloud. Matter in this state is used in fusion reactions, like in a star.

Anyway, a backpack *could* hold something like this, except for the fact that plasma is exremely hot. And personally I don't like the idea of having a traditional backpack flamethrower either. I think something bulkier with a sort of shieldedemitter (so you don't get any plasma bleed off hitting you). Possibly with a visible tank on it.

Um 2 things. One I said like a fusion reactor or a star (think the Doc Ock experiment in Spiderman2) and plasma is a state as matter transforms from itself into energy. It is not a gaseous form like you said. You contricted yourself. In fact lighsabers are a form of controled plasma. An energy field keeps the plasma in the shape until it contacts something. The Plasma then "leaks" into the contacting matter. That's why they humm...they're are burning the air around them. Similar to the Arc wielders they use for the sound effect for said lightsaber. All a plasma rifle would need would be a combustion chamber and a source of fuel. This fuel would be in a solid state. they're would be no need for a backpack container but i owuld imagine that it would be a BIG gun.

Anyway, we're getting off topic here. As I said above, something bigger and bulkier, with possibly a visible tank and shielded emitter would look cool.

Regardless, one is still plasma flamethrower, one the regular flamethrower. They are two different weapons, two different dmg lvl's so they should look different too.
granted it would be fun to run around tatooine and other newb areas and pretend like my uber plasma is a regular ft (have them storm the weaponsmiths lol) but I just don't think it would be that tough.
If you want me to I'll come up with some ideas for you SOE, just drawings and sketches and such, then you won't have to spend so much time worrying about it, just draw it.
