Another great post maddogs.
Yeah, AFAIK, all aoe attacks are bugged like that the carbine ones were.
And, yes it is a pain in the arse for a solo-artist (i.e. no pets)
"Wow i killed 6 animals worth 3k xp each," "wow thats like 18k xp" "lol no silly, i used an aoe and the others died from the dot as i killed the primary" "...."

Unless you mean the radius? Which I don't know... I heard 20 degrees... could be wrong though.

does flame cone suck, or is it broke? It works for me maybe once out of 10 tries.

What do you mean by "it works one out of 10 tries?" Flamecone is a bit hard to use, but I have the grasp of it just fine.
Hosed down 3 dragonets at once earlier with /flamecone2, doing nice damage + good flame DoT.
The secret is to have all your enemies aggro to you that you want to hit. If they're hittable but not currently aggro to you, they'll just receive a DoT. I know it's inconvenient, but once you learn to line them up proper and get them all aggro, you'll be able to hose multiple enemies at once.
Hope that helps, if not, maybe the other commandos here have some advice.

are you useing flamecone1? if so, are you only at commando 0010 (or is it 0020? I can't remember, I'm been master too long heh) if you aren't mastre or even a shock trooper yet it's not suprising that you'll miss most of the time. our acc mods are horible, even at master, and untill you get up to 0030 (at the very least) you'll be better off useing the Launcher pistol.

I am currently 1/0/3/0 commando, and whenever i have 2 quenkers agro'd on me and i use flamecone1, it will only hit both of them 1/10 tries. It is nice when it works, but it works very seldomly. Also whenever i do it nothing appears above the other quenkers head (like a miss or something) so its like i'm not using flamecone.

I only ever use Cones with the intent to hit lots of targets when I find STs lined up. in that case it works fine. Other than that I use it to stack the dots on one mob. I find that when mobs attack you at melee range they get in a box around you. if you are only fighing 2 mobs then both mobs will not be within the 30(?) degree cone. the way to hit them is to a)line them up or b) run away from them so they follow you, in which case they will be in 30* of each other.
hope that clears it up for you.

Yeah, theres your problem you're */*/3/*
Flamethrowers are very inaccurate til at least flame 4 and even then I wouldn't say the flamethrower is "accurate," the +20 or 30 you get in the master box helps a lot though. When lots of people were in the aakuan cave trying to get rings and other items people hated me because when the 3 or 4 of them spawned in one spot I'd flamecone2 all of them killing them all before the other people could get a hit off.

Lol grinding Commando in the Squill Cave, 1-hit KO everything in that cave with Flamesingle 2 on my 1125 max damage flamethrower. Never went up 3 trees so fast in my life.
For the cone though like they said above, keep them in front of you and keep um close then just let it rip.

it was as glory said, i wasn't using the skill right. I thought that it would hit everything around me like a normal area attack, i didn't know it had a small area it hit in front of your target. I have got it work now and it rocks, thanks for the help everyone.

Very glad I could help. that's what I'm here for.
And to rag on the DEVs for not gettering their a$$s in gear. Though, if what Garvin says it true, they -may- have been doing a better job lately...
