Those are the wisest words on the first page.

The fact is that nobody knows what else is in the works for COmmandos, whether there will be a cert for extinguishers, whether there will be a huge delay for using one, etc. WHining now is a bit premature - they aren't even on Test Center.

As for the "why didn't the Devs tell us in advance?" indignance, ask yourself, "What would have been different if the Devs had done so?" I predict that if the Devs had made it open to discussion in advance, people herewould have cried about getting nerfed and attacked the Devs repeatedly. In the end, it's about gameplay balance, not an attack on Commandos. Hell, Thunderheart himself is playing a Commando, so cliaming that the Devs hate Commandos and want to see them punished is a bit of a stretch. The Devs knew that Commandos would scream about this regardless of what would happen eventually. I'll bet thatbefore this is over, Thunderheart will have wished he'd just left it for the Patch Notes rather than give you a week's warning. And I won't fault him if that's how he ultimately feels, because I'm already frowning attherighteous indignationthat Commandos are trying to impose on the Devs for not getting advanced consultation on the fire extinguisher issue. It wouldn't have changed a thing. Spare us.

I just had an insidious thought.... what if they cert it so that only master commandos can put fires out with an extinguisher?

So what? Yes, there would be screaming and pounding of fists, but there would also be legitimate dialog. I've said it before: Why can'tthe Devs and Playershave open communication? No one likes stealth nerfs. No one.

In the end, it's about gameplay balance, not an attack on Commandos.

No one canconsistently play a Commando in (competitive) PvP, and think that they are overpowered or somehow throwing off 'balance'. Look around at the boards. Talk to people. PvP alot for Christ's sake. Commandos are for the most part a joke in PvP, surpassed only by BHs and Pistoleers.

how is spamming charge shot any different from fighting a tkm and getting dizzied then kd'd? You get the same effect of being on your back the entire fight...

it would be funny to use stop drop and roll formula

go prone, and use tumble to kneeling a bunch of times!

tumble reduces thier HAM, so it off sets taking away burn

Obviously you are extremely new to our Commando Forum...so I'll have some patience with you since you have no clue on which you speak...the past proves you 100% wrong...In the past it has been us to ask for Nerf's to our own profession when we saw them needed...We are totally open to a fair discussion...we just don't like being blind-sided and not have the ability to have any say.

If you have been around you'll remember a time when Commando's were considered a Melee Profession...not Ranged...Because of this, our attacks took advantage of the 2.5 Melee Damage multiplier anytime we fought a ranged profession...We were pretty much PvP gods thanks to this...1 hit wonders...It was Commando's that lead the charge to get this changed...we petitioned the Dev's to make us stop doing the 2.5 Multiplier to anyone...The Dev's responed...but again they didn't come to us to fully discuss the matter...instead they made a quick fix and made us a Ranged Profession...due to that we no longer did the 2.5 multiplier, instead we now received it...We were a Ranged Profession that is forced to fight at Melee range...we can't kite our specials like other Ranged professions...

Do you see history repeating itself here? We all agree that having a way to put out the DoT is a reasonable idea...in fact some of us have pushed for it...but we want in on the discussion otherwise the Dev's will rush this out as well and we'll end up getting screwed again..

This is why the Dev's need to bring Commando related changes directly to us...We are a very fair profession...we won't shoot down the idea as long as it doesn't screw us over...

I had hoped this would be a Doctor thing, if people can cure fire themselves, I want a way to cure mind disease by MYself.

You know...someone once said that before when the dev's wouldn't come to us to discuss a matter...The Dev's were planning on fixing the 2.5x Multiplier issue so we no longer did the 2.5x Melee Multiplier to ranged professions...Someone said "Hey guys...let's have faith that the Dev's won't screw us...let's have faith that they will do what's best of us and the other professions...let's wait and see..."

WE GOT SCREWED...that's what happened when we sat back and did nothing...

No more faith...No more "let's wait and see"...It took us several months to clean up that mess...we would be seriously insane to sit back and let that happen again...anyone that suggests that is doing us all a HUGE dis-service and should be held responsible for what goes wrong....

Sure, lets balance this out...

Basic Fire Extinguisher= 12 sec delay

Advanced Fire Extinguisher= 8 sec delay

That should even it out quite nicely.

Cool concept if I was a newbie PvPer, but I think they need to improve the HAR before they make our flames go out. The only real weapons we have is the flamethrower and protons. Once this fire extiguisher comes out, what are we supposed to fight with then? Protons?
