Garvin you need TH's job because you tell us far more than he ever does. Thanks again for some of the helpful hints. BTW some proffessions that don't need armor...... ????? Thats an interesting one.

I'm very interested in the new weapons, armor, and specials. Somewhat disappointed in the fact that we will have to continue to wait on the Docs, but I am very happy that some word has been given.

What I am betting on armor is this:
Professions will have naturally built in defenses vs types of damage....I.E. - a Teras Kasi will have resistance/defense/toughness to kinetic damage types...Swordsmen to blast...etc
Look at what they did to Jedi...If you pick a certain tree, you get a resistance to saber damage...You can pick up enhancer, and basically feed of force attacks...Remember, Jedi is already done for the CURB...Pay close attention to Jedi, and you will see where things are going. They have no ranged or melee mitigation. They have "toughness". Their defenses (for say a master defender) are below several profs in game already.
What will be interesting is how they give rifleman a natural defense/resist/toughness against damage types, when a rifleman can do: energy, heat, cold, stun, and acid.
If this being the case then rifleman will remain top dog in PvP...
Its ambitious, with enormous potential for bugs, but above is basically where I see armor/profs going...

I dunno, I'm thinking there might be some universal toughness or evasion modifiers that would make going unarmored viable (though that route probably makes it so that you aren't certed for high end armors.)

And one of the key things to the Combat Upgrade is if you like an aspect that another profession gets, go get it to make it work for you...That's one reasons we all have to get use to not thinking of Commandos as a 169 pt profession...Armor is a good example...If I want the Armor ability of another profession, I just go "shop" for the cert...
Let me see if I can figure this one out:
So if i want fencer dodge I can get it and use while holding a rifle? I'm not seeing how that will work since then you would have 2 active defenses and that seems like calculations would be a terrible hard to integration. So I don't think thats what you're suggesting.
The idea of using other moves with different weapon classes was tossed around especially in this forum. The idea of using rifle specials with a carbine or even a flamethrower. But if this is what is being referred to again I'm very confused for you can't use last ditch with a sword or a VK? And how would you use unarmedhit3 with a polearm or poleramhit3 with a scythe blade?
Originally a of lot the defense stacking was suppose to be eliminated via TH comments in the balance so unless thisidea wasput to rest it seems like less integration would be there.
I get the armor/HAM/encumbernace idea. The hvy the weapon and armor the more encumberance the slower you move. The lighter the quicker right I can fathom that one its the offensive and possible defensive integration that seems very difficult for me to even grasp at. Oh well so i couldn't figure it out, hope you get rid of the sharp stick and use that flamethrower and them to release what they can rather than just letting people know when they hit beta.

Commando gets energy, heat, cold, Electricity, blast, and acid. That would make *them* top dog.

The idea from the revamp is to make it so there won't be a "top dog" The top dogs will be the ones that spend all their 250 skill points on combat. Riflemen, i imagine will be made to be very weak naturally and will be forced to fight from a distance...however, any rifleman could pick up commando and get certs for composite or what-ever.

Signed up for the beta the day TH announced it.
I'm currently keeping myself busy with pilot and shipwright until I get into the beta.
Cardon Bixby - M Commando/M Smuggler (just itching for the combat revamp)
Towim Hode - Deciding what to do along side of shipwright

If you're not 18, you can't be contractually bound.
The NDA is (essentially) a contract.
Sorry, that's just the way it is. Don't blame SOE for that.

Tis a possibility...
The next few months will be very exciting...and could possibly mean the end of my M. Commando/0-3-0-4 TKA/0-0-4-0 Pistoleer/Music IV template...
Though speaking of my template...i gotta get Meditation IV for JTL...dang, havent begun grinding for that...falling short on my schedule...eh? Hmm...im just rambling on now...what were we talking about again?
