Anyone got anyidea what the numbers behind the ranges actually mean.

At master commando we get +65 to thrown range accuracy. +65 of what? Does the +17 at ideal simply get added to this mod?

There are a couple theories out there. The one that appears to be most accurate is that yes, they're added together.

TH has said that the way combat worked (or was going to work? I can't remember) is that the attackers Accuracy skillmod is compared to the targets Defense skill mod, and a random number is added to each. This then determines the hit/miss.

From using carbines, I can tell you with certainty that a weapon with a high Ideal Range Modifier will land shots more often than a low one (assuming the same Accuracy skill).

What I don't understand is how we have such low accuracy with grenades. I mean it's not like you have to be terribly accurate to get a grenade to land within 10 meters of your target. We aren't talking about shooting someone's eye out with a pistol. Shouldn't we hit MUCH more often than we miss?

There is a reason for the old saying: Close only counts in horshoes and hand-grenades.

Give us a break, make them much more accurate and faster.

Heh ive been buying nades from my fav WC on sunrunner recently, got about 17 or so crates of thermals in days off him all are 3.9 speed 811 min 1733 max with 18 ideal, im not a master commando im just 4020 and ill probably drop the 2 in FT

(basicly using nades for fs xp) with the 45 accuracy I have I dont really notice that im missing all that much, ill get some streaks here and there but it seems pretty decent and not really worth the pointsor time to master(no offense to you commandos but the huge damage on attacks dont mean much when the delay is 3x the speed of your weapon)...the only gripe I have with nades is the delay and the fact that it takes days to produce them but theyre well worth it if you can find the right WS.

They are well worth it to make combat exp. Heck even that is arguable. But, what is that combat exp used for? To level field tactics (in commando anyway). What does field tactics give you, a tiny bit more accuracy and NO SPEED bonus. The speed bonus it does give you doesn't work at all.

Now before you say they are good weapons, ask yourself, if you had a choice between a proton grenade at master commando and a T21 at master rifleman, which weapon would you choose? In fact you can compare the proton grenade to ANY elite professions weapon if you like, including Commando's.The answer is obvious, the grenades are terrible because they have no speed and no accuracy.

Heck we can even compare the combat exp you can get with a T21 vs. a proton grenade if you like. I guarantee you that if you found a good spot to hunt, you would get more combat exp doing strafe2 that you would with a crate of proton grenades. So their main function in your eyes is completely inefficient when compared to what other professions can do. Possbily one could argue that combining grenades with Strafe would be good.. I guess that is true.

Grenades need a lot more than a better range/blast radiusgarvin, they need some SERIOUS range/speed/damage fixes. I will say it again Garvin, and you seem to be ignoring me, but :

the speed issue with grenades should ABSOLUTELY be in our top 5 issues under the grenade heading, it is a major, major bug and pretty much breaks grenades totally.

Grenade might be a little slow But, they Pack one hell of a punch. Grenades can not be blocked and almost all the time hit. I tested them against a Jedi. With Attack Speed/Min Damage Powerups. Was doing a solid 800 Damage a shot. with max at 1375 Damage.

I know what you are thinking.. The Jedi could of killed me before I got off enough to Kill Him.. But, Remember as of Now Commandos are Not Stand alone Professions they Need support for other professions. Grenades are great in Group battles. Add a radius Powerup to it.. and you will hit everyone..

Well, As a Weaponsmith I mostly only make commando weapons in the infinity server. And, Some of my Commando's leave me feed back and I adjust accordingly. Hell, They need love and I will give it to them no matter how bazzar the request is on a weapon item.

So, all you Infinity Commando's if you need any weapon from a Rocket launcher to a Proton Grenade Visit my vendor and you will leave Very happy or Your Money back
