Unless you take up another elite combat profession, our marksman skills do squat though (DX2 for example is a pistoleer only gun.)
Yes, I have n.pistoleer and the speed branch. But saying our marksman skills do squat is wrong. We have mindshot, headshot, actionshot, legshot, healthshot and bodyshots. We have fullsingleauto, roll shot, suppression fire and warningshot. I use all of these in PvE, in addition to flamecones and flamesingles and knockdowns. I even use intimidate and warcry quite frequently.
I can solo anything up to graul maulers and equivalents, and maybe higher too (haven't tried yet,) using those tactics. I am currently working on n.tk and n.rifleman for some more defensive mods, defensive acuity and flurryshot so I can combine that with supressionfire.
What hes saying is in PvP it really is worthless cause we dont have the accuracy to hit most elite professions.
And Marvin, I dont know what craapy armor your getting but I just got some that has 80% base across the board with stun pannels, thats typical serious PvP armor from what I've seen, then he didnt even mention a possible 30% PSG so I think the numbers are quite realistic and with that damage on our specials will typically be 14 seconds in between for that FT. A T21 is more damaging per second without specials.

So, pistoleer != broke. Go play around with pikeman, carbineer, squad leader or commando and you'll discover truly shafted professions. And when I say play around, that means try out each special, and pay attention to what the other mods are doing (or not doing as the case may be.)

True, we have those other skills, but over time I've realized that I can do more damage just by letting the FT auto-attack targets. Anything that the FT can't handle you're not going to have a prayer of taking down with merely master marksman weaponry.
Although I must say, warcry and intimidate are particularly useful.
And speeking as a pistoleer myself, pistoleer is not more broken or even as broken as commando. With fanshot and action buffs it's like having a flamecone that works up to 64m away, and with better DPS as well as increased versatility, as there's only about one second between shots.
And these numbers are not fictitious. Even taking away the damage-resisting foods we still do crap for damage. 350ish DPS to a random HAM pool isn't that tough to deal with, especially when there is a high probability of missing and there's a 6-10 second delay between shots.
Not to mention that a commando can't do squat if you're out of flamecone range.

The problem of your calculations is that you do not use general numbers... instead you go for the 75% heatresist and a flameout drink...and the flameot only applies for the next 3-6 attacks and have a quite large filling.
just to give you a idel of what typ of armor most pvp freeks ware
