So please don't say that DE doesn't need as much fixing as Commando. At least Commandos have the flamethrower branch. We have the imaginary something-useful-that-hopefully-will-come-in-the-future branch. We have absolutely nothing.

Hi Mikey and welcome to the Commando way of life...I have actually brought up the DE forum many times (look at my Alt in my signature)...And everytime I have brought it up it was not to say they aren't messed up or don't deserve fixes, but to actually praise them for accomplishing what we have yet to do...To not only get Dev attention, but to actually get the Dev's to listen and recognize...

The DE profession does need much love...It is a profession that, once a certain level is reached, the possibilities for any originality or growth is ended...it needs more substance...So I'm not sure who said they don't need love...they do as well....

But as I mentioned earlier, they were told of a DE change coming (Droid Handlers) and fought it...they actually go the Dev's to change their mind...They are an example to us all...It is possible to be heard and it is possible to get the Dev's to change their minds when a mistake is recognized...So if anything, we aspire to reach the same recognition that the DE Community has recently...

So any DE references made in the Commando forum are meant as Compliments...Look around our forum and see how many times we've begged for a change to to happen and still it went through...The DE Community really accomplished something impressive in my book....

I am a commando and I have been since my first month of playing. I have found that the HAR is a well how do you say it. Lets just say Not good. The LP is ok for lil things. And the Flame thrower was our one trick poney. Welp now they shot our one trick poney. I am pretty much useless in raids since I can no longer realy do damage to a AT ST and I cant realy hurt players accept once in a blue moon. I never expected to be a PVP player but a good back up. I don't realy feal like that any more. I droped my Heavy Weapons IV and am now only Flame IV if they dont do something soon it may be time to leave thatand go to other things I will still have enough back up Exp to go back to it if and when they do it. Its just a lil depresing to watch your self die 4x as much as you use to heheh.

it's so funny what people will do on-line...i'm willing to bet over half of the people who responded bashing Zarkonen would've never said a thing in RL....

anyways, Zark is right...it doesn't matter how much you pitch and moan and whine, the Devs have very full plates and are working their hardest...sadly to say, I am not a commando YET but i will be soon (lil blue box) but i do realize the class is broken.

so realize this...being broken and being balanced may seem very close together...but that's because what many of you think of as "balanced" is really translated as "uber elite"...being a well-balanced class does not mean you can own everybody...but that you can stand your own in a fight...but you WILL lose, at least sometimes...

as it is, yes, commando is broken...but stop whining...you attract more bees with honey than vinegar...

Every profession feels neglected and feels they need more. From the most uber profession in the game to the most pathetic, every board is full of people moaning about this or that. Some profs have serious problems, others have problems, but hardly drop everything and get it fixed.

This is my 3rd MMORPG and each game is pretty much the same in terms of devlopment cycle. It takes months to get anything done. It's also true that any adjustment to combat classes tend to be overdone. Commandos whinned at how pathetic they were for weeks, and they got love. They got so much love they were overpowered. Of course it took many more weeks and months before they got nerfed. It will take more weeks and months before any new changes will hit this class. Time is much different for the dev team than it is for the players who consume the game at a 24/7 pace.

he does have a really good point though, there is always a thread in here complaining about how horrible the HAR is. Yes we all know. The correspondant know and the developers know, so stop! If its an issue the correspondant is well aware of, there's no need to keep ranting on about it. Im sure he reported it to the developers and aside from that there isnt anything we can do.

However, i do like threeds with ideas on how to change the system. Some better then others. These offer new insight and sometimes the developers will take a idea here or there.

I understand what you are saying Garvin, as do I many of the others. I do not argue Commando needs much love. But we are better off than we used to be.

Perhaps the days when we were truly, literrally broken- gated by the LP giving pistol xp and the FT being useless- are still in my mind, so I'm not as frustrated these days. Whatever.

I applaud all efforts to get us fixed. My only point is that lately things have been hostile, and I've read a number of TH's posts lately (and some of the Devs mentioned it also) that negative whining will be ignored. Maybe thats just rhetoric on thier part. Obviously, I could get off my ass and become part of the vocal community if I was impassioned enough about this negative vs. postive issue, but I'm not. Just thought I would add a different perspective, and soI have.

you attract more bees with honey than vinegar...

In theory maybe, not in practice.

Example to back it up: We wanted someone at SOE to come post in the commando forum. So using "honey" did not work. When we used vinegar . . .

Well in two days JustG has posted at least twice, TH responded to Garvin, and I got a PM from JustG (although I have to admit I did use honey there).

I am sure that most will agree we need to keep a positive attitude, and probably most are. If anyone rants, which they have the right to do, it is fine if they back it up. Ranting for the hell of it, well thats no good. Saying TH is incompetent is rediculous, since we know he works very hard to try to voice our opinions. But it is not enough to satisfy us. We will always want more, it is part of human nature. Add to that that we are customers that PAY for this service. We wish our concerns to be heard and we wish to be acknowledged. Trust me, if you go to McDonalds and ask for a BigMac, and you pay for it, and they give you an ice cream cone, you are not going to just eat it evrytime you go there and wait for a year to see if they have fixed the problem. (Yeah, weird example.)

Some posts are a bit silly though. Take your own post for example. (With all due respect, and only pointing it out to show you my point, no disrepect intended.) You are whining about people whining.

Pleasetake your own advice. Instead of complaining about complainers, make a post with points and examples of how you see fit to make changes/fixes to this profession. Use your honey, not your vinegar on us. Show us by example. Not by saying one thing and doing another.

I truely believe Just G and TH want to help us out, but I'm guessing that there are are issues that to them are more important than fixing the commando profession. So lets work together to get there attention, in a positive manner if possible, and see what we can accomplish. I hope we can work together. I hope JustG and the gang will listen to us. I hope they will back us up. I hope they back all professions up.

But do not expect me to sit back and smile while we get nerf'd. AND YES WE WERE NERF'D!!! AND YES WE ARE BROKEN!!! EVEN THE DEVS ADMITTED THIS. IF YOU CANNOT SEE THIS, THEN STOP SMOKING THAT STUFF.

So, once agin, lets work together. Garvin's posts have been great, don't complain about it. Give us some constuctive and positive ideas of your own.

Many commandos warned the devs what would happen if they did what they did with the FT. They ignored, and exactly what garvin and company told them would happen, happened. So don't expect them to stand by idely, and happily, whne thay are being ignored. After all, aren't we the experts in this feild? Why not consult us. Don't we have a Correspondent for a reason?

Anyway, don't just sit there and eat the crap someone shovels in your mouth. Lets get proactive and get something accomplished TOGETHER.

LordSeckmoth has a new post up asking for ideas. Please spend your time thinkig and putting together something useful for this post. That is where your time and effort is needed as a commando. That is what I will try to do now.

Oh, btw, I don't like bees, they sting. And honey is very sticky. So keep your honey, and show me some examples of what the hell you mean. Its alot easier to go around saying dumb phrases, than to actually do what they mean. Oh, and show me in Lord's new post, that's where it is needed.

I have only recently seen TH state that the HAR is broken and it will (in time) be fixed. That's all I've EVER asked to see. Yes every profession needs fixing, but this is a commando board. Naturally youre going to see commando's talking abotu commando related issues.

Yes, the devs have a full plate to deal with. But when they keep making the same mistakes (adding new content without fixing the broken content first) players get impatient.

TH was right in that he said there is a lot of ranting going on here- negative energy.

Look. I'm a master commando and have been a commando since the first month, and have been reading these boards religiously ever since- a silent observer for the most part. We went from being crap to superior to crap to superior- and now we're stuck in crap again. These things are cyclical. It will get better- at the combat revamp.

I applaud the vocal commandos out there fighting to fix what is in fact a broken profession. But the fact is, the tone is impatient and fed-up and whiny. Garvin- you are a wonderful advocate of our profession- not since Ivoni have we had one so good- but your tone as of late has, as TH said, been more complaint oriented than constructive. I urge you to rethink your strategy. We need you, but we need you as a passionate advocate, not a whiner.

Many of you other vocal commandos have taken to bashing TH and the devs. You are fools. I understand your frustration, but let me make this clear- your ranting in these forums makes the situation worse. Deal with that fact and I believe you will see progress with TH.

Until then, I wouldn't post in this forum either if i were him.

Anyway, just one Master's opinion.

No, you are the fool, 99% of the skills in Commando have been useless since launch. Were do you get off sucking upto the devs? Commandos have a right to complain considering they are paying money to play a proffession that only have ONE weapon, that have currently been downgraded. You fix whats broke before you nerf.

I'm the one who used the proverb and I fully support Garvin and his work. I said that I understood where his frustration lies and fully agree. Why should I take my own advice ? And I have made many posts with suggested changes. I just chose not to write them again seeing as how Garvin has covered all the points very nicely. I really think you took my post in the wrong light and might need to reread it again.

Someone else used this phrase. I was not refering to you at all. I actually really liked your post. Sorry for the confusion, if you read a few posts down, you will see that phrase used again.

Ah cool. I just didn't want it thought thatI actually supported all that has been done to us.

And I may not say it enough but Garvin has done an excellent job looking out for our interests. All of his facts are dead - on from my observations.
