I know, I just wanted to let the commandos know that Rangers do empathise, and we know that this is something that looks grim in the short term, but look really cool in the long term. I wanted you commandos to know that Rangers who come here aren't saying "no, they're my skills, gimme", but rather that we're simply defending our future as well. Take away the mines from Ranger and our offensive skills would be...zero. No weapon certs (as of now)...no specials...nada. We're simply defending the belief that we can co-exist, and that rather than try to take away the one offensive thing Rangers appear to have, it might make more sense to try and promote a better way of differentiating them. And I wanted y'all to know that we'll be sharing out goodies with y'all. Us peeps that've been left in the cold for a while need to stick together.

Rangers are going to be something like a "Light Commando" when your revamp is done. We need to be "Heavy Commandos" and all will be well. The mixing of both would be a great combination, if and when they are equally fixed.

I do like the idea of seperation between light commando and heavy commando, and I hope that what's happening to Ranger is a reflection of the dedication they'll give to you guys as well. I think that if they keep on track the way that they've been doing, we'll see a major turnaround in this game. The Squad Leader and Ranger changes, along with the new smuggler stuff in concept seems to hint at a deeper GCW in the future and those professions seem to have been geared to be different style of troops. One can be very hopeful that the Commando community soon sees a document like ours that gives them a role in the world beyond just being able to hold a big gun.
For the record, I'm going to be creating a Commando character tonight (obviously it'll take me a while to achieve my goal) and I do hope to see where you guys are coming from. I think I have an okay idea, but it's hard to know exactly without playing.
Anyway, you guys are welcome to punch and poptarts, as well as the beer and pie we'll be stealing from the smugglers.
Perhaps now would be a good time to tell you all about the ranger proposal to combine Commando, Squad Leader, Smuggler and Ranger into the ultimat borked class. Squad Commrangler. Hoo-rah.

As for the combo of Ranger/Commando, I always liked the idea...and like the "demolitions expert" in the FAQ regarding roles.
Functionality wise, it will be just that...lets just hope the dev's don't forget about grenades!
Awesome. If this pans out to be a good enough change, can all the ex-neglected profesions have a cross-forum party?

Speaking hypothetically, if any fixes/revamp is in the future for Commando, if its after Smugglers, we have about 9 more months of mediocrity
