Thread: Rangers, then Smugglers...

Rangers are getting some love...


Smugglers are in concept...




Speaking hypothetically, if any fixes/revamp is in the future for Commando, if its after Smugglers, we have about 9 more months of mediocrity

Seems so...

*strikes off the idea of gaining remote mines/proximity mines off the wishlist*

Hmm...maybe not. Its a bit vague with "traps", but it would be mighty nice if we could be able to set up remote detonation mines using grenades or something

....Those professions do need help, big-time... but it looks


like Commando is in no way even in the Devs minds.......


I'm gonna use up my nades, and dump Commando... My Master


Commando is grinding the Village, last thing I need is to have useless


Commando skills when I become padawan.


Maybe I'll come back to Commando with my Alt. in a year when a post comes up about


a Commando fix. Until then, I'll be using a different profession.


This Commando community rocks though. I will pop in often to check on


you all.

I would say this gives more of a chance to getting remote mines and explosives for us.


Since they are putting the coding in to do it with rangers (with only state traps) it stands to reason that we might be able to set damage dealing traps and explosives.


If this does happen i think i know what im gunna change my template to

A New Beginning

The new vision for Rangers is a bold and exciting new move for the profession. These new Rangers are geared for stealth and combat, able to hide and conceal themselves in both urban and wilderness environments. They can set special traps and create potent new explosives and traps.


If rangers are given the ability to make and/or set explosive traps, then it got to be given to us as well when our revamp comes.

If you read the litst of the traps they have they are Movement, Accuracy and Defencive de-buffs.


A Crowd control trap so to speak...



However they dont have big damage traps, or KD traps....


Those could be given to us with much praise and happiness ^_^

# HX2 Mine Body - Basic explosive mine. Does 100% Kinetic Elemental Fire damage (mitigated by armor & Personal Shield Generators).

# Kaminoan Dart Trap Assembly - Bio Toxin darts that are delivered as a Poison Health DOT (Damage-Over-Time).


Maybe not the most damaging, but they are geared towards damage only. We won't know how effective any traps will be untill they are tested.

Basic explosive


We would have the High Grade and Elite explosives


Also the little Poison dart does kinda fit whith there Spyish thing now

This is either very bad or good.

Good in that the Devs will help fix us up a lot.

Bad in that we are no way considered and if we are it's very far away.

I'm glad for Rangers and all really, but a Ranger/Commando for that Stealth Type Gameplay is gonna suck, um because Commando is only capable of doing something when put with Smuggler, Pistoleer, or Carbineer.

Man being a Commando/Ranger would be cool, if Commando on it's own could actually do anything.


P.S. I'm extremely TICKED and extremely joyful. So I'm just confused and depressed now...

Here are two things that I would expect to fall into our sphere of influence:


-Antipersonel shape charge, ie ye olde 'Face towards enemy' claymore.


-Satchel charge - drop your'greeting card'at the base of a turret and run like the dark side! Think the 4th Rangers Scaling Point du Hoc and dropping a thermite plasma grenade into the loading mechanism of each German artillery piece, thus rendering them useless and unable to hinder the Allied invasion.


-In the spirit of the satchel charge, ability to use bomb droids



The debuff traps etc I think are appropriate with ranger. If you see yourself as the heavy weapons component of a long range recon team, it ,might be appropriate to put some ranger into your template. I'm not a big fan of the theft line - I would say keeping tracking in ranger instead would be better and to give theft to smugglers as part of the underworld or slicing tree.


I'll try to add more as I work back into the profession and use the new post CU skills.

Yeah a satchel charge or demo charge that would be a la Han Solo planting the proton charges/grenades in the endor shield generator complex in ROTJ.

Already made a thread in the Corro forums regarding if we can get some grenade loving as well as the possibility of such an idea. Its not a trap to snare someone, but to blow up a complex...which fits our role perfectly.

As I said in another thread, the difference seems to be in the functionality. Rangers place mines ahead of time to augement their combat. Commandos just straight up use explosives DURING combat. Commandos seem the type to blow open the door to a facility, Rangers would sneak in by stealing the code from an unsuspecting guard. Commandos blow up turrets, Rangers slink past them.

There are a lot of differences that we can grow and stretch out to make a better Commando profession.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

Which is something Ive been stressing here, on the Ranger forum, and in the Corro forum...but for some on both sides fail to see beyond "they're getting commando-esque stuff, and they're angry".

Also...I saw your thread, I agree for the most part....but its been said a few times now...
