Daker you said,

"I just did some testing with my flamer. Yes the dot damage was substantially less. However (and most importantly) I was doing about 25% more damage than I was pre patch."

Moron. If you are fighting anything tough you are doing about 500-700% less damage than before.

Nothing I can disagree with there. We have 3 broken trees, and they won't be fixed for at least another month. Although I hate the fact that master commandos have no advantage over grenadeers other than mitigation 3, it is a simple truth at the moment.

Twoobservations though:

(1) You might consider at least holding onto your acid rifle tree... Why? Well I have noticed that TONS of mobs are 80% to 100% heat resistant, but few are 80% to 100% acid resistant. Yes the acid rifle is inaccurate and it sucks, but in some circumstances the acid rifle might be better than a 80% to 100% resisted flamer...

(2) If your guild raids, AT-STs are resistant to almost everything except blast, and flamethrowers will no longer be effective against them. Your rocket launcher skill tree will be useful for AT-ST killing, as the launcher pistol blows goats.

The grenade tree is worthless, but you might consider keeping the other 2...

Just a quick response:

Ranged Mitigation 3: I had already been thinking about going Master Pistoleer...If memory serves, I can pick it back up there...

1) Nah. More skill pts to use elsewhere

2) Umm...I am Imperial /wink

Change 1 is so significant it compeltely ruins any attempt at killing tougher mobs solo. They are forcing people to group up. I will not be forced into this, so I am leaving, and complaining about it.

Change 2 .. is completely wrong. We can still DoT an run away I did it earlier, it's quite easy. The real change here is that it takes way, way longer now to kite. So, yes, you can still Kite, but the devs have made it take way longer. Why?? Making it take longer to do things just for the sake of making it take longer to do things is WRONG. It's like adding GRINDING to the game. WHY??

Tao

Wrong....Wrong Wrong Wrong Wrong....Wrong Wrong...

(1) If you think that you SHOULD be able to solokill any mob in the game you are crazy. Even with the changes youSTILL won't have to group to kill 95% of the games content. However, there does have to be some content in game for those players who DO want to group. Under your logic, no one would be able to have grouping at all because there wouldn't be any mobs difficult enough to present a challenge. I'm sorry if you can't continue to solo Krayt Dragons, but you aren't supposed to anyway...those are group content.

This is just stupid...I won't comment further.

(2) You can still dot and run away, other classes can still do so as well. The point is that it takes so long to do so (because dots have been nerfed), that there is no incentive to do so. If you could still dot kite a krayt dragon, but it took 8 hours to do, would that be worth it to you? Hell no. That is the point. Go hunt something else.

It's not making you grind longer, it is trying to discourage you from soloing the top content in the game genius. Again, if you think you should be able to solo kill everything in the game easily you are crazy....there would be no game.

Ok...maybe I missed something...where did it say in the patch notes that in game resists have been fixed...the only mention I saw was:

Bleed/Fire resistant clothing will now have an effect.

I also see:

DoT resist changes will make AT-STs more resistant to DoT damage. Dot resistances have been added giving the AT-ST extra protection against flamethrowers and other fire DoT based attacks.

Where does it say that heat resists on NPC's are working properly now...I'm not saying it isn't or that it shouldn't...I'm generally interested in finding where this conclusion was gained? In the game prior to the patch, even if something said it had Heat or Fire resistence, it still took the same amount of damage as an NPC without...I see mention specifically the AT-ST mentioned but not all NPC's who may have these resists...Please correct me if I am wrong here...

It is still very, very easy to solo the toughest mobs in the game. This patch has not changed this, only made it take longer.

The NPC AI in this game is so bad that nearly every place or point of interest with high level NPCs can be exploited (SOE calls it an exploit, I call it they suck at coding AI) so that you can kill them without being hit back.

You don't think players should be able to solo the toughest stuff in the game?

Well they can. And they always will be able to. Any dedicated player can kite to their heart's content with their Speeder.

Like I said, this ONLY MAKES THINGS TAKE LONGER. THAT IS ALL.

And you have no problem with this? This isn't the kind of fix that was needed this is more like a work-around. And you numbers from the first post are completely wrong. please refer to my post in which I explained the 500-700% damage reduction.

This is not the kind of change that was needed, yet you support it almost blindly?

Boy, you're a little misinformed troll aren't you?

FlameSingle2 Before:

5000-7000 Damage every 8 seconds

Scaled damage on the dot, but 1500 to 2000 dot damage every 6-8 seconds against big things like rancors.

Total maximum damage per second: Around 1200

FlameSingle2 Now:

8000-10000 Damage Every 8 Seconds

I don't know what dot damage is now...but we will say 200 to 500 every 6-8 seconds now.

Total maximum damage per second: Around 1300

You didn't take DOT into account at all. Stop being a moron, stop calling me a troll, because I KNOW MORE about this profession than you do, and I play it more. I know what I am talking about, and I have done the math. After the patch we do at LEAST 500% less damage overall.

Don't **edit**ing argue with me or I'll bust out the tables and prove it.

There are a lot of food out there now and only so much room in ones stomach so I'll skip over that part as we can use the stuff also.

Ok damage increase? Once again I havent used my 1200 damage FT befor today as I was grinding a little TKA simce I got it so Im not sure but I capped out at about 13000 damage. Someone tell me if thats more than what it would have done befor. Its 4.8 speed and I havent gotten a chance to time it but it feels like about 7 seconds. SO let me calculate PVP.

25% of 13000 = 3250

-80% comp armor = 650

Ok so that 650 damage in PvP with my best hit against someone who has no ranged mitigation, if they got that then it wil be considerably less when your looking at 60% of my range of damage so you wont get that in PvP but lets use it anyway.

So there 650 right away, timer starts ticking say 8 seconds another 650 for total of 1300, and now we are at 1300 damage done, dot ticking little off if any so we'll say give 200 in that time? so 1500 damage in 8 seconds for a lousy 187 DPS. ANd in PvP they are going to be buffed if they know anything so say at least 3000 health. So it will take us at least 16 seconds to kill someone if we have perfect accuracy and hit the same HAM bar which is damned close to impossible.

ANyone got some numbers of another profession to throw out? I would venture to say we are still way out damaged, perhaps even more now with our now somewhat wimpy DoT. And yes, it seems to me to be wimpy now.

Thanks for showing everyone how little you know about commando, since the flame single 2 DoT before the patch would hit 7k, not 1500-2000. Shows how much ya know. Ugh.

Ok Tao....I have figured out your problem...reading comprehension...

Damage = actual damage...the initial damage from the attack.

Dot Damage = Damage from the dot.

What I said (CLEARLY distinguishing between the two) was that dot damage went down, but actual (initial damage) went up 25%.

I gave an example....8000 to 10000 is roughly 25% more than 5000 to 7000.

I you were not a troll...you would understand the difference because Garvin, Tac, LordS and, I and others have been posting for months using that terminology.

Finally, the dot WAS overpowered, and WAS NOT intended to let you solo all content in the game. All commandos asked was that if our dot was nerfed, we wanted more actual damage to compensate for the fact that we did less actual damage (before dot) than other classes before the patch. We got that.

As far as I am concerned, we didn't get unreasonably nerfed. If you are unhappy about it, I encourage you to put you money where your mouth is and quit. I am tired or rebutting your senseless incomprehensible arguments, and I will continue to have fun being a commando whether you can solo Krayt Dragons or not...

Daker, the only thing that matters is overall damage.

That is all.

And in that area, we were nerfed by no less than 500%.

Maybe you weren't a good enough commando to be aware of this damage potential before the patch.. I don't know.

All I know is this really hurts Commandos as THEY WERE.

And how many times do I have to say it,

WE CAN STILL SOLO THE TOUGHEST STUFF IN THE GAME

WE CAN STILL SOLO THE TOUGHEST STUFF IN THE GAME

WE CAN STILL SOLO THE TOUGHEST STUFF IN THE GAME

WE CAN STILL SOLO THE TOUGHEST STUFF IN THE GAME

WE CAN STILL SOLO THE TOUGHEST STUFF IN THE GAME

WE CAN STILL SOLO THE TOUGHEST STUFF IN THE GAME

WE CAN STILL SOLO THE TOUGHEST STUFF IN THE GAME

WE CAN STILL SOLO THE TOUGHEST STUFF IN THE GAME

WE CAN STILL SOLO THE TOUGHEST STUFF IN THE GAME

WE CAN STILL SOLO THE TOUGHEST STUFF IN THE GAME

WE CAN STILL SOLO THE TOUGHEST STUFF IN THE GAME

WE CAN STILL SOLO THE TOUGHEST STUFF IN THE GAME

It just takes LONGER, and that's not THE RIGHT WAY TO DISCOURAGE PLAYERS FROM DOING ANYTHING.

I am tired of debating with you, you just don't see it.

Again Tao...you don't know what you are taking about.

Rancorsusually have from 10k to 30k hitpoints. By your logic, rancors would die in 2 to 4 ticks or less. I have never had a rancor die in any less than 6 to 12 ticks.

You can be disgusted...that doen't make your worthless gibberish right.
