I haven't exactly been to active on the forums either, but I too, am cancelling my account. Lucky for me I was still in the 1month free trial.

I will take another look at the game in a few months when my buddy finally quits EQ, hopefully it will be less problems and more fun.

As for other games to play? There really isn't too much quality MMO-wise out there right now. (Notice I say Quality). If you're really desperate you can always try to get into the Final Fantasy XI beta. Yes it's an MMORPG of Final Fantasy. They already did their first selection, I don't know if they'll be bringing in more testers yet. However, I am currently planning to buy an Alienware PC and I do know they are offering a deal where if you buy a new PC from Alienware, you get a free FFXI beta account. Maybe find someone needing a computer and make them a deal, hehe.

/salute to Garibaldi and all other Commandos.

PS. I have toget this off my chest, hehe.I come froma military family (I'll be signing up within a year or so), and anyone with even a passing interest in weapons can tell you that this is not the way these weapons are supposed to be used. Extreme close range? Never ever ever ever ever in a million years would anyone even THINK of using these weapons at close range. Why? Because they all BLOW UP. If you fire a flamethrower at anything closer than 10 metres, you're risking splashback on yourself. Watch a war movie like Saving Private Ryan or whatever, the guy doesn't jump into the trench or into the building before frying the guys, does he? NO! Acid Rifle close range? I hope not! Why? Same reason! Try it! Get a hose, and have a friend stand 5m or less away from you, spray him with the water. All he has to do is take a step or two toward you and you both get soaked. Rocket launcher? Nope, mid to long range too. Beam Cannon? Since when does anything with CANNON in the name fire at close range?? Sheesh.

Okay /rant off.

So long and good hunting.

I am in the military and sadly wont be around for city of heroes and im not exactly leaving on a good note with this game.

I'm going to the lovely torn world of the Balkans in Bosnia for peace keeping mission. I would really love to play a good solid game before I left which sadly wont be SWG. I really loved this game when I first got it and I put alot of time into it with friends but as time went on and we all started to grasp concept it started taking a sharp turn downward. My best of friends I met online became a bounty hunter and that meant he was an xp vacuum as I chose commando (military) naturally. He progressed at about 5x the speed i was and thats when it started to go sour. I then STRUGGLED with my secondary profession having invested 40k combat into a worthless profession that was entirely incapable of going up without any heavy weapons on the server. (Tarquinas still has NO flamethrowers) My secondary profession was pistoleer and I finally got pistol whip. Days looked brighter i thought....until last nights patch.

So thats pretty much my story in a nut shell. I also took up smuggling on the side incase commando was a complete flop, which it was a flop (a violent spasming fish out of water more like it) but the knockdown nerf was just too much. A storm trooper will be impossible to take down now, you are now just a guy with a gun. There is no sense in even having the knockdown style still in there cause it's like self sacrifice.

But heres me being DION WARWICK....I predict EVERYONE will be riflemen now cause anyone who wants to be in pvp will want the one shot headshot 3. So rifleman your nerf strap on is coming guys.... Me....

im gonna look for another mmporg, or play jedi outcast along with Americas Army (cool game)

If you want an old-school fantasy MMORPG, go to www.worldofwarcraft.com and check out Blizzard's new game. Don't look at the screenshots, download the movies. The screenshots may turn you away if you have never gotten into the Warcraft universe as the exaggerated characters seem somewhat cartoonish, but the Divx moviestell the true story. This is going to be a quality game as that's what Blizzard does - they won't release something until it's not only finished, but until it's really good.

Anyway, sorry to hear that you're giving up but I understand. Good luck to you!

(BTW - World of Warcraft isn't released yet...)

By the way... I heisted this line from the World of Warcraft FAQ...

When will the game be released?
We have not yet announced a release date for World of Warcraft. MMORPGs are vast and complex; we want to make sure that we take the time necessary to develop a game that will meet the high standards that our developers and fans have come to expect from Blizzard games.

Enough said.

I am also thinking of retiring, not from commando but the entire game. Just isnt fun to be honest LOL there are some VERY exciting moments, killing BIG things, what PvP COULD be if they'd just get more droids and stormies in there instead of fluffies. The lack of response is another reason, they are working on it NOW after 3 weeks, I may stick around and see if they'll live up to their word, but honestly- how many times has that happened :-P
