Just to be clear flame single would NOT have a dot effect, that would be reserved for flame cone.

Seriously tho don't dots in every other game like this ignore armor? Not on the initial hit of course but the dot damage is always the same...I could be mistaken tho.

Great jeebus!

You should PVP more before you post.

Fire Dot - jump in the water

Bleeds - Med/first aid

Poison/Disease - Doc

You have to have a group to do battle. All a DoT does to an ATST is make the owner put it away.

If you knew anything about the PVP system you would be complaining about mind bleeds/poisons they currently win the war.

My pistoleer DOTs are just as big as my flame thrower Dot. Although they all stack, there is rarely time to apply a second DOT with the flamethrower, its just to slow to sit there and continue to apply another dot and live to see another day.

With a pistol however I can get both healshot 1 and 2 in combined for about 1600, which is about the same as my FT dot. The big difference is that healthshot 1 and 2 last longer and I have no down time after using it like I do with teh flame thrower.

Is it just me or does anybody else find it odd that people think that someone on fire while wearing armor should take less damage.

I think the DOT damage is caused by the heat transferred through the armor not the actual fire heat damage directly, that gets taken care of with armor resists.

example: Firemen have fire resistant suits that can withstand enourmous amouts of heat. So a fireman can run through a fire without getting burned. However if he were to stand in a fire the fireman would suffer damage and die. Not from Burning directly in the fire, that is being resisted by his gear. He will die because of being cooked. His body cannot withstand the heat that he is enveloped in like baking a potatoe in tin foil.

So if you were wearing composite with resists to heat you should resist the initial heat damage since it will not burn your skin. But enclosed in this suit of armor while ablaze you would in fact essentially cook inside it unless the fire is put out. That is where the DOT does it's damage.

However I believe they need to make some way to put someone on fire out. It's silly to let them burn with the only recourse is to run and find water. But this ability should be set in a higher up elite skill tree. It would be stupid if anyone with novice medic or simple medic skills could put it out since many ppeople have this skill. That would just be a commando flames someone, they kill him and immediatly negate the flame DOT. Making somekind of craftable item to put the fire out too should be there. Like Docs can do with posions. Sure a Doc can cure them but I've never seen a Doc with the supplys at the time to cure them. Simply because up in till recently nobody has cared to have them ready. But after taking hits from posions i'm sure that most groups would love to have a doc with posion cures when they do a raid.

"Fire Dot - jump in the water"

Nice idea. But you still have problems in almost all PvP battles, Tatooine is a deathtrap. Theed is pretty much the only place I pull out an AT-ST regularly (even then, rarely).

"Bleeds - Med/first aid"

I, a master doctor, have been hit with a bleed (from a master pistoleer) that took 8 uses of the First Aid command to cure. While completely off the topic of commandos, a master in the best profession for healing should be a bit more effective in curing bleeds. Even a normal bleed takes 3-4 applications almost always. By then the bleedee(is that a word?) has probably already been incaped.

In real life the flamethrower is deadly. If you catch on fire it kills you fast fire is one of the most deadly elements it can bring down houses and anything that it can set fire to. And people complaining about it is just bs. In ww2 when they used the flamethrower didnt all the people that got by it roast?

Considering that a flamethrower shoots a stream of burning chemicals onto the target, the DOT seems appropriate.

As for rolling around to put out the fire? Not gonna help. Using RL flamethrowers as a guideline, the fuel that is sprayed on the target has an oxidizer <an additive that allows the fuel to produce it's own oxygen> included so rolling around <which deprives a "normal" fire of it's oxygen> would not work. I think we're lucky that they let water put it out IMO.

And for those that say an ATST shouldn't burn? Let me spray napalm on your car.... ANYTHING can be set on fire folks, ANYTHING. Just wish the frappin thrower would recharge quicker.....

Again this is a game not RL... Since this is a game it needs to be fun in order to succeed. As an mmorpg it really needs to have varietyand toappeal to a broad range of players. As it is the only really effective pvp classes are the BH and Commando. The Flamethrower DOT is too powerful as it stands. I was a Master commando and am switching because it is too easy to play. Im not saying that Commandos or BHs shouldnt be some of the most powerful pvp classes in the game but the other combat professions need to be a little closer. Since PVP is basically over in 2 or 3 hits in a long fight I think the best option would be to reduce damage overall. But the flamethrower damage is screwed up and too high. They need to fix the melee range thing and make resistances factor in to the DOT first and then go from there.

Dude have you read any of the draw backs to commando specials? How cana Commando be one of the best PvP classes? Only morons, melee, or distracted people stand still long enough for us to fire upon them. If ONE person in a PvP group notices the commando he or she is dead. I don't PvP much. When I do try I may hit someone with my special but that makes me the primary target so I then die. Sure I can use the annoying TEF situation and go attack them again but once they fix that what recourse do I have? Commandos are no where as powerfull as people think. Our damage per second is lower then any other elite profession. If I hit a target for 6K not counting the dots I"m doing 400 damage a second. The only thing that makes us even compairable to other elite professions is the dot. I feel the wound damage isa little high. Maby change it so it is spread out over all three HAM bars. Take into account our chance to miss and we are no where close to the best class in PvP if it is one on one. In a group we may get a shot off or two but our large noticeable weapons make us a big target.
