Lets hope nothing gets delayed, pushed back, or whatever...and next week we'll finally get some wholesome CU stuff!
Been saying that since October.

thats right starnick good job, keep defending SOE and the total lack of info. There is no reason to delay the post about the delay its completely stupid. We were promised more info we got pretty pictures and thats about it.
I don't see Starnick defending SOE in any untruthful way...SOE has made some leaps and bounds lately on trying to improve their communications as well as making needed changes in game...anyone who disagrees isn't seeing things with open eyes...
Does that mean that we think SOE has been doing a good job all around or doesn't have room for improvement, NO WAY!!! Their communications have improved, butare still is sub par, in my mind, from where they should be...and the timing of a "wallpaper" FF was truely a bad decission in my opinion. SOE should be siezing the opportunity to tell players what they want to hear and make each FF bigger then the last until they run out of CU related info...They pretty much did that with JTL, so I'm not sure why they'd go this route with the CU, except maybe that the FF they did have planned for this week will be even better if given a weeks worth of more time.
Don't discount what they've already shared with us...Awhile back I got into a huge arguement with a dev regarding communication...I told him that giving players even a little taste will make them happy...He responded with "give them a little and they'll just want more...they'll even disregard what we already shared and flame us worse then before"...more and more, people are making me look wrong and that dev look right...The more they share, the more people expect from them, and when they don't deliever, for what ever reason, they get flamed...
We've heard about various Armor plans...We've heard about various HAM changes...We've been given an idea of the mass numbers of new weapons going into the game (more then one being currently slated for Commando alone). We've also pretty much seen the "CU Overall plan" doc...Tyrant has come out lately and given us progress reports, but with the understanding that "things change and deadlines are missed"...When he makes his posts, we thank him for the info and state that we understand "things changing and deadlines being missed", but having the info makes up for that...then deadlines are missed and flames erupt with "tell us something"...
Look...like I've said, I hate the way the CU has been handled, from the communication plan to the overly cautiousness of the Devs...but at the same time, I'm willing to appreciate what the Devs have released publically, their efforts to increase the number of ingame improvements while we wait, and the fact that they are working their butts off to give us what we want via the CU...
People complained when SWG was first launched, people attacked SOE saying that they released the game to early...that they should have waited until all the bugs were fixed...Now the devs are unwilling to release the CU docs and open testing until they are sure it's ready for that next stage, and look what folks are saying...
It's one thing to be understandably frustrated...it's another thing to be out-right ungrateful for what we've already received and for what's hopefully coming...It seems to me like the Devs are screwed if they do, screwed if they don't, so they just figure if people are going to flame them either way, might as well let them flame over one issue (lack of info) rather then the hundreds of issues that could come up with released info...is that really message we want to be sending the devs?
Again...so I don't get misunderstood...this weeks FF sucks...lack of communication sucks...but overall, the Devs have been doing 100 times better with both ingame changes and their communications then just a couple of months ago...you can't deny that...

This isn't about the FF in my opinion. Its about Th saying last week that they would be posting about about the reason why the delay on the CU this week. Its TH who said they were going to post it. I don't know how you defend that.
I'm not defending it expect to say that Tyrant said specifically that they'll miss deadlines and we need to accept that (that went for all his staff)...we don't have to like it, but it happens...we don't know all the reasons why they are missed (could be very valid) and that's why I complain about the level of communication...but as for whether missing a deadline they promised being good or bad, I don't know without knowing ALL of the info...
So again, don't like it, but can accept it as long as SOE keeps improving they way they have been...The trick is, when TH or anyone else says they'll make a post by a certain time, don't be surprised if something get's delayed...you can be upset about it, but really, and this is the sad part, is it really anything new? But also don't let the frustrations over the delays cloud the other good things that HAVE happened as some of the posters seem to be doing...Someone complained that Starnick was standing up for SOE...Starnick was just bringing up the positive things that SOE has done lately...he's just notwilling to to focus only on the negative and try to balance the bad things with some of the good that has transpired lately...

I know this is going to sound like a flame against Garvin, so I'll apologise in advance if it comes off that way, but with respect, its easy for you to say that because you're "in the know", you have / had access to the CU and Dev forums and I'm damned sure a Dev will therefore be far more willing to communicate with you than they are with us poor saps who keep on forking over $15 a month while we wait for the fabled CU.
Does anyone here remember the last time a Dev communicated anything directly with us the commando's ??? - the last red name I remember seeing here was Tiggs asking us for our top issues just after she got her new job.
As a customer I haven't seen ANY improvements in Dev communication, just a continued spate of broken promises and features / posts that fail to materialise time and time again. We get more information out of you and StarNick than we get out of the devs, the hints you keep trying to drop together with our faith in your promises that the CU will be amazing and address all our issues are the only things keeping most of us going.
SOE aren't telling us ANYTHING, and they can't even put out on time a post telling us why they can't / haven't told us any of the things we want to hear.. so yes, I and many others here are going to get frustrated, if the devs say to us "We will post next week a statement telling you why things are delayed" and then 2 weeks later we're told "it'll be soon" (the patented SOE response) how exactly are we meant to behave ?, turn around and say "ok cool, here's another months subscription while you continue to dangle us on the end of a hook" ??
I'm sorry, but that just doesn't cut it....

Never worry about "flaming me"...I expect folks to disagree with me and if I wasn't tough I wouldn't be a Commando...
And I agree, we are long overdue for some direct red name communication, but unfortunately there are least 20 other communities that could likely say the same thing, some of which have had less communication then us...so we aren't alone...on the otherhand, we have had lots of indirect communications from the Devs channelled her via me and more recently by Starnick...It was communicated that the scope of Grenade improvements have increased in the CU plans and It was communicated that the Underslung Carbine wasn't going to make it into the CU...both came from direct responses to us from CU Programers. All the other responses we've received lately have all been more specifically CU related and blocked from being passed on via the NDA...
