I disagree hellshot.

If you are NEUTRAL you only get fined some credits. no tef or pvp involved.

if you are covert rebel, you get shot at.

imperials get some kind of penalty, but dont get shot at.

GCW is PVP. If people dont want to pvp, they cant choose a side. simple as that.

Choosing a side in the GCW and not expecting to get involved or bear any consequence or responsability, and expecting to reap rewards from it... well, its like the French.

'Foolish boy. Don't you know anything about Fantasia? It's the world of human fantasy. Every part, every creature of it, is a piece of the dreams and hopes of mankind. Therefor, it has no boundaries.'
'But why is Fantasia dying then?'
'Because people have begun to loose their hopes and forget their dreams. So the nothing grows stronger. It's the emptiness that's left. It's like a despair, destroying this world. And I have been trying to help it.'
'But why?'
'Because people who have no hopes are easy to control. And whoever has control has the power'

I was a bit dubious about this myself but appluad it after some thought as it put the rebs in their place (Yes I am a rebel player) and give the Imps no real advantage. Rebels are the under dogs and will always will be until the Emporer is killed, also if scans are done byNpcs thenI will be more than happy to show the Imp officer what my sliced flamer can do to him and his squad Getting killed in PvP has never really bothered me and it is forcing people into a situation but if you are tooled for PvE then you can dish out some good damage in PvP also you just need to avoid these cities with the scans. It is just another danger that rebels have to be aware of. Being a rebel in a world like Star Wars your life is very cheap.

I don't think anyone will be forced in to PvP. In order to gain a TEF from scanning, you will have to meet the following conditions:

1. You must be a rebel... a choice you get to make
2. You must be carrying contraband... a choice you get to make
3. You must be somewhere where there are stormtroopers... a choice you get to make

Given all the conditions you must actively choose to meet, I don't see how it can be argued that anyone is "forced" in to PvP. Getting a TEF from being scanned is entirely avoidable. If it happens to you, it is a result of your own decisions.

Uh, no. You get scanned by what looks like a miniature probe droid. It appears on your radar, so Tebels may be able to blow it up (my guy on TC is neutral), but then you still get tef'd. In any case, its not like you get approached by stormtroopers, its just this little thing that floats up next to you (which is kinda hard to see at night) and you get a message that you are being scanned for contraband. If you try to run away, it just follows you.

On one hand I play overt increasingly as it is, so I'm not entirely bothered, but on the other I feel for the poor guys that don't want to PvP but want to feel like they're part of the Star Wars mythos, and it has to be remembered they pay for that privledge. Yes there are risks with taking either side, but really how often do people get nailed when they're out doing missions? If you play smart it doesn't happen often at all. There are degrees of consentual PvP in this game. And I think sliced weapons is a step too far.

Ok, you do realize that imperials either lose rank or get penalized 500 faction points for being cought with sliced weapons and spice aswell right? And alot of imperials I know are saying they would rather a quick death and clone then loseing at least an hour of mission grinding for FP or more if they lose rank.

You guys keep reading the post written by the long winded guy you think is an idiot.

"This got changed, at least for imps who invested in rank. Too bad theres nothing for rebels with rank."

Careful there, increased rebel rank effects would probably include increased penalty.

Look a Rebel Colonel! Kill him!

This doesn't force anyone to PvP either, by joining a faction you make a choice to open yourself to the responsibilities of choosing that particular side. For the Rebels, you have virtually nothing supporting you rather than hope and courage. It's about darn time this was reflected. If you want to avoid confrontations with the Galactic Empire, either become neutral, or become more stealth (sneak around through lightly populated Imperial areas or travel with a smuggler.)

By joining the Alliance you accept that fact that the Empire is going to hunt you down like a dog and try to purge you from the galaxy. It seems many people have forgotten just what shape the Alliance was in during this time period - it was barely an Alliance at all.

The sad thing about this deal is I can already see Smugglers in the near future,if not already, complaining about the slicing branch of their skill tree being utterly useless and a dead end, leading to either a) They get the same treatment from Devs we do and we get yet another class with a basically useless skill tree or b) The Devs give in to them some and end up doing some kind of major change for them requiring them to do as much work to 'tweak' things as it did to implement them in the first place...either way it is a classic example of not totally thinking things through on their part

OK, so we have been mostly focusing on changes to the combat system as it relats to us, but here is something else to chew on. With the new Imperial crackdown, all Rebel players now have a chance to be forced into having a TEF, and this risk is increased with carrying sliced equipment. Now this sounds great on the surface, it probably isnt.

First, players are being FORCED into situations of NON-CONSENSUAL PvP (You hear that TH, something that isnt supposed to be in this game) and I will bet that this gets exploited by some players (like hanging out just outside of cities where newbies hunt and can get scanned).

Second, I dont know about other commandoes, but I carry enough guns, knives, and other weapons plus armor around to deal with different situations, and all of it is sliced. Now if I were to guess, the more contraband you have on you, the more likely you are to get scanned. I dont PvP because its a min/max item based exercise in futility and I really dont want to be forced to do it. On top of that, I really dont want to have all my equipment decay because of it. Oh, and if you want to post that I could just use unsliced weapons, just get real or get lost. Guess it just sucks to be us, again.

Yoiu werent FORCED to join the rebel faction. You chose that. And now rebels will be attacked for carrying contraband. You know this. so you can either do one of many things

A:Leave the rebellion

B:Just be prepared to fight.

C:hire a smuggler

D:quit the game

OK, clearly you and I are on different sides of the fence here, and will probably never agree. Basically, I feel that I shouldnt be forced to participate in PvP because

A: I dont PvP enjoy as it isin this game. PvP is fun for people who are into base raids, which is cool for them. Unfortunately, to be good in PvP in ths game relies little on skill and more on the amount of time you sink in it to get the best equipment and playing the flavor of the month profession(s). Now, we are getting into situation where people will grief this. If I wanted to abuse it, I would just be an imp, get my now unstoppable AT-ST, and go hang out near a major city.

B; I pay 15 bucks a month the same as everyone else, so why should I be forced into doing something that this game sells it self as not having. The whole point of being covert is so that you DONT have to PvP. If you dont understand my position here, I really cant help you understand.

C: Since when did the GCW start. PvP as it stands isa pointless exercise. There is no advantage to winning in PvP tatically, no control of resources, travel routes, nothing. You know why, cause there is no war, just people killing/cloning endlessly. You give me a reason to go fight and I will, but as it stands now, its a waste of time, and with decay, a waste of credits and resources.

PS. Stop using my sig.

I agree with you on some points. but you were making it out to be that you were FORCED into PvP. you simply WERE NOT. you joined the Rebellion of your own accord. The GCW IS *pointless*, but it is there. and to some its fun.If you really despise PvP, then leave the rebellion. While you shouldnt have to., its the way it is. While we disagree on many points, I hope we can continue to be Civil in sucha way

By the way...I got this sig from a thread i created about a month ago, for the official commando motto. It tickled my fancy, so I used it.

I think we are being civil, just two different points of view, You equate PvP and the GCW, I dont, at least not as it stands. Can you honestly say that because I dont want to PvP I should be excluded from the game's content. This is a RPG after all, not a first person shooter. And with regards to the sig, I know that post, I wrote it:
