I was actually thinking 4/3/4/0 pistols for the great dodge and defense, then use a flame thrower for damage. That combination would give me a LOT of defense, and a LOT of firepower. Also if i found something resistant to fire i would have a couple weapons to switch to (featherweight FWG5 or launcher pistol).

Would master comando and master smuggler be a good template? I figure i could make some money from slicing for people since you can't make money from hunting anymore, and then i could grind FS (once i get it) with comando.

The pistol specials line of Smuggler is the most effective when combined with Commando (gives us some better specials with our LP...other then that, the rest of Smuggler isn't "complimentary" with Commando except for making money slicing and slicing your own armor/weapons (which is just generally a nice ability for anyone)...

Most Commando/Smugglers typically only take the one tree of Smuggler to get the pistol specials and then spend the rest (or almost the rest) in Pistoleer for more specials, pistol skill mods and defenses...

Post CU, players will have more reasons to combine with Smugglers...

Never knew that commando/smuggler was such a common template.

Thats probably a good way to go as well... Don't write off using those pistols quite a bit though... I actually do more damage over time with my launcher using last ditch after a panic shot and low blow for a kd... I was doing anywhere from 1000-1800 per shot with last ditch when they are kd'd and with a 2.4 speed launcher that is pup'd to 459 it adds up in a hurry. I might try leading with a flame2 then switch to pistols tonight to see how that works... If a burn lands, hit the same pool as the tick and they might drop pretty quickly. The worst part about the flamethrower, and the thing that has always kicked my butt in pvp in the past, is that you have to be so stinkin close to do the specials, and with the absurd range of melee abilities, it puts you right in range for some nasty state attacks. I would do well until someone hit a good dizzy on me and I got kd'd. After that I was through. That pistol tree you are looking at may become invaluable for those state defenses....

it used to be a heck of alot more common. back in the day when smugglers were alot more plentyful it was quite often the template of choice because the smuggler utility skills(feign death last ditch and slicing) complemented the commando well. not to mention the fact flame throwers took down faction mobs wonderfully. and the fact rocket launchers were about the only thing able to dent an ATST.

the other main template was TK smuggler. but that was never as fun. i tried both and always preferred the smuggler commando. as a previous poster said its fun to act all smuggler like then all of a sudden whip out a flame thrower and make something explode.

i gave it up a long time ago to try out a variety of professions and actually got commando back yesterday so i can get these stupid force boxes out the way. not planning on going jedi. i just want the extra skills.

after i had the 4 or so branches i want from force sensitive i was planning on giving up commando. but its going to be bloody difficult. after getting a flame thrower in my hands yesterday for old times sake, and seeing the surrounding area erupt again in a maelstrom of flame i really think i wont be able to leave commando behind.
