That'd be true with any prof, of course, StarNick
Likely why I'm doing pretty well working my way up and into TK, I've done it before, I know the tricks...veteran at something versus a novice, that pertains to more than just points on a skill tree. And once I finally get into Commando on test (taking forBLOODYever *grumblekvetch*) I'm sure I'll do well. I got faith in me.
Adapt and prosper, or resist and die, pretty much. Or at least wind up cancelling your account(s). Which a lot of people will do, I'm sure...I still think we'll likely get a whole buncha new people coming in, particularly post-EpIII, who'll not know the borked history and think this's the greatest game ever. Who's to say they won't be right, at least as far as they're concerned?

Regardless....
Commandos will have to dabble or outright master other profs for any of the "counter moves" aside from KD recovery. Thats a big disability right there.
As well...don't forget about armour, like all professions we'll have our weaknesses....

I reached flavor of the month last month! Yay me, ahead of the game!
Yah, really...if it DOES become a big thing where everybody's trying it, where's the harm? Most will dabble a little, find out they don't get uber by Incendiary 3, and decide to become bounty hunters or something. Those who stick with it, they just might become credits to the profession, who can say.
And really...we're talking about a prof that requires (post-CU) a LOT of combat XP, a whole heckuva lot, first you go the Ranged Support tree along with Unarmed, then I think it's something like 125K combat XP to get to Novice--or if it wasn't, it sure seemed like it, I still lack a few thousand points to get there
. A good many dabblers will surely get bored trying to raise up that much, I would think. Then there's all the work at getting up in levels in the various branches. Not everyone's got that kind of dedication, and again, those that do, might be the types we'd want to be in the prof.
Sure there may be a bunch who use whatever exploit to get Commando...those, once they find out they can't burninate everything in sight, they might be able to take out a Jedi, but one-shot kills probably not, and I don't think they'll be able to take out all of 'em (doubtful somebody who exploited would know how to take out any of 'em)...they just might decide a different prof will suit them more. Flavors of the month seem to turn sour in peoples' mouths pretty quick one way or another.

On a further note...many folks that are well versed in commando...know exactly what they're going to have to do when the CU comes out. Its simple...not change at all.
Oh we'll be different...we'll actually be potent and to the ability we should be. But for those who have commando and know it well enough (especially in templates that builds around Master Commando, rather than just FT IV)...have been forced to think strategically, and in many cases play a different game as opposed to FOTM play-style. Granted, there are other professions that were in this same boat too...
But my point is, if you're successful as a commando now...you have a leg up compared to folks that think they'll become FOTM by getting commando, and especially when they have no experience as one...

I don´t like the new icons at all.
As to the new combat, I´ll have to try it more but I hear lotsa bad stuff about it. I´ll stay MC in any case, since I´ve had too much fun with it so far to drop it. Hell, it´s the best prof I´ve had!

Its all about setting the target up with your support profs before laying them out with the flamer

Ah Commando as FoTM, I remember way back when, long before buffing really took off, Commando was FoTM.
