We may become a GFOTM then..."Group Flavor of the Month" heh
It's not for the faint of heart. Currently, only the Proton Rifle, Launcher Pistol, and Massassi Knucklers are non-AoE. The Proton Rifle is master cert, everything else has AoE...and in some cases a big radius (grenades have over 20 meter ones).
What does this entail? If you want to pick up commando to be uber-like...you're in for a very rude awakening...and can potentially get your group killed if you use commando weapons improperly...
We're going to have to be very careful in damage management...and think strategically in order not to aggro every mob from here to Kentucky.
Commandoes are nice where they power-up specials...but it does come at a cost you know.

Actually Do we really care?
The fotm people are going to be coming and going all the time. Mostly being a pain in the forum.I don't think any of them will be dabbling far enough into Commando to be that effective; they won't have the points to spend; and not being uber will drive them out.
The Flamer given a lvl 3 is not all that powerful, A Pistoleercan out damage that weapon.
The real power is at Master Commando. The new Flame thrower and rifle will make the difference.
If you do your new template based on supplementing Commando instead of just adding specials for the specials sake you would have one heck of a powerful character. A dabbler in Commando mightbe able to do some damage; but a Master Commando with the right skills will rule the batlefield. I'm gonna stick my nose into Pistoleer and Rifleman special abilities and come out way ahead on the melee defenses I need to survive. All that will cost me are the specific specials of those professions. Specials which I can do without.
I could masterCommando/Rifleman, Commando/Carbineer, or Commando/Pistoleerbut thoseare strickly combat oriented profs.Howare yougonna make a living? Loot is plentiful now so the market for 50 gazillion credit pearls is gone.
You might also check how your character fairs by adding combat prowess and enhanced reflexes.If I drop Pistolsor Rifles I canMaster Combat Prowess, Enhanced Reflexes and Enhanced Senses and barely change the defensive and offensive numbers. I'd probably drop Rifles to keep the psitoleer stuff for my Smuggler side.
Quintuple Masters anyone?

Oh look at my cool Grey Name! Yay no more brownie. So far I'm not really liking the CU cause it's failed to improve the things I wanted like specials being "special". Also iit's rather odd if not bad not to have an auto-attack cause there needs to be some form of turns in an RPG. How can things work evenly if you start half a second late say due to a little lag. That basically means unless there's ways to get past who attacks the fastest the most wins then ya it's not changing cause it's all about the DPS.
At first the Icons seem a little weird but I got use to them. And it's nice having each weapon be different though I swear I don't hear much of difference between some weapons.
However another thing that's bothering me is animations still don't move with your character. Like when you use roll shot you don't roll always once your kneeling. That to me isn't good and means they haven't improved looks. Also it looks like they got lazy and just made Rocket Launchers a Gun instead of making them an equipable weapon we carry and fire on our shoulder. It looks like a big gun not a Rocket Launcher.
Also not having a Combat Que and Auto Attack (You should have an auto attack for every equipable weapon) is going to annoy and I think is ticking people off like me. Of course we do have a sort of an auto attack though it's a tad buggy in TC so that's not so bad.
But what really gets me is how hard it is to tell what's attacking you from where and the TAB key when you dio realize does little to help with multiple targets. I mean that's great for snipers and surprise attacks but can we at least get a little symbol telling us we're under attack like the little sabers we have now? That combat icon if anything of the sort needs to be added back. I also wish the HAM BARs would show over the thing(s) that attack you that way you at least can see what it is and their status. I feel as clueless as NPCs sometimes. Oh and NPCs and creatures still warp and stuff so um yeah!
And instead of making armor a personal Choice for everybody that made it like a weapon that only certain people of the "right" type can use. Great what a waste of all the FP I spent on my 3 sets of ST armor. And it's not s much I don't like assualt armor or the fact that certain professions be better at wearing armor it's that if I want to wear ST armor I have to screw around with a template I might like just to get something I think is cool? Weapons is one thing. Armor I mean come on. Ya Commandos should be good at wearing Assualt Armors but what I want to be more nimble without not being a Commando Bounty Hunter? Guess I can't and I guess I must always walk in my big old armor.
So really besides making everything magically fancy and not really Star Wars like at all and balancing things between professions (Though I'm pretty sure we'll get inbalances again and all problems that TC won't find due to lack of testing time), nothings really changed or been improved is a better way to say it. Maybe things will change and I can only hope they do. But given the lack of time, if you don't like the CU which seem not just something with those of us who are uber but many Vets. Mind you I've only been active on the forums for about 10 months where as I've been playing the game since July 2003. Though I don't play a lot and basically only on the weekends.

depends on where you live , if you are like me and you live in Tn , then its not so cool. . .
if you live in cambodia and have a computer and food and internet and money. . . then it could be a good thing........
