The main thing to remember is THIS JUST WENT IN, this is the baseline for the changes. They will start working from this point to set/change certs.

Once this system is tweaked I expect it to be awesome (and the way it should've been from start). Most likely (as Starnick has alluded to in another thread) heavy weapons will be restricted to Commandos. Though I think grenades should be usuable by all, unless for balance reasons they restrict them.

As an avid shooter in RL (black powder and modern weapons) and ex-miIitary, Isee no reason a Master Rifleman (gen mods, plus rifle mods) cant pickup and use any pistolanduse it semi-effectively (general mods only)...same with carbines.

This is where SOE's poor track record comes into play:

When SOE makes a change, they stick with it and only give it minor tweaks...and refuse to listen when the player-base tells them it's fubar and needs to either be revoked or changed drastically.

And this is why people go "balistic" when something like this happens. When it is put on test center and revealed to the masses its almost always as good as in game. They indeed have a tendency of walking with the view from between their ownbuttcheeks rather then listening to what players have to say about how FUBAR the current change/addition is. And this is why it IS time to panic when something like this pops on test center from out of the blue.

They will not be as proficient with heavy weapons unless they have commando skills.

So, we are going from "wow, that AT-ST/turret is tough...wish we had a commando or two" to

"EVERYONE take out the rocket launchers and fire at will!!!"

I foresee a lot of people picking up commando 0200 only to take out bases.

I love this profession, I wish we had a role in the CU.

Not sure if it was already mentioned, but this morning Helios informed us that Commando weapons will remain cert'd in our skill box and not be subject to the new level system...Only Commandos will be able to use Commando weapons...We are the exception because of how our weapons operate differently then any other weapon in game post-CU (they make Commando specials out of any other special used with them).

Helios also reported that other weapons, like the T21, will be skill box restricted as well...many of the higher level weapons will require you actually take up the profession to get the weapon...the new level system is just to give folks access to lower level elite weapons mainly for grinding purposes (if I'm grinding Rifleman and already finished Pistoleer, I get rewarded with an easier grind by being able to use a more powerful Rifleman weapon...but I won't be able to use a T21 until I MASTER Rifleman)....

This is very good news BUT...

Will we be getting the shaft with general ranged mods? will we be able to pick up a carbine we are skilled enough to use but be far worse then any other profession because we lack generic mods?
