Thread: Trying to sum up the current CL cert thing for us commando lovers
ok first off im not really sure about what im gana say because i havent tested it yet.
But lets look at the devs logic here. They made certs now so every1 can use any weapons. But u guys are forgetting that even though say some rifleman/BH at cap lvl can hold a plasma FT, he will probably a) Not deal great damage like a master commando. b) Will probably miss a hell of alot, 99% of his shots will miss i assume since he probably will have 0 heavy weapon acc skillmods. So guys Im pretty sure commando are safe and not screwed. Think about it, if the devs wanted every1 to use a commando weapon like a commando, then why do they still have the profession? This lvl cert benefits ppl at low elite lvls, and professions like smug or BH that have pistol, carb skills and only have like 2 or 3 weapons they could use. Now a smug can get another profession beside pistoleer and have all the pistols at his disposal. Anyways thats my opinion on this issue.

I agree all our weapons, or at least most of them fall into this category. Unfortunately this is not the case on TC at the moment, as every single commando weapon goes into category 1 (CL only) at this time.
I do hope they change it. There is still plenty of time. I don't want to rant and rave about the current state of CU, I just hope they change their minds and switch some of them back to category 2.

In order to get rifleman specials, one must pick up the rifleman profession. Sure, anyone of sufficient "level" could use a T-21, but only the Rifleman has the specials to go with it.
In order to get commando specials, on the other hand, all one must do is pick up a commando weapon, which now anyone of sufficient level can do. Meaning there is NOpoint to being commando. Sure, you could get the bonuses to heavy weapons speed and accuracy, but you can get mods that account for the same thing from GENERAL speed and accuracy from other professions. So there's really no reason to bother with commando.
If this is how they plan to work it, they might as well just remove the commando profession from the game, since there's no point in picking it up.

commando with no weapon specials/no special weapons useable by no other class=A waste fo skill points. As others have said, general wepon mods by other classes more then compensate for our "special" heavy weapon mods. Not to mention other classes get defensive mods to boot that commandos dont get AND higher speed mods. So potentually a pistoleer/carbaneer could out damage/speed a master commando with his own heavy weapons.
