Thread: Flame Blankets have gone too far.
i dont agree there garvin as ive seen these used on my server against fire dot and commandos and if the doc has mind food and buffs it doesnt effective him at all from what ive seen as his mind regens fast enough so they can use them alot ,
A;so just to add i have pike man to and have being commando as well and i find that the Fire Dots on the lances are other weapons are far more effective then a commando flame dot which i findto be pathetic

I dunno, 80% composite pretty much makes our attack bounce off. Max I've hit for against that is like 600, when the guy had around 3k HAM.
When fighting a, say, TKM/Doctor wearing 80% composite...which would you rather happen:
You hit a /flamesingle2 on them to place a DoT, they continue to spam so many hits and KD's on you that, thanks to the delay, you are never even able to get off another special....
OR...
You hit a /flamesingle2 on them to place a DoT, the take a break for spamming unarmed attacks on you to dose the DoT with a fire blanket which takes just enough time to hit them with another /flamesingle2...and the new damage done by your second /flamesingle2 is combined with the first attacks damage + the mind damage the TKM just did to themselves via using the blanket...Probably not enough to kill a well buffed opponent...but more damage done to your opponent in the first scenerio...
Everywhere except Tatt, someone can just run to water to put out our DoT with no effects (no mind drain like the blanket and no Doctor Requirement)...So even a Doc would be dumb to use a Blanket in a fight unless they were VERY far away from water OR on Tatt...and even in that case, they could probably spam so many moves on us, we'd be dead before the DoT did any significant damage...
I am still having trouble seeing how Fire Blankets are hurting Commandos in anyway...again, I stand behind the idea "Any thing that our opponent does during a fight that DOESN'T attack us is in our favor".

Garvin, you had a good point about the TKA/Doc combo and in a solo fight against that exact template - you are right.
Chances of that happening are slim to none....
Where the fireblanket is causing a problem, in my experience, is during group fights. In a group fight, most Docs ar not actually fighting - they are busy removing states, doing cures or providing back-up heals to the CM's (those that are not busy poisoning everything into oblivion for no cost) - so they never actually stop "doing things" to us. Your "breathing space" is moot under these circumstances.
I am not sure what else to say at this point - I would love to be more constructive about this topic, I am not into bashing just for the sake of bashing (not meaning you personally - I am refering to the game mechanics) Maybe someone else has some better thoughts about this.

Group is defintely a different story...but in a group setting, even without a Fire Blanket on hand a Doc can heal DoT damage faster then it can apply...heck, a solo player can heal the DoT damage with a good StimB or Cfairly fast...
The blanket only puts the DoT out...it doesn't heal the damage done...the Doc would be better off healing the player rather then putting the weak DoT out...
If we still had our Pre-Nerf DoT that would be another story...Look how much our DoT's tick for and at the speed they tick...then look at how much a good Stim B or C can heal...With a good stim pack, you can easily out last the DoT damage until the Timer runs out...
Thats one of the reasons I tried to tell people blinded by our boost in initial damage while our DoT damage was reduced that we didn't get a good thing...We needed our DoT damage more then we needed the initial boost...Damage over time is more important in fights that don't end with the first hit...Personally...if I had my way, I'd reduce our initial damage back down to pre-nerf levels if it meant we could get our higher DoT damage back...
