Thread: Star Wars: Empire at War
- Empire: Star Destroyers, Death Stars, Super Star Destroyers, Stormtroopers. Oh, and blowing planets up that support the Rebels. It's always cool to see a whole sector become more loyal to the Empire by the mere entry of a Death Star and accompanying warships and TIEs
- Playing as the Rebels was a challenge. I preferred to ignore the ridiculous looking newer ships they can get. I stuck to canon/movie starfighters & ships. It made it a whole lot more challenging.
- Planetary Bombardments.
But that awful interface... so many windows popping up every few seconds. Your right forefinger hurts after a while.
As for Rebellion's UI, I will say it again. It was bad. BAD I say! There were so many windows popping up, the next time I saw something similiar was using Internet Imploder with windows popping up all over the place. Remember, I bought both FC and Rebellion, lol!
And you owned Trespasser? I'm sorry... But that's alright. As long as you didn't get Daikatana, then you're still fine. Man, was that a train wreck.
With FC, Id say two of the greatest problems involved was: Cam/UI system and the "command point" system
Btw...I did like the techno imperial march...
empire earth
rise of nation
dawn of war
the first one include a nice tech evolution and the z axis is neatly used, along with cover that work even against the cpu
the best point of the second one is the tech tree and the map system (some like the total war serie, but simplified)
the last one has a nice AI specialy when you get used to the squad system. Morals are an important (and esay) way to disatch your opponent. of course the AI do not take much initiative, but just enought to simplify your life.

Correction: own.
(I try to play it once in a while just because the physics system is so funny, but I get bored after about30 minutes and go do something fun... like homework or studying).Didn'tDaikatana fortunately, hehe. Though I do have Chaos Island. Fortunately that was a gift, so I'm absolved from the notoriety of having actually payed for that... thing (imagine the original C&C - only with dinosaurs and all unit animations having 1/4 the number of frames).
Fortunately, those two games taught me one thing: Read the reviews before you buy something, especially if it's been hyped for ages. That, and it taught to me distrust strange game developers I've never heard of like whatever company they had working on Force Commander. At least with Empire at War I know the game has a 90% chance of being a solid and fun, even if it doesn't revolutionize anything.
And ont he techno music thing, even if the Imperial March was decent enough, there's no way you could tell me that you liked all the techno rebel music that just sounded so... blah. At least the Imperial one had some kick to it.
Ah well, then again I don't really listen to anything other than Classical/Orchestral music (with a few exceptions I can count on one hand... maybe two) so maybe it's more of a personal taste thingy...

This gives alot of flexibilty to the game. I wonder if they will liscense that engine since it can handle hordes and big unit.
Trolls/ents= ATST, elehpants=ATAT, eagles=xwings
I think we are going to see ALOT of similarities between the two games.
