just for the sake of it, im going to flipflop this.

what if we logged on tomarrow, and they had added a new dungeon. EVERYONE would be hanging out there, and it would be so crowded that you wouldnt have any fun anyway. remember the GEO cave and the DW bunker? seriously... blaaah. if you want to do it and have fun, you have to wait until everyone loses interest. i have more hope for the CU. people will be enjoying the overall benefits of combat, improved, and any available quests would be sort of fresh.

I like the recent exodus myself... less lag.

I wouldn't say SWG is dying.

What I would say is it's not what it could & should be. SWG has the potential to be one of the greatest things for a Star Wars fan. But right now, it's not even reaching into that potential.

When I watched the Original Trilogy DVDs, I sat there and compared SWG to it. Yes, we have graphics and in-game Stormtrooper Armor, X-Wings, static Emperor & Darth Vader. But even with all this, it feels to me that we are soooo far away from achieving that Star Wars feel in SWG.

Like I said, SWG isn't dying. It's just not living up to the potential that it could be. Worse, it's not living up to the Star Wars "feel" and immersion some people, including myself, were hoping for. That is why you see some veteran players leaving.

I won't say anything for the new players, since they're still in that "new" phase in SWG. That phase, IMO, was the greatest feeling of this game. Honestly, I truly envy the new players discovering everything for the first time in the game. But for me, I finally have seen enough done enough, and I wish it could have been more. More Star Wars.

I would say at least for the moment SWG is in trouble. The guild Im in has lost many leaders to EQ and WOW and COH. Recently our guild has just Re-Done the entire leadership and council of the guild because of this, including getting a new Player City Mayor. We were in trouble, but I think if everyone cares enough to make things better we can survive.

I still agree that a lot of new changes need to be made in SWG to get new people and keep the interests of vet. players, but Im not going anywhere as of yet.

I would like to see Commando stop being bent over though. We really do get the worst end of mostly everything. Anyone see any "USEFUL" new loot stims for commandos? Im commando, and I almost never use thrown weapons. Any new Weapons for commandos? Any Attachmetns for Commando that work, again... that dont involve thrown weapons? As far as attachments andweapons go Commando and TK are just about the most screwd proffessions. Get the Attachments fixed, and Bring us new Weapons!!!

I've recently picked up EQ2 and WoW and I must say they are both much more fun to play. I thought JTL was a pretty well done expansion and I did have some fun with it, but that just isn't enough when I know they've let the ground game stay so horribly bad for so long. Their aren't many online games that could last this long while being such a piece of *&^%, but this game does carry the title "star wars" so I guess it doesn't matter that the game goes down for an hour everyday for the last year. Just wondering how many people will be around when it is worth playing.

This is why we need:

1) More Corvette style dungeons...instanced

2) Individual Profession Quests (remember my Halo 2 post?)

3) A release of MULTIPLE static dungeons at once, not a bloody one every 6 weeks that gets spammed to hell and back.

4) Storylines similiar to what can be found in WoW that can be done by players (essentially monthly Arc stories and quests you do to enhance your character...NOT jedi related though)

SWG is only "appearing" to die due to its lack of story...combat atm is actually fairly working, but overly unbalanced. Hence a Revamp...combat as it currently is, can get unbalanced easily...hence a new system under CURB, and quite possibly a system that can resist unbalancing when new stuff is added in...why?...because its simplier - yet effective.

That, and a more star warsy feel (we need to be able to land on space stations and go up in capital ships or something!)

durring the beta, i actually presented the whole capitol ship and space station thing to the devs on the forum, including a way they could integrate it with the current code, and enhance it to create interesting gameplay.

they told me theyd get back to me on that.

When I first heard of JTL I was hoping not only for ship to ship combat but capital ship to capital ship combat. I thought space was going to be just about endless and have, well, alot of space. I would have been extremely sweet to be able to invade capital craft and take them over on foot (PvP wars in the halls of a stardestrower anyone). Oooohhhhh to be able to walk around in the space stations and actually hop into the cockpit of your ship and guide it out off the deck fo that space station whould have had me on the floor in fits of extesecy. Its all those little things that add that starwarsy feel. Honestly corenet should have filled up half of corellia as an uber city dungeon in itself for people to explore the dirty underworld so predominent in the SW universe.

But sadly, we got the traditional MMO world of wilderness. space is one giant box we all fly in and for some reason cluttered with stuff everywhere. I would have been happy if the only thing out in space besides the stations was the background. just so long as space was just about endless. Theres only one capital craft in JTL and its the Star Destroyer in deep space. Everything else is a corvette or some sort of sub capital ship. Not one station, asteroid or satelitte to walk in or on. And if any one says they can't convert a whole planet into a city, go look at cities of heros. THEY CAN DO CORCUSAUNT!!!!!! Hell throw in cloud city, some cities on the mon calamari planet. some space asteroids that were converted into space casinos!!!!!

Star Wars wasn't about sitting around on planets then going into space. it was about walking around in ships, complexes, space stations with space just on the other side of the window The only planets that the heros ever went to in the movies were naboo, tatooine, degoba, hoth, endor and cloud city. and only for sourt amounts of time and specific reasons. Our planets should have been those massive space stations, complexes, capital ships, cities, and maybe even the second death star under construction.

How sweet would have it been if imp players had a mission that required then to go down into the depths of that station to fix some sort of reactor, pipe, weapon system, or even the laser cannon superstructure itself. Now thats a quest for the artisans!!! the only time players should have stepped down onto the planets was for something specific; and then a ranger would have been required for the journey because they were a death trap beyond semi civilized areas.

The Starwars feel will forever be missing from this game because of they way they approached the creation of the environment, which is the traditional MMO environment. The devs biggest mistake in that endeaver was starting with out one of the biggest factors of star wars, space. without that layer the game was crippled from the get go.

I might take a break to go play WoW some point myself, the game is fun, and coming back to SWG should be a bit fresher.

Of course that won't happen for a while because I'm rather cheap, but still.

I wonder if SOE knows people are sick and tired of waiting? I wonder if Lucas Arts is aware of this?

It just seems strange to me that the most loyal fan base has been pushed off and pushed off for "Newer" or less passionate consumers. It's odd to me. Perplexing actually.

At first, I was interested in WOW when it was in it's intitial stages. I like Blizzard (I even busted "Shlongers" footman rush back in the day!) and almost took a Blizzard job. So my heart is there a bit. BUT, I'm not a huge fan of the Kiddie Cartoonish world of WOW. Plus I have a strong passion for Commando in SWG and our future. I have a Job and Commitment to this place and you guys. Maybe that's what makes me Commando. I dunno.

Every delay of information makes me less, and less inclined to say "Hang in there Commandos"...and lean more towards, " I hope you come back Brothers!".

The Commando thread "Over There" is quite popular. I may go as far as saying that the respect all of US have gained togetheris a huge part. We're Commandos damnit!
