It is my currently understanding that the /ui action toolbarslot command will still work EXACTLY the same in any macro with the exception of not being able to target a macro on the toolbarslot...it can still target weapons, specials, armor, crafting devices, etc...just not macros...so as long as your combat macro doesn't loop, no worries and if it does need to repeat, just copy/paste it a couple of hundred times within the original macro...

Personally, I would hate to think there are Macro Combat Loopers out there...what's the point to playing a combat game if you just loop all your attacks...

2 points on this: 1) CoB loopers—I don't do it, although I have a macro set up for if I felt like it, but a lot of people do. 2) My armor macro isn't recursive, but it does call other macros…I may be able to rewrite t so it doesn't call other macros, but it's going to be a PitA. Either way, I guess getting rid of macrotainers is worth it (yes, I'd rather go around with 1000BF than have so many zombies packing the cantinas. I remember when there were almost no macrotainers, and I miss those times.)

CoB loopers will still be able to do what they do without looping...they'll just create a macro with extra lines like:

/centerofbeing;
/pause 200;
/centerofbeing;
/pause 200;
/centerofbeing;
/pause 200;
/centerofbeing;
/pause 200;
/centerofbeing;
/pause 200;
/centerofbeing;
/pause 200;
(repeat about 200 more times in the macro...if the fight is still going after the macro completes, restart it...the pause is just a sample...don't use CoB very much so not sure how long it lasts)...

Most Armor Macros I know of you have to have all your armor in your toolbar slots...you will still be able to target those toolbar slots (as far as I understand...but still waiting for verification) so you'll still be able to use armor equip macros...

People always whine and complain that they can't loop stuff. So my crafting macro won't be able to be looped, i'll just copy and paste it so that in each button push it runs the macro about 3 or 4 times then just push it again, it's not like i can be afk crafting macroing anyway. I'm just glad i got the surveying out of the way while i was able to afk that...I actually did surveying not afk during beta and i shall NEVER do it again.

This doesn't bother me at all. I don't use macros except if I'm sellin somethin and I never do so when I'm AFK. So things get boring and repetitive. If the game is boring don't play. Half the people on in cities are AFK with macros on. I don't even watch AFK Entertainers if all possible. So there may be only 1 or 2 entertainers in a cantina now. The reason lag is so bad is because there are all these people on who aren't actually on. People are getting mad because that some things are actually gonna require them to do somethin and that they won't be able to get mind buffs so easy now.

Most armor macros. Mine is ridiculously complex, but like I said, I think I can rewrite it to work without referential macros. Either way, I'll live with whatever they do (just gotta grind out BE before they get rid of recursion, then I'm home free hehe. )

Hmmm... I dont know how great this is. I wasnt going to say anything here but I do want to point out to the people that like this idea what potentially is going to happen.

I am assuming that both of you are fighters. I am also assuming that both of you get hit in the head from time to time and need mind healing as well as some BF taken away. Almost all of the entertainers in the cantinas are afk, however they are still providing a service that is technically free. You have the choice to tip. How are they hurting anyone? Because they are getting xp? The higher they are the faster you heal so who cares. The entertainers are providing a service to the combat players that would be much rarer if it wasnt for the recursive macros.

How many buff bots do you guys go to? Instead of waiting 15 minutes in Coronet, IF there happens to be a doctor buffing at the same time you are playing, wouldnt you rather got to a buff bot and wait maybe 5 minutes? Are you upset with them because they are getting money while they are not online? Again why would you care? They are providing a much needed and greatly appreciated service to the community by buffing people at "off times" as well as being able to go to a doctor for buffs whenever you want. How about mind buffs as well from entertainers? You have to have a master musician and a master dancer to get a full set of mind buffs. Brandy might be nice, but slap on some mind buffs on top of that and you are golden.

I dont agree with you two one bit. It is a terrible solution to the problem. If they take out macros then they should attempt to implement a "buff bot mode" for doctors and entertainers alike. I dont like wasting my time in line, seraching and begging for buffs (especially mind)and I dont think you do either.

I predict this will end badly. I think that if they try to eliminate recursive macro's, its going to essentially nullify the reason that they were put in the game, which was to level the playing field between those people that know how to use 3rd party macros and those that don't. Futher, its going to add yet another level of tedium to a game that has far too much in it already. Lastly, this may very well have unintentional negative consequences, such as affecting the use of consumable items (food, spices, and weapons) where people have macros setup to target items in secondarytoolbar panes.At this stage in the game, where hologrinding is almost null (with the imminent publish 10), I think its very shorsighted and spiteful to the current playerbase to make a change that will only affect people who actually want to do a certain professionas opposed to if this change was implemented prior to holocrons to preventpeople from mindlessly grining through professions.

Short version: This is a moronic, shortsighted, pointless decision that will alienate more customers then it will appease.

Why is it that you, and so many other people, consider gaining xp to be a grind? this concept is one of the reasons you don't enjoy the game...

You want to be a master doctor? spend atime leveling medic by going out with a group of other newbies and healing them in the fight(i mean real newbies with no money and crappy weapons and the intent to play their character rather than grind)then work to get up doctor, crafting the meds and buffs you need, doing basic buffs for your combat friends who are slowly working their way through an elite profession now etc.

There is plenty of low end content in this game begging to be enjoyed so go and play to gain xp instead of 'grinding' and then saying it is boring and how you don't like it. Of course grinding is boring, you were never supposed to be doing it.. there is an enjoyable way to do the same thing, try doing it that way with a group of like minded individuals and you'll probably enjoy the game a lot more.

They are hurting those who really want to play an entertainer, those who are jumping for joy at the thought of getting their cantinas back, far to many people would rather watch silently and for free and afk entertainer / buffbot than deal with a real entertainer, pay them, have a conversation and enjoy a touch of socialising while their BF is healed or their mind buff applied.

You don't want to waste your time looking for buffs? don't use buffs, hunt lower end content without buffs or in a group... The big reason for these changes is to remove these bots, to make yo be social and interat with other players, if all you want to do is shoot things then why not go play an FPS? It is not very difficult to obtain doc buffs and once these changes go in and all the entertainer buff bots disappear you will find it much easier to find a real entertainer willing to give you mind buffs for a fee too i suspect.

buff bots arent going anywhere.

shoot things yeah it is the gcw after all

thay cant force anyone to be social or interact

if all you want to do ischat try msn

anyone looking for buffs on gorath just go to ragnarok naboo very active city buffers are always around an hour after restartuntil shutdown

if the entertainers are having so many problems with the afk hologrinders maybe joining an active city would help instead of going to wherethe afkers cluster up

This issue will not just effect Entertainers and Medics but will be devastating to aspiring Crafters as well. Being able to loop macros greatly reduces the amount of clicking needed to click an item, and from personal experience, this is a must. Having 200K of a resource would become a chore to gain skill with and as a result, I believe that less people would move into the crafter professions.

The only upside I can see to this is that it would discourage hologrinders, but now they are all gone anyway.

If this is a closed issue and no matter what any of us say does any good, then please use some sense with programming and make it so that only the slot selected can't be looped into.

Actually, it won't be so devastating to new crafters as some are thinking...I have grinded a few crafters and I'm very familiar with their crafting macros (Architect, Artisan, Droid Smith, Medic, Doctor, Combat Medic)...

Currently their looping macro requires them to still be at the computer to click on the resources to use...TH has already said that LONG macros can be used...so all a new crafter has to do is copy/paste their macro over and over in the same macro (say 10 or so times)...then when they finish the last repeated session, start the macro over...that would just add 2 more seconds to their grinding...

That is only if the /ui action toolbarslot command isn't going away, but instead just being altered not to target macros...some are speculating that the command is being removed, but we haven't received official confirmation of that...if it isn't removed, there is no major impact to the Crafting profession...just a very very slight one...
