Thread: Heres an idea: move flamesingle2 to Master
Define Dabbler Please.
I never had any intention of mastering an elite profession. Having a Master Tag isn't particluarly important to me, never has been and never will be. I made nov commando a long time ago, long before I even had a clue it was broken. Once I did find out it was broken, I didnt just drop it and move on. I just played with a couple more professions (rifle and CH). I got attached to CH and don,t want to lose what i have there either. With the fixes in commando I could play it and not feel like i was cluttering up the screen uselessly. Actually be of value.
My Char will be considered finished one i reach Com 0,4,4,0 and Ch 4,3,0,4 with nov medic and nov rifle to spare.I stand at com 0,2,4,0 and CH 3,2,1,3 right now and have some work to do. Once upon a time i had field tactics one and obviously ill also be surrendering creature empathy 1 in the CH line. I didnt and dont want to but they are just that Sacrifices I make in building my character how I want it. This combo has a bit more in CH than i really ever intended but atm usin the points for partial trees in commando can't be justified. Acid rifle, for example. It was the original reason I wanted to be a commando/Rifle. Launcher pistol used pistol specials so i imagined Acid rifle to use rifle specs.... NOPE. Right now its just a considerably slower less accurate version of my flamethrower so blowing 14 points on that tree cant be justified. Only bonus for acid right now is usin it to avoid screen clutter in groups that might mind the flame balls of death flying all over. Grenades fall into almost the same boat. Why should I? They get expensive for the ones that actually achieve much and I will admit I havent looked into them overly much because they seem redundant in the bigger scheme of a fight.
So what you are sayin Is that I should have to spend 28 skill points plus whatever master costs after putting in all this time just so i can get a THIRD special for flame along with the couple of acid specials I still wont use and give my life and soul only to commando. All that skill just so i can get that special? As it is I have lots of peeps tellin me I should do it just for Flame Cone 2. Most of them thinking along the same lines of anything that isnt mastered is Dabbling.
I consider myself a commando first and foremost. Way back when I looked at the available professions and set my sights on it. I have never shared that mystique that SW bounty hunters seemed to have picked up over the years. Boba Fett def isnt some sort of hero to ME, heh. So commando just seemed a nobler class. The fact that I have more skill in CH means little to me. I dont PvP much and my combo works great against mobs and will work better once I finish with it.
If the commando tree changes to make thelines more useful I would definitely find the points somewhere and obvioulsy it would come from CH. Course Im probably just a Dabbler there too since i dont intend to master it.
Heres a little aside note. They should Make stim a's usable by ANYONE. Everyone in the game runs around with Nov medic at a cost of 15 points. We all use Stim b's of course. Talk about dabbling. Free up those 15 points for better use and see what we can do with them.

You get xp when you hit'em at least once after the initial dot, try to it FC 2 once, then let all the monsters die, you'll get only xp for the first one, the one you targeted.
In fact, you only put the DOT on the others, their health isn't even touched.
Not true in all situations - if the enemies you don't have specifically targetted have not entered combat with anything, then yes, this seems to be true. If they are in combat with anything at all, they will take damage normally.
I mean, enough defense so that a dabbler can only do a max of 300 damage pershot to us... and for us masters? It will make our fights longer and more spectacular ![]()
Exactly what my points were. As it stands go ahead and call me a dabbler. I dont see the use in wasting a bunch of skill points on redundant skills. To make it even more clear you take away flame single 2 for flame 4 i will simply get rid of flame 3-4 and free up those points too. So it costs me some accuracy,I can live with it. Frankly, I think its bad that other commandos would wishill on any other commando... whatever their skill level or intent on mastering it. Yes, master should have some real benefits to it but, not at the expense of any one tree. Nothing on the box said i HAD to master any profession.
If I intended on making my character a Com 0,4,0,4 what would peeps call me? Dabbler? Probably not. Uninformed.... eccentric maybe... most likely Idiot. Let me choose what i want for my character with the skill points i have available and what is put in front of me. If master commando becomes useful AND the trees I dont and wont use become useful, then I'd probably look at mastering commando. Till then, It isnt justifiable.

Oh and this is a two way sword.
If you all are so intent on saying that people shouldnt "dabble" in commando then think what you yourselves are in your other professions. How many of you have Smuggler simply so you can Feign death? Or Pistol skills...TKA skills.... etc.Why did you pick the ones you have? Do you just feel free to dabble away at those professions yourselves while saying others who did the work to get to commando which, as we all know takes considerable effort and time no matter how you look at it, are being bashed for only gettin specific commando skills?
Again, make master worth something but NOT at the expense of another tree.

Oh yeh, and i have to say this again. Make stim a's useable by everyone and let us all get rid of dabbling (gotta love that word eh?) in medic.
These dabbler topics arecrap. Everyone in this game is a dabbler, or they've decided not to use all their skill points for purist reasons. Gimmie a break, that's just silly.
How many dabble in medical, or scouting...etc?
Everyone dabbles in something.
