Thread: Pondering over Pistoleer skills
First, let me get this out of the way. I am the ultimate dabbler.
Commando 0/4/4/0 - Reasons are obvious.
Pistoleer 0/4/4/0 - Cause I am harder to hit when I am moving and this makes it easier for me to hit you.
TerasKasi 0/0/0/4 - Can't sneeze at 20pts to both ranged and melee defense.
Fencer (yes fencer) - 4/0/0/0 An extra 19pts to range, 14pts to melee and 5pts to block.
Medic 2/1/0/0 - Again Obvious
You are all missing the two best pistol skills for a commando. And the best part, you already have them.
Suppression Fire and Warning Shot.
I have won numerous duels by keeping other commandos away from me by forcing a posture change or allowing me into Flame range against players that know what is comming. Or better yet, giving me the time to set up for a HPC or RL shot.
And forget UA or other melee players. They are not getting anywhere near you till you are ready for them.
Leading off with suppressive fire, followed by both bleeds and another suppressive really puts the other guy in a bad way as you roll up with your Flame thrower.\
As for PvE, warning shot is a great tool to give you time to heal if your bleeds and flame dot's are not working as fast as you would like.

Double Tap is a random shot where u can hit health AND action AND mind so its not that great for what ur lookin for
I switched from master pistoleer to commando and the specials tree helped in getting up the flame tree, but to be honest fan / stopping / double / disarm / are all useless in combination with a flamer, all you really need is HealthShot2 once youve got flame1.
What i do is start of with a pistol (dx2 or launcher depending on which the enemy is weaker to ), speed is the key, slap on healthshots, once the bleeds kick in, close em down to line up your FlameSingle1/2 (pets help), once landed switch to launcher and back away to heal and let default attack andDoT kill em.
Twisterr,
Even in the scenario you laid out, pistol specials are not "useless".
If you battle plan is to back off after landing your flame shots, why on earth would you switch to a launcher or dx2 and only use the base attack? If you are going to switch back to the pistol after flame (accuracy and speed would be the prime reasons, maybe for a suppresive fire if you need breathing room for a heal) you would still want the best dps you could get. That means using pistol specials. If not, you should not be switch weapons at all.

Yeah, I guess that is a little missleading. I have never actually strung them together in a row like that. But, that is a typical duel for me.
Posture change to keep my distance till I get my bleeds then posture change again, with me it is usually for the RL or the HPC. I seldom use flame unless they close the distance with me. I prefer to stand off. My defense works better that way I believe.
I am pretty sureI have gottenmore then one posture change in 30secs. But, that is anecdotal evidence. I have never kept track in a fight, so you are prob. right.
Thanks for the correction
