I have been a commando scince Beta three, but only recently have I masterd it. I was delayed by holo grinding for a bit, but I too never once gave up a single commando skill.

Actually I like how they're doing the GCW PvP in JTL...and im looking forward to duking it out with players....

There are times when i wanna fly my A-Wing and do exploring and other cool stuff in space...not all of us want to have to worry about combat every second in space - yes its dangerous, but thats NPC danger

This definately will not be a problem, as alot of ppl will most likely be overt anyways....but its nice when you have the option to take a breather and just joy-ride for a bit....

Space is dangerous, but it shouldn't always be that way....going up in space is not ALL about combat, its cool enough to fly around and explore the vastness of space

Sorry about the threadjack, lol, but the covert system is fine. It's just that neutral players will be able to fly factional ships AND will be able to be all 3 pilot professions. Factional players will be able to fly ships from only their faction, and will only be able to be 2 of the pilot professions. Right now this system heavily favors neutral players...

Yes I agree..gives an incentive to go neutral...

It should really be that Rebels can be Privateers....so can Imps...but Neutrals ONLY privateers

I started on the path to Commando back in August 2003 (when I first picked up SWG)... it took me until September to get (curse ye unarmed IV!) but I got there. I kept master until around march of this year when I dropped the HAR and Field Tactics so I could pick up the dirty fighting line from smuggler (was Master pistoleer as well.) Then I ended up dropping commando to pursue my 3rd holocron (and final) BE back in June , originally intending to pick it up again.

Around this time, the BH changes came as well, so I decided to get BH and test it out on the way, contemplating making a hybrid BH-Commando template. Since then I've dropped most of BH aside from the pistols (I've got a DE-10 with 419 max damage without a P-Up, but the speed is 3.8) which I've got up to box 2 on right now, and picked up some TKA defenses.

For the time being, I'm keeping my template the way it is, as my DE-10 is the pride of my arsenal (though it's kind of annoying that I have to have some BH skills to use it well.) Having played commando as my first elite, I had no clue just how underpowered we were in comparison to other professions, and right now I see no reason to master commando again as nothing has really changed in the profession, and I see no reason to be self-limiting while I wait around for a fix/revamp (I waited for nearly 6 months patiently and hopefully.) I might go back some day when the combat balance comes, but until then, I'm going to stay a master of light sidearms (which ironically isn't that much better off, but meh, at least I can fire faster and have 125 accuracy.)

Though if I manage to unlock my jedi slot I'm gonna transform my 2nd character into a Commando Shipwright.

Regardless, I always will remain a commando in spirit (as you can see in my sig), and might add that I frequent this board more than the ones for the professions I actually do have right nowin hopes of positive changes.

Plus, this community is much more fun to hang around for the most part. We've all seen the worst end of the combat spectrum, so we can only look up really.

Just to not hi-jack my post (and sorry about semi-aiding the hijack in this way ) I'd like to add that from what I've been able to gather, you can't be more than one flight profession simultaneously, or at most you could only be neutral and one faction. You can't choose to be aligned with the Imperial Navy and the Rebel Navy at the same time, so that's not really an issue. If they want GCW in JTL, they can still only do it for one faction.

The only thing neutral players really get is the ability to be covert most of the time.

Just to get this thread back on track

started my path to Commando on the way home from the store, after i read throught the professions in the caron Retail +3, took me 3 months to Master, havent dropped a skill yet. although i did make a BH / commando dabbler on TC2, that i might switch too until they do decide to look at commandos and revamp us.

The Few...the Proud...The Stubborn!

Stern Synex is also a character in stories I work with, a commando there...I tied the ending of the book im writing into the opening of SWG (the ship thing and being taken by the empire....Stern dissapears through a trans-galaxy spanning wormhole after the war that gripped his home galaxy....unknown fate)

So not only am Ia proud commando...but I also uphold my own continuity...

Keep em coming

I can't even remember when I became a commando.

All I know is I have mastered it 5 times...

Currently 2 characters with master...

Every character I have had and deleted..had MCommando in his planned template...Every friggin one...

And I've felt like a gimp since the days of the 2.5X damage bonus...when I was killed by durnis...cuz I couldnt hit them as a master commando..and there were 6 of them, doing 100 damage a second to me....

Was a Master twice..Never dabbled...

The first time, I wasa master for about 6 or 7 months on my main char...

Then one night, after playing with a launcher pistol in Coronet starport, I got the itch to make loud noises again (maybe it was the Mexican food I ate that night....Sorry, I digress) and decided to give it another go...I love the flamer, I love the animation for the Rocket Launcher, and I love the launcher pistol...Sadly, thou, I am realizing yet again why I dropped it before...I am resisting the urge to, but it gets harder everyday

Hmm.8 months, 3 as master IIRC. Despite everything, it doesn't look like I'll be dropping it any time soon either.

Formerly:
Pedr-Dwl Wibble - Gunslinging tracker for hire on Farstar - Staff Cpl, Imperial auxillary
Elisa von-Smolloff - Pyromaniac bird of Infinity - Cpl, Rebel special forces
Now gone.
Doesn't see the point of a bile-venting "I'm leaving" thread.
