Just wondering...have a friend/guildee that is going weaponsmith and I have been funding him through it (gone through nearly 3 mil credits on him already). He has promised me all the weapons I can ever desire, how can I get a PVP worthy Flamethrower out of him? I know krayt tissue helps but what else is needed to get the high damage and speed? I am posting this in the commando forums too.

Don't forget about all the best spawn resources for the job, that will probably take you the longest. I'd look at www.swgcraft.com for the right resources on your server.

Are the regular barrels loot or crafted too? Also, i often find in locked containers items called "Balanced feed mechanism", can these help or are they rubbish? I think they have stats something like speed -0.1 min 25 max 25.

Oh the irony!!!

Before you get your hopes up, I hope you understand that PvP and Commando do not fit in the same sentance.

just regular crafted barrels. advanced barrels have higher damage (which you almost don't notice on a FT) but are 0.1s slower.

And commando can be very fun in pvp with a little bit of effort....not an uber prof, but still viable imo...Stop the negativism dammit!

Just stating a fact bro. No negativity at all intended. I'll even say it in a positive tone. "Look everyone, I'm so happy, and a Commando, although a GREAT profession is quite useless in PvP, but in a happy and positive way."

ya, but I contest it's useless in pvp.....then again....I just love to pvp with so called gimp profs and prove everyone wrong

the key is sticking to your role in combat...though commando is very versatile

I think when you can beat so called uber templates like TKM/MSW/M brawler and Melee/doc templates you aren't that bad

commando only need to fear jedi and insane dot people (but don't we all need to fear those )

Never underestimate the damage on a weapon. Especially special heavy weapons. Remember the multipliers and extra hundred points of damage can be multiplied three or four times. Trying to pvp with a special heavy weapon is a hard fight. Though I have found on my krayted damage llc. That the multiply is increadible. Especially if you get the perfect shot off. Buffed or not sometimes you get a sting. Especially on the specials.

I have had that damage save my butt from time to time its like the luckiest role of the die but if you are lucky it can win you a fight. In general I have found the speed is less then a godsend with the bad range mods on the gun. Missing seven shots is hardly worth it. I find my krayt llc to be beloved when i go up against a creatures, but special heavy weapons are no way to pvp. They are far to inaccurate to be valid as a pvp tool.

What you want is some good krayt tissue.

Basic barrel.

Imperial form fitted stock.

A master slice.

Plus preferably a one ham scope for ranged fighting.

EDIT: Ummm no scope on FT's is the norm ... at least it was when i crafted

As a commando/tka 0444 I can hit people wearing composite with a Flame that ticks for 500 damage if I knock them down first. A good shot with my flame thrower will incap a buffed person if they are not wearing composite. I can take out a swoop with a single rocket too.

Commando can be great in PvP, you just have to pick your shots and know your role.

u cant use flame thrower effectivly in pvp. If u hit u will do very low dam since u have no armor piercing. dunno about how much but to compare, a fencer hit me 4 2-10 with a decent acklay stun baton. and i only had melee mit 1.

ehm...you use the FT for the dot.....and 800+ dot does work pretty good in pvp

also.....FT seem to hit armor holes on 4 piece suit wearers...

also....fencer hit you for 4 to 10 damage? seems like a speedsliced standard baton to me lol

yup it comes down to preparation and tactics a lot

eg. one thing most commando's forget is that they get +20 unarmed thoughness from the unarmed IV prereq...

when you're KD, unequip you flamer and voila....you're already reducing the damage you get in with 20%

I'm starting a new pvp toon and finally decided on M commando TK 4400 medic 0030 pistols 0040....it'll rock (you can vary this template depending if you do mainly pve or pvp by taking 0304 TK and pharma IV, or 0314 TK with pharma III).

with my 1176 max I can do a combined dot which easily gets over 800

ehe once you've stuck the dots warcry, unequip FT, run away..then vs non stackers equip a supafast and accurate DH17 and state em with FAS, try to lunge with actionshot or surpressionfire....if you're succesfull run up to 48m and start shooting HPBC (works pretty good

vs. stackers, docs run back to em, warcry again, make sure they're intimidated...if you have time left /aim and set em on fire again

most melee stackers have no doc so die pretty easy....those that have/are doc, or have medic 0030 won't be able to heal enough pretty soon, as the FT dot gives enormous BF
