Thread: All the band wagon commandos are stepping off.
I dont think more people are going to dabble, but the band wagoners arent going anywhere if their already flame 4. If its a CH, obviously this damage mod is no problem for them.
How far are you guys in comando? I had just started and got only flame 1 so far when this patch hit, and Im not here just to dable, I want master comando even though I saw agead of time you dont get crap for it really.
Ive been working on TK while this is going on but Im affraid that they'll never change it and coming from a basically novice comando that just walked into this, do you know how hard it is to keep hope in the profession when you can go into a spell of missing 7 shots in a row? Seriosly Im more deadly with just my pistol at pistol 4 cause at least it hits. Not to mention I ws doing war gronda and humbaba missions befor this but now the war grondas are faster and the humbabas pack.My iend who though that the damage mod was the right thing to do rethought when I took him out and showed him how meatlump clods can woop my arse and how rediculous that Im supposed to be, f not the toughest class, the second toughest class and I have to go out and kill crazed durnis or get killed.
Someone was trying to convince me to go get a probot and a rock beetle, but I refuse! Im a comando, not a squad leader. I am insulted by the need for this adaptation. Yeah, so Im not very far in comando and that makes it harder but dam it Im still a master marksman why am I dying at the hands of things I took out at pistol 3? Guess I'll keep doing my TK and if comandos not fixed by the time Im done, as a casual player, then Ill move into another skill.
I'm trying to keep some hope in me for the whole profession, but somehow I feel they'll never fix it. I guess if they do and theres only like 3 of us in each galaxy then more power to us, but somehow I feel I just bet on a dead horse.
Ok, this is a reply for technohic.
This profession is great, it is fantastic, and I love it.
As it stands now we are gimped, just like every class is, but the last patch has severly changed the style of play for commando's.
As for your accuracy with a flamethrower, it will stink for a long time, but if you have the patience it is worth it to get higher up. And there are many on this board who remember the problems with flamethrower accuracy, but we remember it from a day when an insanely well made flamethrower was still lucky to have a max damage of 250, and you had to beg borrow and grovel just to find a weaponsmith to make one for you. At least now its fixed enough that you can miss 7 shots in a row, and then kill the creature with the eighth.
As for probots and rock beetles, I refuse to get a rock beetle, but I do have a probot, I only use it sparingly, and usually just to guard me in case I get attacked on the way to a mission. They aren't very useful as a combat tank, more useful as a backup.
Basically if you have the patience for it, this profession is worth it, of course thats just my personal opinion, others may disagree. You're accuracy with any heavy weapon will stink for a while, jut think of it as being a novice marksman again, but with bigger guns.
I'm still trying to check the rumour that Master Commando has been beefed up on the Test Center, but right now the TC is loading so I cant check it. But the rumour mill says we're getting some decent modifiers for mastering the profession.
If you have any more questions, many of the Masters here will happily answer them for you.

Im sure there are a lot of things you can kill on the eight shot after missing seven times, and I know it will get better, im just saying having that damage mod, and something like a humbaba, which will survive quite a few shots and didnt use to pack, now packs so as soon as you fire the first shot its budy is on you then it is on you so now suddenly your taking damage equivilant to 5 humbabas from only 2. Maybe I shouldnt be taking out war grondas by running away from them and waiting for enough shots to land to kill one but I dont think things like humbabas or giant carion spat level should be a problem however they can all catch you and it seems that every mission for the larger game you take have pack instinct now,
As for using droids or non-CH pets. I took comando because I want a character thats tough in his own rights, not through pets basically because its easier to travel without coughing out orders to things. If I knew I would need that sort of aid, I would have done become a creature handler a long time ago so I could just let the pets do the work.
I hope what you hear is right about master comando. If you get a good beef up at master, and maybe a damage mod reduction at master level, Ill kill paralopes and durnis if I have to to get there.lol
I cant belive people actually talking about Band Wagon commando's, over 90 percent of you all are "BAND WAGON COMMANDO's. Once the flamer started up you all suddenly appeared like you were hybernating. Commando's were just a handful now every where i look i see a flamer.

Actually, I guess you could call me that, I dont know. See, I wanted a comando at the very beginning but counted up the skill points and there wasnt enough to do that and be a good smith of some sort so I put it asside. But then I got annoyed with how they change resources all the time and my harvesters would quit and also since Im not on a whole lot, I had to go somewhere for a couple days and when I got back I knew my harvesters were going to need maintnance but what I found was they were gone completely, so I said to hell with that and decided I wanted to go for whats supposed to be the ultimate fighter of the game. I had no idea how hard the flame hit when I did it, only comando weapon I had seen was the launch pistol, I was just going off what I saw when you let your mouse cursor float over some of the top comando skills where it tells you to avoid this person on the battle field unless distracted or incapacitated. (kinda seems the opposite now eh?)
I will say I was partying once I got my first flamethrower because it was the first time I saw how much damage it does. Someone saw me with the launh pistol and told me to get a flame and that it was much better. I was very pleased when I did.
Anyway, yes I did jump onto comando a little later in the game but it wasnt because I saw other people doing it. Now I expect to see a lot of people leave comando and go BH but not this boy. I left my artisan stuff and went comando and 1 week after I finally made it, I get this nerf so why try to run to BH just to have it nerfed?
So anyone that is enjoying our demise, laugh while you can, you wont like it when it happens to you and Im sure it will.
actually, i see and know of far more MASTER commandos dropping off than 'bandwagoner' flamer4 commandos.
This 2.5x nerf has wiped out and is still wiping out the master title holders..and they will be gone for good. Say that in 2 months they remove or drastically lower the 2.5x penalty... the flame4 users will be back in less than a week...the once-master title holders? I dont think they will be back. They wont risk going master again only to have SOE screw them over some other way... as they have done twice now.

Well said!

Anyone that uses the term "bandwagon" (yes it is really one word),to describe somone in relation to themselves is a complete *edit*.
All they are really saying is "I was here first so I am cooler then you."
Having played the commando profession longer then somone else, or having played it while it wasFUBAR does not entitle you to anything.
You are not special. I don't care what your mommy told you. ![]()
Focus on the real issues and drop the childish nonsense.

I think your wrong.
If you put it in perspective, any commando who played prior to the patch of september, knows what its like to play a seriously imbalanced and gated profession. Anyone after, just doesnt realize what it was like(just joined because it was thought to be the best working combat profession at the time, hence bandwagoner).
As of the october patch, commando is now seriously imbalanced *AGAIN*. Having a melee modifier for a class that must be within steps of melee range is an extremely low blow delt by the devs, not to mention the lack of conversing to the commando community at all onits behalf.
So now we get old timers, plus the so-called bandwagoners, that are surrendering the profession for different reasons, thus making them distinct entities. Good job devs.
