im so tired of this. people... you dont need them to be next to you to kill them. thats why we have grenades (great at mid ranges and buukuu damage) and launchers (rocket, acid, lighting ect for long ranges) the flamethrower is not your only weapon. i seem to be repeating myself in every post i do. im a master commando and even after the patch can kill damned near anything if i play it smart. dont be a bunch of morons and think you have one weapon. btw as a master commando i can hit someone with flamesingle2 at 19m, before melees can hit you.

Sorry, Bailler, I guess everyone else just doesn't have your skill. But, I am surprised you can still handle anything in the game, especially with armor being borked. I'd be interested to know what your template is, but anyhow, its great that you have such variety to be able to use, I guess for a master commando grenades might hit sometimes, and I suppose that it would be nice to use up 2k per shot weapons on the average mob, if most of us had that kind of money.

And yes, switching to unarmed until your delay is over might be the "smart" thing to do, but it really is out of character for the spirit of the game, which is important to some. Once armor is fixed, that is.

Also... really, this thread has nothing to do with lack of weapons for the commando.... it has to do with the FT being made significantly less useful...... and the FT, no matter what you say, is the commando's staple by necessity, by player choice, and by design.

i cannot wear armor, i am a wookiee. i have never even needed armor or a sheild generator for a fight and that is because i fight smart. i know what my enemies can do. its simple strategy. if someone has the ability to make you dizzy and therefore knock you down, find ways to counteract that. btw just for you curious ones out there my skill tree

master commando

novice rifleman

sqaud leader 0/0/1/0

thats all i need to fight anyone. now i can lose, i know that, but it takes someone also fighting smart. now as for the money problem for not being able to afford all the weps i have, use that little flamethrower of yours and get some as they will make you more badass than anyone else there is. i do know what im talking about as i have tried it first hand and it works.

Well that explains why the armor issue doesn't affect you. Actually, I guess it helps you since everything is broken, unless I'm mistaken, which I could be.

I am curious though... what can be done to counteract the dizzy KD you spoke of, other than... kill it before it kills you. I'm unclear on what could be a counter to that. Really, I'm interested, no sarcasm.

And...... I'm not talking about PvP here at all.

xero im very glad you asked that. notice my squad leader ability? that skill right there cures all stun and dizzy effects of the group and is a great skill. i dont want to sound full of myself (although i know thats how im appearing) but im just tired of people thinking that they have one weapon and one attack and if that doesnt work then they are done

Cool. I thought SLs had no joy. Back to topic, though:

I have no idea why they would apply the 2.5x penalty to the HAR and the FT. Rifles are an aim-and-fire weapon. The Heavy Acid Rifle and Flamethrower are more of a "Point and Spray" weapon. The Flamethrower and Heavy Acid Rifle wouldn't require muc accuracy within 16m. Making the 2.5x penalty effect the heavy weapons doesn't make any sense. Now instead of haing 16m to to get in a good hit, we only have 6 meters. Hopefully, this is a bug and will be fixed. More or less, considering this patch has been one giant screw up, it was the Dev's attempt at hushing the Nerf-screamers.

I'm sorry, I dont really see the problem here. Just like rifleman trade their 2.5x melee damage for being able to do more damage than pistols and carbineers, you now have it. Its the price to pay for being an offesive type class. Its balanced plain and simple. You deal great damage but take great damage, or you deal crappy damage but take damage real well. Then other classes all fit in between. Commando is a heavily offensive class, what did u expect?

For all the people that say rifles (yes, I'm a rifleman and I agree with the 2.5x modifier) are shooting from 64m or whatever, you're right, we are. But you guys are also doing tons more damage than we are also. Its all about checks and balances. You really cant expect to have no real defensive drawbacks weilding insanely powerful weapons can you. Its balance, and its a good thing the devs are starting to get this game balanced. And I think most level headed commando's, not dabblers in it for the uber weaps, would agree with me (lol, after it sets in a couple of days anyway..hehe)

You do know you can unequip the flamethrower while you wait for the special timer to finish. That way you arnt taking the extra damage while you wait to shot again. I have a macro that equips the
FT fires it then unequips it. I havent had to much of an issue.

Ok take away the damage modifier. Add in a percent chance that you blow up when someone shoots you. That would be realistic. (IE flamethrowers would have need of 2 huge tanks strapped to your back). Or are you using a magic bag of holding to store yer liquid fuel in?

oaktree not everyone can afford grenades. not everyone can afford 50k rocket launchers or 30k particles. Most importantly of all, when was the last time you joined a group to hunt non-swarming creatures? (perhaps, because those missions are in starting planets for the novices? hmm?).

facts are facts. Commando problem was the flamethrower DOT. Pure and simple. thats the only **edit** issue we had with our weapons.

Riflemen had that horrendous 2.5x melee penalty. Thus they whined and beatched about flamethrowers hitting them for 12k (just like we whine about AT-ST's hitting us for 1200 a shot, but I guess SOE loves to turn a blind eye to that one).

All they had to do was FIX the riflemen and bring them in line with carabineers (rifle accuracy is horrid below 30m, they cant hit anything anyway) and make the flamethrower DOT scale to the damage done by the initial flamer special.

Yeah realistically flamthrower would be connected to backpack which removes your other backpack for 2 tanks of gas and we would take 2.5x damage from RANGED attacks. Also it would be a charged weapon and spray 50m and incap THEN db you if it sprays you as someone discribed REALLY well, the flames would hit you, you would instantly be incapacitated from breathing FIRE and your lungs would be completely destroyed, your skin would be gone in 2 seconds and your bones would follow in the next 2 seconds and if THAT didn't happen you would spend 3 minutes slowly suffacating cause you HAVE NO LUNGS! The game is not meant to be realistic (take note, the guns in this game can't shoot a laser accross a football field)

If someone attacks you with a rifle equiped in real life chances are you would beat his ass down because HELLOOOOOOO YOU got the club!

And last time I checked, wearing armor never made anything hurt you MORE rather then less, sure wear a bullet proof vest and a knife stab would slice through it like butter, but the knife wouldn't do 50% more damage then it would if nothing was between you and it. I think vulnerabilitys should just coun't as damage that simply doesn't get blocked at all rather then damage that gets increased as it is now.
