Twile, you DO realize how stupid statement is right?
No 'point and click' game proves how good you are. It proves how good your connect and your PC is.
You want 100% proof of this? Go play the ONLY other MMPOG that is point-and-click (also first person perspective): World War 2 Online.
Everyone is equal. Problem? my dual core amd 4400 with 256 mb BFG vid card with 21" monitor and2 gigs of ramwill completely wipe the floor with a full squad of other players playing the same 'character' type i'm playing ... because they only have a 1ghz computer with 1 gig running an outdated video card.
Point and click... I will do it with no frame-per-second lag issues, no network lag issues and of course, with much better resolution graphics (oh yeah boy you will need HIGH RES to hit crap in point and click games).
Why do you think other games that are point and click are not MMPOG? The network lag and FPS makes it a virtual impossibility. The drawbacks are too many, the potential for disaster is huge.
You will see this happen on Friday on the TC.
You can be lev 80 commando facing me and I assure you I will CREAM you just because my machine allows me to... not 'my' skills.

From what I have heard of it, it will be a lot like space, and I haven't many complaints about that.
I hope it isnt like space if they dont take care of the lag, imagine trying to fightin a cityin a20 vs 20 battle

I just have one question though: Will proffessions still be able to mix? Like can I have a commando/smuggler? or are we being idioticized into a single proff with nothing else to mix with?
Nope, and that is the one thing about this new concept that I really am dissapointed with...and where we can't drop a class once we get it =/
At any rate, it'll be interesting to see combat on TC very soon. I've heard that, in order to reduce lag, they'll be upgrading the servers to better handle a FPS/JTL/etc like enviroment...meaning, JTL might improve with the lag in those big battles too.
Of course, we all know what happens when SOE tries to reduce lag on the servers
We'll have to wait and see, but for now keep an open mind towards this. It can't possibly be worse than what happened with the CU (although back then we said, we couldnt go lower...and we did). Commando -has- to be a full fledged profession and actually perform a significant and viable role, so they can't just pull the carpet underneath us and turn us into another "support"-only role under our noses again. Not with these few professions...

Meh. Bring it on, I say. I for one don't mind change.
But that's because I'm an FPS vet running a custom built PC with top of the line hardware.

Oh, the post I read first on this said there would be no changes to our prof, only the combat system. It's cool that we will be able to do all this stuff, but apparently, we wont be updated, switched around, or fixed, only how we be commandos is. That's just something I read.

I think Commando's gonna be Awesome now... I have nothing to support this other than a gut feeling.
My Jedi alt was Rifleman/Doc but now I think I might make him COMMANDO like my Jedi was before.
I dunno, I feel good about this.

I'm really not sure what to say or think...
I definitely understand Tacwraith's POV about the person with the superior machine winning, and yet I kind of like the idea of combat being more like real combat rather than standing in one place and spamming special after special.
Also, food for thought; when has SOE ever managed to do anything right?
