Thread: Official Summit is over and I'm Home Wrap Up Thread

Thats all fine and dandy, Garvin...
But...I think its a mistake for them to not to say "Garvin, this is what you can go back to your forum with: FT and HAR merged, upgraded melee and ranged defenses, with def vs mods...Accuracy and speed increased throughout the board, new weapons (this doesnt have to be specific, just the idea of it), the new tree that we are supposed to be getting...etc etc etc..."
And as far as point number 2 is concerned, dont you think its a little late to be concerned with anything impacting the timing? I mean, how many times has it been pushed aside already?
I would rather know specifically (yes, I snuck around the house for Xmas presents as a kid) what changes they have in mind for us, and if its something they cannot do, then thats fine. I would at least know they had a grand vision of something, but yet it just wasnt feasible from a programming standpoint. I can live with that.
But the constant carrot dangling just rubs me the wrong way...I realize they are hesitant to give a time frame, as many times as they have burned their own ass by doing that...But come on...Sooner or later, they have to get it done, and get it right...
The devs could tell us NOW, and save alot more problems later. They botched it the first (okay...10) time, and it gives me no reason to believe they can get right now (or two, three months from now).
I realize I am the constant pessimist, and I dont want to seem like I am busting your balls...But, this whole cloak and dagger routine, frankly, sucks.
I obviously can't explain things as well as TH and the other Devs can...but trust me...If I tried to detail all of the information we covered, I'm sure I'd probably miss something important...We had docs on many different impacts of the Combat Revamp (like the HAM redesign), not just one overall doc...and each of those docs were 4 or more pages...some even hitting double digits...
What I'm trying to say is there is a TON of stuff to cover...the first part that has to be covered is how Combat will be effected by the Revamp and what that means to all professions overall...Once that part has been fully explained, absorbed and understood, then I see them getting to how the Professions will be changing specifically to go along with the Combat Revamp...
I could post word for word the docs I received...but I probably couldn't come close to explaining them as well as the Devs did to us...There were diagrams and more involved here, followed by hours of Q&A...We spent over 7 hours on Saturday reveiwing the details...And then we spent tons of hours outside the office still asking the Devs more Q&A...
If you want the biggest examples of why they don't want to release any information to prematurely...look want has happened in the past...The Crafting Change...The Droid Commander...The Smuggler Revamp...Creature Handlers...Recursive Macros...Vendor Changes...etc...word gets out and many people jump to conclusions right away before knowing all the details...thats why this time they are going to clear the docs through the Correspondents first (we need more time to review all of them with a fine tooth cone...like I said, there are a lot of docs)...After that they'll start giving you out the refined info as well as getting it on the Sandbox to test...
If you want to blame anyone for the delay in posting the info, blame us Correspondents...we are the ones who want time to absorb all the info and respond back before they post the docs...The plan is for us to really dig into these docs Monday in the Correspondent forums...as soon as we are done, I'm sure the devs will post them...
This revamp has to be approached delicately...I don't want to chance anything that will delay or cancel this revamp...We Commandos have to much riding on this revamp to allow that...and if it means, unfortunately, the public has to waita bit, then I'm sorry...you'll have to wait...but I will promise you this, when you do read them and see what is coming, you will understand why you had to wait and you'll be happy you gave it time to be properly evaluated...You will be a happy Commando....
I will be a happy commando when they pry my flamethrower from my cold dead hands...

How about when they give you some very good reasons to put the Non-Nerf'd FlameThrower down and pick up one of our other weapons (whatever those may be)?
Maybe Starnick is right...I am evil...
Were you able to see any of combat revamp in action? Maybe play test it a little?
I'm not trying to present a "see it to believe it" mentality, I'm just curious.
Whatever those might be....hmmmmm

I may not have been at the Summit... but I too have access to some info
Let the bidding begin!!
Oh and if you can't take just Garvin's word for it, take the word of all the other Correspondents *in the same position he is in for secrecy* and myself *who has the same rules to follow, but not quite as much info, lol* that these changes look amazing.
Details cannot be given, because that may cause fragmented pieces of information on many forums for the Dev's to track and reply to, instead of putting it in one nice big thread and tracking and responding to concerns/issues quickly and easily. The Dev's will be posting this info as soon as all of the Q&A notes are compiled, everything is nice and organized, and can be tracked quickly and easily.
This isn't some "carrot" any longer. These are offical design documents, time and money used by brining the Correspondents down, and a lot of resources poured into this. Let's all look at this for the promising future it brings for SWG... that "Golden Age" I have mentioned so many times is now within sight. I said it would take time... well that time is soon.
1) How many corespondents were there? I know the the Jedi Corespondent could not make it. Therefore, is some of the time needed to bring these people up todate?
2) Which issues are to be covered in pub 10.1?This publish issupposed to be for correspondent issues>

If I recall correctly...34 Correspondents where there...Some of the Correspondents also took on extra duties to make sure that Jedi, Rifleman and TKA were not left out...They did their research on those profession's issues before going to the Summit...No Combat Profession was left out, including Jedi...
2) Which issues are to be covered in pub 10.1?This publish issupposed to be for correspondent issues>
Since the main focus of the Summit was the Combat Revamp, we pretty much stuck to that...I don't recall hearing an specifics about 10.1...I do know many of the Correspondents did reconfirm certain old bugs and some new ones as well (me included)...For now, I know my main focus is going to be getting as much response to the devs regarding the CR docs so we can get them to post them live in the In Concept forum ASAP...after that maybe I'll try and see what I can find out on 10.1...
