I'm a novice commando and we are not PvP gods because our weapons may be strong but the attack speed is super slow the best I have seen is 5.2 ; also when people are wearing composite armor it has good resistance to heat. So these are 2 reasons on why we are not PvP gods. So dont be saying OMG commandos are really powerful. Some professions depending on the weapon we can be beaten with a pistol.

That isn't enough of a sample size (or set of sample sizes) to form any conclusive sort of pattern. though.

I dont know whats up with you other commandoes because i am a friggin great ass pvp'er, the trick is to not only master commando but include other pieaces of other profs, if ya only master commando you will be constantly owned. and i mean constantly, so i have a whole crap load of other profs mixed in with my master commando, and make sure ya have UBER armor and food and yer fine. Actually today at bestine i took out 6 imps tryin to attackin me all at once, i am NOT a tk, i did have 1 tkm attack me he tried to go for dizzy pinn it worked for a while till ig ot up and killed him, the only profs as of now that can beat me are fencer and master rifleman, with anything else i can pretty much destroy ya, funny part is i have only mastered 2 things marksmen and commando, i have taken pieaces of other profs and used it on my char, that is what makes commandoes uber

Well Kenic if ur so sure you've got it all figured out, clue us in man! I've thought about what skills would go together well with commando but have only come up with CH or TK (Would have been ranger if we had enuff skill points left over)

here is how ya do it bro i dont wanna say my template out loud...lol, but try this i am commando and some tk and some rifleman and some *cough* other stuff *cough*..hmmm put it this way if ya get close to me ya burned if ya run away from me i drain yer mind and you die..thats basically it, i am pretty sure ya can figure it out

i'm quit intreiged with this post, and being that this is my first response ever i'll try not to sound too ignorant .


i'm currently only about halfway into commando (3241) and i find it that most pvp i get into arn't all that much of a problem either i win or i lose simple as that, but i gotta say that i love the dam put out by my flame thrower. one of the first things i did when starting this proffesion was get some krayt tissue and then get a freind to make mne an uber thrower, goot lucky with a speed slice and it's currently at a speed of 2.7, dam 546-1084 and the accuarcy aint half bad either + 16 pointblank mid range is not even worth mentioning and the long range of +20 so i can deal some nice dam from either close up or at a distance and im still usually pretty accurate. only problem i ever have is when they are at mid rang, then i'm in for a beating.


As a commando i might not be the best for pvp but i tell u what anyone wanting a fight with me will be spending some time in the med clinic, win or lose.

I agree i mastered commando thinking that i was going to be hard as nails but i found i was not, i have been killed more times that i can count and i dont recall killing anyone as a commando solo. This is a joke combat profession that people laugh at, it doesnt reflect the amount of skill points u have to go through to get it. By the way your dead before u can get close enough to use flamesingle 2 so whoever said that its a one shot kill is wrong especially when u miss and yes ive used overshot 2 at a ranged distance still no joy hardly makes a dent when rifleman are spamming headshot 3 at 64m!! their the pvp gods <----- this is wrong!!!!

i thought exacly the same thing, i can fight in pvp well if the player im fighting isnt buffed, one good hit and i win. But if the player is buffed with 80%Heat adv. Comp armour on what i have to flame hope i hit, then run (depending on what prof) and hope the flame DOT kills them im doing tkm now, i figure ill knock down them flame ive seen other commandos with the same template and it works well (as long as you hit). i get killed more than i kill thats for sure, and because we hit so slow most players can afford to heal.

I have to agree..


I went into commando thinking I would be a strong guy. I thought I would be the upfront guy, who goes in and destroys everything.


What a dissappointment that was... I am now Master Commando, and I have to say, it sucks.


Even more, a deal of strong creatures have 100% heat resistance, Commando shouldn't be nerfed. Most other things can beat a commando now, yet a commando was MADE to tear up a battlefield. In quote from Prima's official guide to Starwars galaxies, the commando description (page 306. Line 11, second paragraph) It says in quote "the commando can control entire areas of a battlefield alone." Now, that is a false statement....


Now with this new nerf, you can only use a FlameSingle once, and if you do it more, the damage doesnt stick. This I find really stupid


Anyone who wants to try and make an attempt at saving commando, send a feedback.



Also, something a bit funny I saw.

A bit back on the posts, someone said that the description was that Commandos were made to destroy strong and heavily armored creatures I believe. Yet flamethrowers and Acid rifles have no armor piercing that should be changed.


And also, in Prima's official Starwars Galaxies guide, it says in the commando description (pg.306, line 12 of the 2nd paragraph) it says in quote "In the wild, the commando is an excellent shot-being a master marksman-and a vicious hand-to-hand combatant- being a master brawler as well". Yet, commando's miss a lot more then anything else I have noticed...



I know many of you wont agree with me, maybe by a miracle some will. But this is my belief...

Commandos were made to be how they were. Anti Enemy guys. Period. You should not weaken them to the point that they cant even do their job.
