He checked the Weapon Certifications that have been in the patch message for the last what 2 weeks? He didn't say jack about the recourses. His not even knowing and the person he obviously asked not knowing that the certifications were already fixed on TC and in the patch notes just shows how clueless he is.
Yeah,I amsorry to see you go Gar. It is sad when someone get so emotionally involved with something that has no bearing on anything.
I am sick and tired of all you whiners and complainers. Everyone seems to complain about their professions or what is going to happen to their profession regardless of what their profession is. The game is new give it a chance sure it is buggy but it is still is the development life cycle, it will always be at least until SWG 2 comes out.
Sure it has its problems it is buggy, but look at fricken Windows. In fact I am convinced that windows is why my SWG is so laggy. And they have been developing that stupid crap for like 25 years nowand it still crashes as much as SWG. And that is just an operating system, hell I wrote a more stable operating system in a semesterat school.
So give the developers some fricken credit for putting out a great mmorpg that represents the star wars galaxy fairly accurately, and give them some credit for addressing the issues that they have in a timely matter, and give them some time to address the issues that they have not gotten a chance to yet.
Developing is not going in and changing a line of code, it is analyzing what that change would do, designing methods for changing them, making an attempt at the change, and then testing to see if it works and what else you just messed up. Then you pretty much have to start from the beggining until it is actually stable. You can't fix that over night. Even the baz natch (or whatever it was fix) was not fixed until 5 or so days after it was pointed out.
Oh and yeah for the developers, if you are so busy and do not have enough time to correspond and fix the stuff that needs fixing. Then why the hell do you not hire some more developers to help lighten the load. If you want I could send my resume in.
I need to qualify my post to Xahn a little bit. You guys have provided some feedback to the Commando Correspondent. Its my Squad Leader profession that is being totally ignored...
I need to talk to Void Vem and see if I can get him to resign... ![]()
Holocron,
Sorry, but everything you just stated just confirms all my fears, thatyou have totally unaware of the major issues for the past 4 months.
The weapon cert was a known issue 4 weeks ago.. and reported an acknowledged 3 weeks ago.
And now you say,, it should be fixed soon, maybe next week? meaning not this patch tomorrow?
Its obivous that no one has been paying any real attention to the last week's of letters. You want us to test on the TC before releasing to the live servers, but its a catch 22.. 1st it takes weeks to make normal progression to novice commando, unless you do not work, 2nd there needs to be a master weaponsmith to make these weapons so they can be tested, and 3rd there needs to be the right resources to have the weapons crafted. All 3 could take the TC weeks, if not longer since you are also totally unaware of the resource shifts, or just now figuring out that there is a problem.
This is why I left SWG, not just the correspondent post. The devs that speak to us, seem to be totally lost when it comes to our concerns and obviuos problems. Everytime I read a Dev's post on commandos , it seems soo uninformed. Yet I can read 100s of post over the last 4 months, by players that nail every issue dead on the head. Really my job as commando cor. was very easy, all I had to do was read the 1000's of post on all the issues, and boil them down to short paragraphs.
Anyways, I'm not mad at holcron, or Q, and I hope they eventually figure it out.
Good luck guys
Well, at least we'll be seeing changes sometime soon. At least, this is what I'm waiting for. I'm holding off my judgements until I see if and when things change that:
A) They're for the better.
B) We are actually viable, and worthwhile playing.
C) We are fun.
Cause currently, we're not much for anything. Grouping? Can't do that, people yell about the LP's huge effects smoke. So effectively, I'm a Master Marksman. That's about it thus far.
Hopefully, soon-- we'll be able to do something worthwhile.
And, I still think the flamethrower or the acid rifle line should be tossed and a light-repeating blaster should take it's place.
It fits more with Star Wars then the current weapons.
What do you think?

Holocron - These things should have been fixed before you sold it to us. Major issues that we have are not excusible.
He didn't sell it to us, the suits at SOE/LucasArts sold it to us. Please stop blaming the devs. They can only do so much before the suits tell them to release the product. You were not forced to buy the game right after it was released but you did. Blame yourselves I say.
Personally, I am loving the game. Although I have submitted a ticket about losing 20k in furniture and plants for my new house that just poofed out of my inventory after taking a shuttle.
You sir are the idiot, He has a job to do to. If they tell him to go to these place to sell their product then that is what he has to do. Are you his boss? NO so shut up. If you don't personally know what his job is over there then you have no business coming into this forum and blasting him for doing his job of which you have no idea what that is.

Doesn't anyone find it a little bit of a slap in the face that he's been too busy travelling, marketing, and giving meetings to understand what's going on? I don't know how everyone else feels, but the ONLY acceptable answer to me is "I've been too busy fixing OTHER bugs, helping the testing/dev process". Not "I was trying to sell this buggy game to OTHER people, so I've been too busy". For Force's sake, at least LIE to us about how much you guys are doing to fix things!
Holo, you mentioned earlier in this thread that it takes a month from a problem being identified to the time that it's repaired. I have to ask, why was the game released with entire professions that are just plain non-functional and others that are somewhat functional at best? Were these things missed in beta? Can you honestly say that the developers didn't have an inkling that Commando weapons had about as muchpunch as a CDEF (on the odd chance that the materials turned up to actually build them)? Can you look your paying customers in the eye and tell them that the Merchant and Bio-Engineer classes work well enough?
Actually, I do have a right. I pay his salary. And so do you. And so do all of us here. I don't give an s*** what his job description is, the only thing I want to hear, and what most people here want to hear, is that everyoneat SOEis fixing bugs, not posing for the camera or jetsetting.
Now, maybe you are content with paying to play with beta software. I'm not. I work in Quality Assurance 50 hours a week. I really don't relish the idea of coming home to do the same thing.I'm also not content with the idea that my money is going to a marketing budget to further market beta software, rather than fixing severe bugs. So, after having said that, can you tell me exactly what makes me an idiot? Where exactly am I, Joe Customer, in the wrong for wanting a product that works as it's supposed to and for *gasp* expecting that the people who make that product are working to FIX IT, rather than trying to sell it more.
I don't care if SOE made them release it now, the fact is that Holo is the ONLY presence I've seen on the forums in the past 2.5 weeks of heavy reading (not counting Q's next to useless recent Tuesday Tips, but that's another story). After finally seeing a dev post, his comments basically boil down to "sorry, didn't know what was going on, was busy doing marketing, meetings, etc. But, we'll get to your issues as soon as we can, after we get to other issues." That...is...UNACCEPTABLE. Period. And if you think that's acceptable, then I have a bridge to sell you. Just give me the money now, and you can have a picture of it, and I promise I'll get to making the bridge after I go sell it to some more people.
I have two more things to say. One is that obviously you didn't read my short post. I never called Holo (or anyone) an idiot, nor would I. I'm 30 years old and I know better than to think that calling people names gets you anywhere. Please before you call someone an idiot or any derogatory name for that matter, take a little time to think it through.
Second, that is NOT what he has to do. He has a job, and he can choose to do it, and be dishonest in doing it, or not do it. There's plenty of precedents in history where people have NOT done their jobs and ended up being better people because of it (whistle blowers in various industries, cigarettes, Enron, etc. come to mind). That being his job is simply not a valid excuse.
Uggh, read every post in this thread and it almost made me want to do some actual work. From what I understand all the Commando's really want is the ability to GAMBLE!!! That's right, GAMBLE!!! I recommend that instead of fixing any bugs, or any class imbalances/don'tfreakingworks the developers need to put some roulette wheels and maybe a slot machine or 2 into cantinas and hotels.
Well crap on a crutch, it looks like the Dev's might be doing just that! And you guys were claiming they didn't listen to your concerns...
Well, for the next patch I hope we can get the ability to makeeven more different kinds offireworks. I don't know about everybody else but I sure can't get enough of those fireworks.
Seriously though, if you don't like the game quit. If you do like the game play it for FUN. Ya I know that's a dirty word in the power gamer community but I'm going to say it anyways. FUN. I believe this game has a ton of potential but it's going to take a lot of time to get there. Sure, the game probably shouldn't have been released yet but the all-mighty dollar has too much influence especially when it comes to a cash cow like Star Wars. All I hope for is that some of the SOE execs decide to hold off on buying that 5th or 6th gold plated ferrari and re-invest that cash back into the development of the game. Hire more programmers, upgrade servers and make this game the best **edit** MMORPG it can be!! Cuz if ya do, ya know I'll stick around (at least till WOW comes out and makes SWG look like a pile of bantha feces).
>>Further delays would have cut into the fan base and lost customers and that decision was made by the suits not the devs.<<
The real question is which is going to cost more customers. A winter release or a marginally functional game? My own guess is that there would be a lot more customerspaying to playthis game come Christmas 2005 had they waited until Christmas 2004 to release it. A few more months and an open beta for stress testing could have prevented or corrected most of the problemsthat have tormented us thelast couple of months.

THe simple fact is, with EQ2 going live in November, it would have been financial suicide to launch the game in December. The SW crowd is only part of the clientele they need, they also need the MMORPG crowd, and if they waited most of them would have been in EQ2 for it'sopening month. They HAD to do it now, or wait till March. The question now is whether everyone will leave in November or if they will have the game in good enough shape to keep people on.
