Thread: Helios: Please Address a Commando Concern over the new Weapon Availability Change
That can't be right, can it? It even has the sounds.
Not only is it thought a possiblity, its quoted by many as the reason the combat experience is so bad.

So... I have to ask - is this really something that'sbeing seriouslyconsidered as a possibility by someoneor are you guys just joking around?

u cant just copy and paste systems and then just slap stuff together...so i think thats a joke...what isnt a joke is that cu system is 90% identical to EQ2's and WoW as far as combat is concerned(cant say its bad/good since its not finished)
also..can u please explain the train of thought for enforced grouping(which i get) but then reducing group size numbers? thats the 1 thing bugging me.

For some reason people think that because you guys are turning the combat into a system similar to that in EQ2, you are simply just cutting and pasting the code, which is obviously not the case!

I put the "If" in there because I cannot personally relate, having never played EQ2 or WoW. But, that said, I will confirm for you that there are a LOT of people who feel so.
Just to make my case clear, let me say that I am fine with everything so far, except the icons. I like the "sophisticated" feel, the simplicity of the old icons. When I read that colored icons were being added, I assumed it was the current ones with gradient backgrounds, colored lines, etc. I must say that even after using them for several days, I am just not fond of them.
I think the solution is pretty easy.... just append the new icons to the end of the ones we have been using for so long. Add them to the list. Those who want to use them can, those who dont, will not.

There are many elements from other MMOs that are being introduced into SWG. Many of us feel these are inappropriate for SWG. I think people are implying that you ran out of time, for whatever reason, and just copied EQ2 code, or at least design rather than improving and refining the current combat system.

Thanks for the note. The fix should be out with the next patch.

Although it is obviously not a cut and paste type of deal, Helios; you cannot deny the major similarities.
Also, I think minimizing groups to 8 is a mistake on many levels. Be it guild hunting, space grouping (no, not MP ships), or entertainer groups it is a mistake.
Now a full band can only be 8 people? With no dancers in the group?
I can only group with 7 of my guildmates?
Major space missions or just grouping for fun maxes at 8 as well?
Corvette??? Space and ground game? 8 people? That's just scary.

I agree about grouping. That is what made SWG so different than many MMOs and gave it the multiplayer advantage. They allowed 20 people in a group. It was nice, unique, and had an army feel when you did raids.
Now, that would be a big incentive to be an SL as well really give an army-feeling...
