Thread: Um, Hey guys, I got a 2nd response to my response to their Week 1 Response...
No your forgetting that they 'fixed' the more important things like how many melons you start with. Starting with that many melons was silly! It just had to be reduced before fixing the broken class. /sarcasm off

What a load of **edit** if Dev can suddinly jump on and Fix the Baz Nitches Missions why the **edit** can't they Fix some of the Commando stuff. That kind of **edit** really pisses me off. DEV needs to fix the important stuff not some lame ass Exploits..
I have to completly agree with Zel on this. All this crap about giving the devs time to fix us is starting to look more and more like crap. They have been working on this game for 3 years, had over 6 months of beta, 2 push backs on release dates, and we are now 2 months into the game being live and the commando profession isnt even beta test ready yet. However they cam jump on and make the changes to nerf the jax and the nitch missions in a day or two.
The game devs are really starting to look like they are blowing us off and really dont care anout anything then their own pocketbook.

All these guys talking about using Pistoleer, Carbineer, Rifleman as a basis for specials using HW's. That is not what I spent my time wanting to accomplish. The usage of Pistol specials for LP is and should be a TEMPORARY fix. They intend for us to use the LP as a main weapon? when even a well crafted FWG5 can outdamage it? thats not what I mastered Marksman for. Sure, im all for LOTS of damage and long delay. That should be the Commandos defining feature. Firing a Heavy particle cannon at a AT-AT for 1500+ damage, laying mines to decimate foot troops too foolish to spread out or to Blast the foot off a AT-ST, Setting a Laser Turret on fire with my Flamethrower. DEFINING features, not glorified Pistoleers etc. Commandos are and should be the battlefield equalizers regarding AT-AT/ST's since rebels get no such vehicles, Commandos are what the CH'ers would look for since their precious rancors will be the target of our rocket launchers. I for one dont want to see ( You use Headshot2 on so-and-so's rancor for XXX points of damage ) using a HAC. Forcing us to be gimped just because we didnt take levels in a class that has should have nothing to do with commando, is for lack of a better word, **edit**. Giving us no option but to take pistoleer, if we wish to be "effective" is even more so. Commandos should be its OWN class, not a psudonym for a pistoleer, or carbineer, or rifleman using a different gun. Sure everyone is seeing the relative sucess that the other ranged classes are having. Should we be content to be "allowed" to FOLLOW in their footsteps? No. If they cannot differentiate between Commando and Pistoleer, then they shouldnt have created the class in the first place.
My 2 cents, now back to grinding out xp with my broken HAC..
I just went back and read this post. I have to say that this is probably one of the best posts I have seen about commandos current state and the proposed fixes.
Problem lies in this.
There is no way to separate an AT-ST from a normal mob or a player. 1500 pt sounds like alot, but really, a FWG5 with bodyshot 3 can almost do that.
So to make heavy weapons "heavy" would require that they do 3000 to 5000 pts of damage, cause really, whats 1500 pts to an AT-ST with 15K HAM and can kill you in one shot from range? But then, if they did that, and we went out solo hunting Kimos on Lok, then everyone would be up in arms, to nerf us...
So the answer is, I don't know. I don't know how you get SOE to add in a feature that only targets big pets and not normal mobs, and still allow us to level at a decent clip. After all, killing pets in pvp = 0 exp.
We go around blowing up peoples pets and future vehicles, will keep us all at novice level. Best we can hope for, is a level playing field, where we're no better and no worse than any other elite or hybrid profession, cause it'll just be a nerf cycle like every other mmorpg.
I too do not understand the time its taking to push these things forward.

Besides we don't know the Armor piercing rating of weapons, having AR3 & 4 weapons against only AC3 & 4 and having reduced damage against AC0, 1, &, 2 changes that. That makes the true 'Heavy weapons' just for taking down hardened targets. Which is also 'special use'.
And it can be done the way the current system is. Just invert it. It starts at AC4 instead of AC0 and works in reverse.

They don't have a clue and probably work in a massive commitee. The same reason the game was pushed back 2 years. The same reason they were doing server stability more than bug fixing during beta. The same reason they're still doing 'extremly obvious' bug fixing now.

Well to be honest, SOE should have had this figured out a long time ago. If they were thinking that players would be happy to work up a profession that isnt even a viable working profession till the vehicles are introduced in 6 or more months, then they are sadly mistaken. They deem the most important issues need to be addressed first, yet they obviously dont consider a totally broken profession like commando to be a first priority. This is just disgraceful.
If there is no way to separate an AT-ST from a normal mob or a player, why did they even release the game. This is a major issue within the game mechanics. They are going to be reducing pvp damage by 75% soon. Now how is that gonna work with CH pets? I mean the rancors and gurrecks are still gonna have over 10k HAM and now instead of doing my top dmg i do with my pistol (which SOE forced me to work up in pistoleer in teh first place) of 1600 dmg, ill instead do 400 dmg to arancor pet in pvp....and that will be my best damage. However that same rancor pet will still do 500+ dmg to me each hit. Now unless they put in something that distinguishes between a wild rancor mob, and a tamed rancor pet this is going to make pvp all about the pets again. Then again if they can put in something that distinguishes between a mob and a pet, then why cant they put in something thatseperates anAT-ST from a normal mob or a player?
The excuse of the devs not being able to put in code to seperate AT-ST from a normal mob or a player is just a cop out on their part. Lets try to concentrate on what we can and cant do now, and not make plans for something that may not be in the game for another 6 months to a year.
Last night I was in Bestine pvping with some otehrs rebels. One rebel BH that wasnt in our group was bragging how he can kill other rebels and the rebel scum needs to get the hell out of town. Nobody paid any attention to him. We ran up to a covert imperial that was about to decelare, the rebel BH out of our group healed the imp, then attacked me. With one shot he incapped me with Torso Shot then he ran off. When I got back up I saw him and shot him and I did over 1400 dmg to him in one hit. That incapped him, and I ran over and deathblowed him. Then he precedeed to send me tells saying no hard feelings and bragging about how the fire dmg is gonna set in and do massive wounds to me. Sure enough 5 minutes later the fire dmg is still on me and THEN starts to do massive dmg, about 400 dmg each tick and eventually wounded me 800 health points. There is so many things wrong with that one pvp experience it would make any normal gamer just laugh, realize SWG is a complete joke of a pvp game, cancel their account and play a serious pvp game. However I guess im to thick headed to realize that ![]()
First of all the fact that a rebel can attack another rebel like that is just foolish. This create a whole realm of problems in itself. Secondly, the fact that either of us can take out the other one in just one shot is beyond lame. And third, the fact that BH get a cheap FIRE dmg shot that lingers around for 5 minutes doing nothing but then after 5 minutes kicks in and does 400 dmg and eventually wounds someone for over 800 health dmg in a matter of seconds is completly retarded for both the BH AND his target, let alone say how unfair this massive dmg fire attack is compared to a Commando. Btw this whole concept of the heavy weps styles are suppose to be so massive in dmg that they need a 12k action delay after each style is horsecrap. The BH can use their Torso Shot (the fire damage massive wound style) and can immediatly keep attacking right after using it.
Can someone please tell me why they even bothered putting in a commando profession. Whatever a commando can do, other professions can do 100x better and not get the same drawbacks. And they are suggesting that we are to only recieve the styles and defensive skills from other professions if we truely want to be able to compete. Whats the point in becoming a Commando, seems to me unless they truely rework and fix our profession that we would be better off being a single wep spec character.
Good job Garibaldi... At least they know what is needed now... This is certainly encouraging, so I guess I'll wait until they fix it... I'm still gaining only pistol xp when using my launcher pistols... Thanx for theupdates...
All I want to know is WHEN please.
Seems like they have a lot of the issues worked out on test, stick 'em in game and let us play with them. All this patching going on... lay 'em on us.

The patching that happens on a daily basis is generally only for critical exploits, major bugs, stuff that causes tons of CS calls, stuff that hurts players badly. We don't tend to hotfix other things. Hotfixes are risky, you see, because they get comparatively little testing (because of the urgency of the issue).
Something like the stuff described in this thread we want to test much more thoroughly. The big update that is posted on the In Testing page has been in testing for two weeks at this point. It should be going to players this week.

Holocron,
While we understand what you are saying and while we are also excited about the upcoming patch, some of us have been commandos for close to a month now with ZERO heavy weapon xp and can not even level in our chosen profession due to lack of resources to make commando weapons on various servers, cert problems with hvy weapons, 0.0 ideal range, etc. What I am trying to say is that some of us see the fact that we cant even use (or advance) in our profession as something that "hurts players badly".
Now dont get me wrong, I know things like houses disappearing, major exploits, lag, and items disappearing (and stuff like that) are things you should be working on. But at the same time we feel our profession is crippled on alot of servers. I will add that within the past few days resources to make flamethrowers and stuff started showing up on my server for the first time so things are hopefully on the up swing for us commandos.
I am not a Commando, but have been reading their issues because its pretty interesting to watch.
You really should just do a hotfix and throw them a bone. I know some things may be difficult to code and patch, like graphics, sound and complicated effects.
But somethings like changing the "type" of EXP given by a weapon is not one of them. Your code probably boils down to a table of EXP types andmaybe a number designation on each weapon as to which type it gives, or something equally simplistic as this makes good database design and programming design.
The fact that you havent attempted to "throw them a bone" to satisfy them that you at least are paying attention is your biggest mistake. You are hurting an entire community of fans and customers by not giving them a little something.
