#1, we haven't seen yet...I am hoping such a system has been given consideration, but we have yet to see it.

#2, according to a tester he wasn't able to. Unfortunately I didn't get as much testing on the specials before they were yanked from TC2. In the next patch or so we might be seeing them return (I really hope so, because they're technically in...but not working now) with better damage as well as maybe usability with other weapons.

In regards to our specials, I really do hope overkill becomes a replacement for our consumables...sorta like a sniper shot, and something REALLY deadly to boot.

Dead Bang and Focus Fire both didn't seem to be any different, which further led me to think not everything is 100% working in regards to our specials...but it is exciting that we EVEN have them now!

In regards to Demolitions shot, it should work vs lairs and turrets and vehicles/droids better than any other special. I've heard that new bases with destroyable structures were added on TC2...but can't confirm anything, or how well this special worked since it seemed to be bugged vs lairs, and I havent been able to test vs vehicles/turrets.




Nick, I get the feeling that your issue 3 will not be considered an 'issue' by the devs. The Commando role seems to be a heavy/AOE weapon specialist, and any 'normal' weapons to flesh it out as it were, would kind of unbalance that role.


Getting 'normal' damage weapons isn't a problem anyway, what with the prereqs for commando, plus whatever other profession commando's take to get full template.


If it were me, I'd just knock issue 3 of as well simply because it doesn't make sense for the role, but then I'm just trying to help you get rid of all your issues!

I think i saw something reaguarding this somewhere on the first or second page, but i couldn't relocate it, so i'll ask: Regaurding a melee commando, will cob or any attacks be useable with heavy weapons?

As of right now, no. You need to unequip weapon, use CoB, then re-equip weapon. There are some helpful macros around that will help with it floating on these forums soemwhere.

We can only hope that the specials will work yes. And some Commandos out there i bet u too are waiting a long long time already...


Thats where the frustration come from. People are often promised needed fixes are coming and then it was only a carot to buy a new expansion or keep continuing subscription paying but most times nothing has really changed then.


But with all the upgrades of gimped profs such as SL and Ranger and not to forget the more than outstanding weak BH's they were before the CU and some post CU improvements BH is now the most powerful dabble template for Ranged Proffessions.


I only hope Commando will not left out after 2 minor fixes and gets all he need and yes well 3 weeks are some time to get things right. Helios asked us for 3 things 1 designer can manage to do... now im only afraid the designer is not payed for the last thing due too few people were preordering the expansion so he stopped at Fix 2.


But since the Nr.3 issue (for me the absolute Nr.1 issue) our damage dealing ability to single targets due damage multiplier with specials or whatever is still outstanding do u really think they will tweak it to make it worth something f.e. our incredible sac costs or low speed?


Im sure u would have some more influence to em since u managed to bring alot of good ideas to Helios which are notonly considered but particially done.


Only problem here is i cant understand why u are now not fully optimistical that the specials will work in 3 weeks. Makes me think u know something we dont ...maybe it is also a decision to let commando be crap even after all the good start. But then why so??


Or is it so cause they have a major problem atm about damage multiplier on TC so they cant put all attention to the commando issues.

I only know there are not so many bugs normally are when new expansions are going on so i guess if the devs want our specials to work they will make them to work. If not welcome again to the most gimped an weak Damage dealer proffession in swg.

The point of my explanation , we're on the same page but at two different view points...

Anyways, here's a reason for optimisim:

1) Helios said he wanted to take some time and improve grenades

2) The specials came from left field - the *only* fixes I knew about prior was a total of 3: AoE (at last), and 2 minor grenade fixes. Something that wasn't even suppoused to be on radar from my knowledge, suddenly smacked us in the forehead - anything can happen at this point.

Now, also remember this *is* a beta and we're a good 3 weeks away from ToW's release (2 if you pre-ordered). But are the commando changes slated for ToW release? They're independent...these commando fixes will most likely be in Publish 24. We got a lot of time left on our hands.

Plus, given Helios' last update was he'll be working on the specials w/ our feedback...and nothing changed to them, is a bit of a flag that this is not the the last of what's to come. Believe it or believe it not if you will, but I don't think Helios would leave us out to dry in regards to this.

sometimes you cann't have the whole pot.



the fact we're in testing, makes me feel great, that we're being taken in for atleast consideration that we need fixing. if we're not at "100%" when the patch goes live, o well. we are now closer to being a more useable proffession than a add on template, as before. Having specials atleastgives thesoloing requirements than having to have another ranged proffession, and if there not the best, well we'll do what we do best drive someone insane till they do something.

Yeah not only does it look like you are shooting a supersoaker, it does about that much damage too. Man I couldn't believe how little damage my 1200 max damage lava thrower was doing. My probot does more damage.
