Thread: Grave Injustice done to Commandos

Anyone taken their Commando to any caves lately? Don't even bother. I decided to goto the Genosian Lab lastnite with a few of my guildmates. And I got chewed up spit out. Ok, I figured a dungeon, close quarter combat, Commando heaven. Wrong, more like Commando HELL. Everything in that place has Armor, we have no AP. Damage reduced right there. Then add the resistances, more damage reduction. So, I figured Heavy Particle Beams, they have Heavy AP, wrong! No Support weapons or grenades indoors. So the only thing I could do was give the MOBs a warm feeling in their tummy, so I have a warm place to die.

So, anyone know what the Devs had planned for this? I hate to mention the Rifleman and the T-21 but, will have to. My guildmate who is a Master Rifleman was owning the place. This confuses me. Dungeon, Rifleman, close range, owning the place. Oh yeah, the T-21 has Heavy AP, Rifleman have Area of Effect attacks. So, we Master Marksman pick up useless Unarmed skills, we get an over-sized cigarette lighter, a broken water pistol(HAR), and some firecrackers. A Rifleman goes up 4 boxes, gets his T-21 and the world is his. Well, I hate to say it, but I am using my left over skill points and taking half of the Rifleman profession, so I can get the only true Heavy Support weapon in the game.

Aye, i noticed this as well. Noticing more and more creatures as I wander the galaxy with high heat resists. This of course won't be a problem when/if the fix the heavy acid rifle

The only fix I see is if they give us a weapon comparable to the T-21. Still boggles my mind. How a weapon that powerful can goto someone so untrained in weapons. 35 skills points for Novice Rifleman and 106 skill points for Novice Commando. We need 3 times the XP and have no weapon comparable. I think I have T-21 envy.

Not to be the bringer of more bad news but there is also a weapon schematic (or maybe a drop i am not sure) in the cave for rifleman. I cant remember the name but there was a post about it earlier in the week. It is an acid rifle with AP2. Forget the T21 because this is a direct slap in the face to commandos. Our own Heavy Acid Rifle has AP0 and they make a new gun for the rifleman and give it AP2. Nice one.

Im not saying that they should not be powerful and completely agree that it would be no fun to see the same classes running around. I just think it is amazing that in their patch notes they didnt give our acid gun any AP while they had the time to give a completely new gun to another proffession that has the same damage type as our HAR with AP2. I guess I am the only one who thinks this way.

True. Very true. I don't know why our HAR doesn't have some form of ap. I guees I'm just so shocked that the devs would even bother fixing the HAR at all. LOL. I guess at this point I'm just willing to take what we can get....

I can actually kill a few untrained wielders of the darkside as 1/0/3/0 commando out in the crystal caves.... as long as they dont use fpers, i can even do it wihtout a buff- but dont get me wrong im still depressed about commandos my burns wear out after about 5 ticks, which doesnt help the situation either, and armor holes, and LP absolutley blows against em too..heh

dont forget though that rifleman is one of the hardest proffessions to master, especially for the poor (cant afford food spice and drinks) It takes much longer to master that proff then any others i have come across and any rifleman who is not master is almost useless in a group hunting in a dungeon, just because the masters are uber doesnt mean the rest are, masters had to suffer for a long and hard time to become what they are. BTW even as masters the ham output on their weapons is a killer shooting once every 1.5 sec with a gun that burns 150+ mind per adv strafeshot is deadly and dont you forget it

not true at all. i went hunting with a riflemen guildmate, he was something like 1/2/0/1 i think. i was 0/0/4/0 commando at the time. he stole all my xp. doing 2k + pershot, every 2 seconds, roughly, with his t-21. dont even tell me that only masters are any good.

It's not hard to master rifleman at all. Get conceal 1 and you can solo huurton huntresses and voritors with very little problem, that's all I did until I got sniping 3, then I started with just spamming headshot2. About 5-6 hours of missions and I have the rest of sniping 4 and almost all conceal tree, plus getting up rifle abilities. Few more hours after that I have the countersniping tree and the rest of rifle abilites. Hard work? No. Just gets boring after a while soloing all that stuff.

All I can say after having done this is I want to be Master Commando again

ok guys first of all the only reason you couldnt over power the rifleman was because of the nerf, grats your officially part of the weakest combat proff ever. Second conceal shot EATS HAM badly, if you miss your aggroed bam no tank you better have a swoop out or another weapon because without it your dead. Dont argue with me unless you tried to master it. If you think killin huurtons is a fast way to get xp ocmpared to the rest of the classes especially with conceal shot your nuts. Its only a matter of time before you hafta depend on your food spice and drinks. especially if your grinding

Conceal shot is useful i wont argue with that but it has a high right of missing and it is the ONLY special you can rely on, it hits random HAM and it take a LONG TIME refire. Trust me the only useful rifleman is the master. Unless you want a person in your group hitting for mind though i suppose.

Besides to even use conceal shot, before i dropped that is, you had to go in cover (which eats a nice amount of action) you cant move in it either, before every shot you must aim because until you actually master rifleman your aim bascially blows even if you go up the sniper tree first

I personally like the way this cave is...it's challenging...AND it adds more fuel to our arguement that we need our other weapons working properly...NO MORE can people say "stop whining...you've got a super uber weapon" now that we can show a clear cut place where the FT is useless...

I also like the idea of specific caves where one or two classes/profession would have the advantage over others...as long as every combat profession had a nice cave where they were the dominiate class/profession (or a specific type of damage as dominate...blast, kinetic, heat, or cold, etc)...The sad thing is, if you've visited any of the big caves lately, you'll see the higher NPC's have very high heat resists...Only the low level caves seem to have low heat resists...it would be nice to have a high level cave were we are dominate (or to be more exact, our damage type is)...

But who knows...maybe this is in the works...not that I mean to be optimistic, but I am impressed with the Geon Lab and I'd like to see more content like it added to the game (the Warren is nice, but missed the bar)...Maybe the next Lab/Cave/Base added to the game will have our name all over it...
