Thread: How I got my 3.0 speed Flamethrower
The first Flamethrower I ever owned had a speed of 4.7. As a Novice Commando, I had no clue how important speed would be in the future.
After moving up the Flame three, I set out to find a faster FT and bought a sliced one for 3.6. It was the fastest I had seen. I’ve been using it since.
A few weeks back, I saw a 3 million credit FT with a speed of 2.7. I had never seen or heard of such a thing. That was way out of my budget and I passed it off as the “dream weapon” I would never own.
Then one day, I came across some FT’s with a speed of 4.5 (unsliced). The fastest unsliced I had seen previously was 4.7. I started doing the math and realized that a 33% speed slice would make that sucker have a speed of 3.0. Wow.
I made a deal with the weaponsmith and bought four of them. I took them to a Master Smuggler to let him do his magic. I cried as he read off the stats:
- 24% damage
- 22% damage
- 18% speed
- 21% damage

A few days later, I acquired enough money to try the exercise again. I bought three more FT’s. I cried once more as the Master Smuggler read me the stats:
- 17% damage
- 25% damage
- 22% damage

At this point, I decided it was a waste of time and money. I had seven sliced Flamethrowers that were no faster than the one I’ve owned for months.
But I kept doing the math in my head: A 33% speed slice would give me a speed of 3.0!
The final attempt
This time I paid a Master Smuggler to come to the vendor with me. I would buy one and he would slice it. If it wasn’t the magic slice, I would repeat the process.
First Flamethrower: 23% speed
I was impressed, because it was the fastest speed slice yet. It gave me 3.3 speed. But I thought, what the hell, let’s keep going.
Second Flamethrower: 23% speed.
Okay, what are the chances of that?
Third Flamethrower: 33% speed.
Jackpot!
So, after ten sliced flamethrowers, I’m carrying around a Flamethrower with a speed of 3.0. And I didn’t pay millions for it… just several hundred thousand. 
ahhh the pains of commando, I had a 4.7 speed flamer w/ 925max dmg for ages. and no matter what I did I couldnt get anything better. Until one day I was getting trained by a master commando and he said he was dropping it and gave me his 1.9 speed 1150max dmg flamer. I am in heaven. Thats all I have to say.
Does speed even affect the cooldown time?
I'm realizing after reading this my 3.0 Flamer might be worth something.

yeah, there's a bunch of flamers like that on ahazi. too bad they're all exploited. not saying yours is, but i know the ones floating around my server are.
so in the end thats all that matters.

And this makes you better than the exploiter? Sure, whatever lets you sleep better at night. If SOE would do their job your little 3.0 would disappear right along with the person that made it. Oh well!
The 3.0's are perfectly normal. Thats just some +30 tissue witha really good speed slice. My bet is the 1.9 Flamers are from when Krayt tissue had no serial numbers.
