Thread: CH Change has people in uproar over Commando Profession

I was just reading some of the posts on the CH forum, trying to understand the extent of the changes made in that profession, when I noticed that many of the whiners there are screaming NERF to commando's. It seems they feel that Commandos were more in need of a nerf than they were, and seem to be pleading to Dev's that if they can make such drastic changes to pets, then commando is too overpowered and need change as well.

Of course, these people are highly misinformed and are just trying to bring grief to others because of what has happened to them, but it is odd how many have picked on the commando profession. They should only know that 2 of the 4 trees in commando are seriously broke, yet theycannot see past the flamethrower. It is pretty disturbing to see such short sighted perceptions, but they are out there in full force. Hopefully the dev's do not buy into any of this bull, and fix what is broke in our profession, not break what is working.

I'm a Master CH and I'll state for the record that the CH changes are good. We were too powerful before and then combos of pets were few and far in between. I used to be able to solo POIs with two Graul Maulers and frankly it was ridiculous. In fact, pets are probably still too powerful given the number of pets and pet levels stats. Conversely, the Commandos I played with before seemed almost useless compared to me. I look forward to grouping with commandos now!

eh? the class problems, no doubt about that, but we're not almost useless. paired with the right professions we are the best pve class out there.

I'm going Master Ch, however choose to put points in Commando. Ideally I would like to go 0 4 4 0, atm I am 0 0 2 0, and I love it. Whole reason why I choose to go Master CH instead of Master Commando is the fact I love to solo, and hate being chewed on. I am quite happy with the patch even thou I have to wait another skill lv now to use my graul, pre - patch I could use him. Seems like the patch made Master CH more rewarding, and keeps everyone and their brother fromhaving a Mauler Graul. And yes wild pets have been nerf'ed, however looks like you can run down a Bio - Engineer and have him make a wickednasty pet. So, looks like the patch had a purpose for all.

If any of the CH's demand a Commando Nerf, agree with them...but on2 conditions...their pet's will only run to 16m and stop...and the owner must be within 16m for thier pet's to keep fighting...no attacks can be done outside 16m...AND...they only get 1 strong pet type...all the other pets get broken or are weaker clones of that 1 pet type...

That seems fair...then and only then could you compare the 2 professions...

Thank you for your post. At least you are being honest. You obviously have actually played the commando class and realize that the commando has been a seriously flawed class. Now we get a little love and are able to stand toe to toe with the best of them as we should.

I am sure that as time goes on and the rest of the combat changes take place the commando will continue to be balanced. As will all the other combat classes. My suggestion to the CH's out there who are crying nerf is to take a page from the commandos play book and learn to "shutup" about other classes. All crying nerf does is bring the nerf bat to your own class.

Creature handlers still have a use after their nerf.

If the Developers were to do something awful to the Commando's it might make the class useless

With the new patch in I think I'll drop CH (I never planed on going far in it, just dabbled to see what it was like), and Master TKA/Commando. Then maybe a bit of Smuggler dirty fighting on the side...

Commandos are supposed to be the most respected and feared form of warrior on the Star Wars battlefield (not including Jedi). Creature handlers are supposed to provide mounts for labour and transport. As it is, Commandos are, from what I've seen and been told, good, but still broken, while CH masters still have pets that outclass some elite combat masters.

When almost all fighting done in the SW universe is with 'a good blaster at your side', I believe the CHs should feel lucky (I know I'd feel **edit** right guilty) that their profession is as powerful as it is in combat. Were it not, I'd dare say it'd go the way of the DE, with the exception of those who want an creautrecompanion with them in the game regardless of combat prowess, most would be Commandos or BHs right now.

Here endeth the rant.

After looking at the stats of the BEd level 70 Kimos that CHs can now control, I'm genuinely puzzled how they could possibly think they're underpowered. It continues to regularly blow my mind.

Commando, on the other hand is still1/2 broken. The FT and HW lines are nice, but there's no interdependency between the various branches, no LP branch, and the HAR/Grenades are of marginal usefulness.

A nerf? I think not. Commando is in line for some more lovin' from where I stand.

Mister Heavy, that made me smile... Thank you!

I used to me a master CH and really, it was so boring I dropped it. There wasn't anything I couldn't kill in the game with ONE pet out, not three and certainly not two. Yea, there are places where you might need two tanks, but a good ch can control a whole spawn at fort tusken.
As a master commando, I was super pumped today when I was able to whip a night sister ranger solo style. I am nearly master teras kasi at the moment and I know that helps, but still, without tk, its just burn'em and run. Thats not really fun, but with tk, I tickle'em with the flame and then spam kd till she goes down, then toss a proton grenade and watch the purdy lights. *maniacal laugh* That to me is friggin' fun!
Keep your silly pets...

"then toss a proton grenade "

you brave soul! i wont lob a grenade unless im 30m away. I had enough of the creatures laughing and not even DB'ing me (because they were too busy laughing) after i blew myself up throwing the things at 'ideal' range.
