This just in: CU has been Saved!


In the latest patch (today)...

PvE: DOABLE! On Dantooine and from a mission terminal (Balanced according to the Devs) a Level 81 Mokk did a whopping 342 damage before being resisted by my armour (about half that damage actually taken). I hear the DWB is now CL 80, and CL 81 for the SBDs too. PvE hasn't bitten the dust!

AoE: FULL AREA DAMAGE! Its buggy at worst however. So far tested and confirmed that the HLC and PFT both are giving FULL damage with AoE - however, I had to use range shot for the HLC until its AoE started doing 100% with other specials. The PFT sometimes didnt give AoE, haven't tested the other weapons yet or if it works 100% with higher level specials.

DoTs: My god, Helios you're something! DOTs work! In a span of 50-70 seconds in combat, I did 1507 Fire Damage to a target that had 6-7k ham!

Certifications: PFT is now Master Commando again, still seems a bit buggy as the PR hasn't been returned to normal (im guessing the other weaps too are like this for those professions having the same probs)

PvE has been resusicitated...the CU has been saved from the folks on Live. Commandos...have gotten last minute love

So far, my only complaint: Action costs are still a *bit* too high. Its somewhat managable verse one CL 81 mob, as with the Proton Rifle and improved legshot (most damaging special I have) its about 20% of my action, by the time the legshot can be fired again 12% has regenerated. Its ok against single mobs, but against multiple mobs of your type its a bit unbalanced I think (you often go with the targets with little hp, but you're out of action and take a good 10-20% HP whupping before you can take em down again!) Our AoE really will help commandoes solo aggros better if this stays as is!

So the question I have is.... What DOES work for commando right now. Or rather what is working as intended? I dont care about what isnt working just yet. I just want to know what I will be able to use on launch : )

More appropiate: What doesn't work? Now grenade damage (and cleaning up AoE a bit more) are our two biggest gripes...

Well title of post was the sunny side of the CU so I was trying to be positive : ). I am trying hard to look for what I can do. Not what I cant do. As it seems they fix what they want to when they get to it. Im just along for the ride. Hell, when I started the game all I knew is I wanted to be a smuggler.

I picked up commando with the extra exp.. the race I chose... wookie. So, smuggler, wookie, commando. Imagine what happened when I figured out about armor etc later on... He he he. Didnt know how much tougher I could have made it on myself.


So in frustration on waiting for the CURBI finally deleted my toon and started over as a human.... about 2 days before they announce ROTW.... So needless to say seen some bad days. Now im just trying to see what I can do to enjoy the only Star Wars MMORPG out there.

Hmm, so is NPC/mobregen and *possibly* the damage modifier the two big issues with the CU?


I wonder if the regen thing is a bug, perhaps that's what the NPC action pool is supposed to be like, rather than the NPC health pool.

From what Ive seen, damage modifiers no longer even apply...

For the critter regen, didn't seem a prob...but giving NPCs an ability to do the retreat command sorta sucks (you miss a lot and waste lots of action hehe)

Interesting, I'll have to test what my live-build will be on Dantooine again (last time I tried, pickets one level below me, at 68, killed me by the time I had them to 75% life).

Tested on dantooine hehe, I took on 6 level 54 pickets and won. DoTs and full AoE was NIIICE...

I don't think anything has 100% resists anymore...

Although, CL81 armour just about halves our damage (still is 2.5x more than they do, but with armour its like 5-6x)...Im thinking, its just resists on the base damages...and that nothing has more than 60% armour anymore.

I have not played the Test Center CU so i have no clue what is going on i have been gone for a couple months. Im tryn to Gather all the info i can right now seams a bit Much to take in.

-speed mods? will they work
-Whats all this Talk about DPS , What is it and how does it work?

Thanks Bro, also is there some kind of hard cap on Heavy Weapon speed? If so what would it it be at? I think master is at 45+ ???
