Thread: Can we lose the fighting pre-req?

Since BH is losing 3 of their pre-reqs I was hoping we could lose at least one of ours.

2 Reasons why.

1. Commandos never, ever, ever use unnarmed. I'd rather have to master something else in the scout tree than unnarmed, getting brawling IV just doesn't make sense.

2. Call it a personal beef if you will. But I was hoping I could be a commando/squad leader, since the trees did have somethings in common. However with that unnarmed requirement I can't do it at all. I get so close, but still so far.

What's everyone else think?

Lots of people have thought of getting another pre-req. There are many opinions, however I feel that the unarmed tree is probably the best out of all of them. Why you ask? Because we have easy access to TKA. We are forced to be a hybrid proffession right now and will always be a hybrid profession. I will ask you this; would you rather have engineering and then spend more skill to get up a second elite prof?

Good point. I just heard about the BH love, so I was hoping for a little Commando love too. NO!!!

The Devs have finaly lost their *edit* minds! You guys sure in the *edit* were not thinking on this one as all the others. Just do us a favor, Instead of slowly killing our belovid proffesion, JUST REMOVE IT ENTIRELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it would be less painful you freaking nuna brained nerf hearders!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been Beta testing and playing these games for well over 10 years, before mmorpg was the thing. Every conceivable bug, mistake and error in programing line that we were hired by other games to help find and keep out you CONSTANTLY LET IN!!!!!!!!!!! I thought EA Games big crapoloa on the players of Earth and Beyond was the top cake, but what you guys are doing here is beyond ridiculous. It smacks all your customers in the face, shows lack of loyalty to them, A major lack of any constructive customer feed back. especialy when all we get is smoke up our bottoms every time we ask for a staight answere. the line "it will be covered in the combat balance" is utter *edit*. How about answering a question staight out and give us a list of things that WILL BE DONE FOR SURE TO COMMANDO IN THE CB. NOT the day before it is released but in the next couple of days.

CRAPPING ON YOUR CUSTOMER BASE IS BAD BUISNESS, AND NOT THE WAY TO KEEP YOUR BLOODY JOBS!!!!!

Nothing personal Ster, but I have no interest what so ever in becoming a TKA. It may work well for you but it does not for me.

Whether you are a TKA for the power or you just like the idea or both.

I don't care about the power of TKA

I don't want to be TKA

I don't want to be forced into being TKA as my only other option.

The pallets were supposed to be open. But I cannot master anything else, and that's just not right.

I want to have an option to master something else.

Pistoleer, Carbineer, Rifleman are all pretty useless to me. Unless I'm using a pistol, carbine, or rifle, which I'm not. Because I'm a commando not a pistoleer carbineer or rifleman.

Hell I can't even use the Rifle skills I got with my acid rifle, or the Carbine skills I got with my flame thrower. The pistol skills work with the launcher pistol, but you don't get any better pistol skills once you become a commando so what's the point?

I want other combat skills that will be useful to me WHILE I'm being a commando. In other words a combat profession that doesn't involve me unequipping or equipping other weapons. Like CH, or Combat Medic, or Squad Leader.

I don't want to craft spices, or slice, or do anything crafty. Thanks, but no thanks.

No offense taken at all. However, I was amaster commando before I was a TKA. I had MCommando/MScout for the longest time. Then I realized I kept getting beat down like no one's business. No matter how much damage I could dish out, I couldnt take any. That is when I decided to take up TKA. Not for the offense, but for the defense. It also blends nicely with Commando in the fact that you have to be in melee range to use the FT specials anyways. So I typically run up, KD/Dizzy, Flame Single 2, Flame Cone 2, and then switch back to my knucklers for the defence.

Now I understand what you are saying with only having the option of TKA. There have been talks on the BH boards about being able to pick and choose which line to go up; Carbineer, Pistol, or rifleman. Maybe the same thing could happen with commando and the brawler skills.

Pistoleer with the Launcher Pistol is rather fun. I like the continous explosions and the lack of visibility through all the smoke and fire. Not for killing Krayts, but it's fun to light up a chuba with 12 explosions...lol!

We don't want to lose our unarmed pre-req. Why? Because if we lose it, we no longer the class with the most combat prerequesites, which gives us our right say we *should* be one of the meanest combat classes. And if we don't have that, how are we ever going to get anything changed for the better?

I love the unarmed class. I am taking the TKA class to because since we are forced to spend 90% of our time in melee range, fighting against stuff with 50% or higher heat resistant, being able to dot then wail away on kinetic(which strangely more things are susceptable to) makes life easier. Plus the melee defense is absoulutely awesome.

My 0.000005 credits worth.

I too don't think we should have the unarmed pre-req, and I like the idea of doing Commando/SL since we're both already closely nit together (and i mean that in a leader/soldier type, not skills)

I personally am doing Commando/Carbineer in hopes we get an AC (Assault Carbine)

plus you get the ranged dizzy/kd so thats always a +

If commando was workig properly, I'd be against changing the pre-req's.

Since I'm assuming may of our issues are going to be addressed in the Combat Balance, I'd say no, our pre-req's should stay where they are. To say "Look at the love BH's got" is pointless. More skillpoints isn't what we need. We can already master other professions.

Nothing you can master after you have mastered Commando seems to actually complement the Commando skills. They just seem to be completely independent.

Whereas if you are like a Bounty Hunter you can also get Pistoleer which makes you even more formidable with your scatter pistol.

It just doesn't work like that for Commando.

I think your missing my point. I don't want what BH'sget cause they got it. I've wanted no Brawling Requirements for Commando for a while, and if the dev team is looking at it. I'm going to speak up about it.
