When will smugglers will be fixed...



My bet is 2 months, after player cites, before space expention. If not that will be the final draw for me... I will give up the smuggler tree and will be FORCED to select an other profession if I whant to do ANYTHNG in combat.


Since GreenMarine is head DEV, he is working on player cities, mounts, vehicules... But he is also chef and smuggler... OMFG hire some folks for the love of GOD. and bet what they have broke in you tree..

Where's the smuggler love?


Like most things, another thing they promised, and have yet to deliver.

First of all, you’re not FORCED to choose another class to be effective in combat. You play what you want.

No one’s holding a gun to your head, or a knife to your throat, and telling you what to do.

If you wanted to be that effective in combat, you should have chosen another class to work on in addition to Smuggler. Any class that has three full branches of the tree focused on non-combat SHOULD NOT expect to rule with a gun. Unless they completely unbalance Smuggler, we should not have better Speed, Hit, or any other bonuses with a pistol than a Pistoleer or Bounty Hunter. We should not be better in unarmed than a TKA.

That being said why CAN’T you be effective in combat? Are you out constantly trying to kill red-con mobs? You shouldn’t. You shouldn’t be able to, and you shouldn’t try. They’re Red Con for a reason…doesn’t stop me from trying. Good use of tactics (what little bit exists in this game), proper application of specials, and the right tool for the job make a lot of difference.

I fully advocate the use of doctor buffs, spice, entertainer buffs, and armor. I don’t use any of them that often.

We do need some better abilities, hell, let’s face it, our tree is pretty broke. If you’re looking to be able to be highly effective in combat, well, you should probably A) look somewhere else, B) try to add some pistoleer/TKA skills to your character, since you’ve already got the required prerequisites for them. I had/have (never play him) a character on Scylla who’s a Pistoleer/Smuggler…works quite well. I’m not as high in Dirty Fighting as I am on Kettemoor, but from what I’ve heard, the Smuggler specials are a nice addition to what the Pistoleer already gets.

Smuggler is NOT a combat class. It has combat elements yes but it is in no way a combat class. Secondly the only reason there are two slots that require pistol xp is because of the lack of smuggler missions. If you would bother to read what the slots are for you would realize that underworld is all about connections and dealing with people. How do we get this from using a gun??? It is simply there cause of a lack of static smuggler missions therefore no smuggler xp! So in reality(some place you seem to be far from) smuggler has but one combat slot. I am sure that the DEV's will aventually address this issue with a new set of missions tailored to the smuggler. Also take into consideration that you are not a BH or a commando. Therefore it would seem obvious that you should not be able to kill one seeing as how both of them had to work harder to get where they are than you probably did.


In summary YOU ARE NOT IN A COMBAT CLASS! Get over your so called lack of combat skills that we do NOT need. If you want to be all powerful go be a BH or a commando we will not miss you if you leave. Just means more money for us.

You feel we should measure up to who then?



  • Us =2 Combat lines + 2 Sub class combatlines = 4 lines



  • Pistoleers? = all 4 trees combat related xp + Marksman pistol = 5 lines

  • Commandos? = all 4 trees combat related xp + Master Marksman (4trees) + Master unarmed (1tree) = 9 lines

  • Bounty Hunter? = all 4 trees combat related xp (i know investigation but it is basically combat missions) + Master marksman (4trees) = 8 Lines

  • Rifleman, swordman, etc. = pretty much the same

All of em take morethe combat xp we take, some by over twice the amount. So where do you feel we should measure up to them in comparision with our lines. Underworld is combat onlyfor lack of a better matchreally, and is somewhat cheaper than most.


So bang for buck where should a Smuggler's ability be in comparision to the accepted Combat classes?


My view: Jack of All Trades = Master of None. We are pretty much where we can expect to be. Yes I'd like to see a bit more unarmed in the dirty, but I would never try to stand against an expert in thier field.


Yes we are most definatly a combat related class, but we are not combat specialist. Big differance.


It amazes me how so many smugglers will argue for there to be a Large amount of differance in ability between Slice4 and Master...a Block, kinda. Yet think we should measure up to fighters with Trees more than us in combat experiance.

I'm plenty effective in combat, PVE and PVP..I'm a big Wookiee TKA/Smuggler/Pistoleer

Wow you insane, 2 of your skill tree is Pitols xp, and we need unarmed and pistol expert to get our class. If this is not the pre-requisits for a freaking fighting class, I am green and my first name is Yoda...

Taking all bets....we'll see our first PC Jedi AFTER the next big patch...


Why? Probably a bug fix, but who in galaxy knows for sure anyway. Could be a quest that suddenly starts working, or a badge that begins working, or whatever. Then blammo, a few people across different servers get messages. The devs could have known about it, but not fixed it until they were more ready for a Jedi to appear.


Then we'll see the official dev announcements on these here forums. They won't tell us who they are. All Jedi will immediately retreat the far corners of Yavin or Talus or something and ponder who and/or when they should tell about there new Jedi. These forums will be in a frenzy again and it will probably be quite exciting.


I may be dead wrong, and similar things have been said already. Flame away, it wont be the first time a Jedi thread has been flamed LOL. I probably shouldn't have wasted my time posting this, but I'm killing time at work atm and had nothing else to do. :-)


Anyway, just another theory...but it's my best guess.

Sorry, but unless you are talking about npc jedi you are wrong. Dev's still have not announced anyone unlocking it yet. = Not a flame, just a correction.

Since, the advertising is out and about JTL.I doubt that they will highlight any problems with the core game, like mention of a Combat Upgrade. Probably wewill see something about getting the Master level without PvP and/or Kessel.

I think it'll be JtL again, too, and the thought disgusts me.


Am I the only one who was disappointed with JtL and cannot understand the hype? To me, it fails to live up to the experience ofmy beloved TIE Fighter and X-Wing games.
