We dont know yet. No announcement about it has been made. And probably an announcement WONT be made, given that we are often left out in the dark on everything. Or filed under "Misc"
If past history is indicative of their actions, then yes, we will need new flamers.
Personally, if it comes down to instituting a fix that affects only new flamers, or delaying the fix until legacy flamers can be included as well, then they need to delay it.
I'm wary, but not willing to jump the gun on this. It's fair to say the expectation is that all FT's will work properly (and be PuPable) for us to consider the issue closed. So let's test it as best we can and see if the extra data will help SOE out. And see if the newly crafted FT can take a PuP. Give them info to fix, since this has a little bit of their attention.
I find a lot of humor in the request consistently being for us to test it ourselves however. LOL. Can't SOE test it without our help? It sure strikes me as being within the scope of their Quality Control / Quality Assurance process. Ok....I did it. I managed to say that with a straight face! LOLOLOL! QC/QA process at SOE! I kill myself! (at least with the old proton grenades)
The New flamer and my old flamer still had broken AoE, so whatever the case (suppousedly AoE is working internally) it may not have even gotten on TC for all we know...
Cross your fingers, I also brought this up in my findings on AoE testing on TC...this would be unacceptable if we gotta buy all new weapons.
The data on all of the Flame Throwerson Bloodfin is good. I Aoe'd a field of greys and one hit killed about 25 of them in one shot,then watched a QA Lead blow up a field of NPCs in one shot on a different TestCenter. I will keep watching for reports of them not hitting, but it would be great if someone on one of the test centers could report the exact condition their flamethrower didnt work in. Ie, charactername, flamethrower stats, serial number, elemetal damage amount, how far away the mobs were, how close they were standing, what was their con, etc.
