Hello there, I am a new novice commando, and this is the first time i have visited the commando boards and i have to say, for what i have read so far i am a little bit worried.

Nobody seems to like the class ! please people will you post things that are good about the class and that you love and any hints or tips that you can give me to get the most out of the class. From what i read TH is busy going up the commando tree so atleast if there are problems he should discover them for his self.

yeah so make me feel happy i have gone commando and tell me what you love

Thanks

There is not one Master Commando that I know who doesnot enjoy being a Master Commando. In fact, most of us fight very hard to make the class better. We are a powerful and to some a scary combat class. As it should be. We spend an inordinate number of xps on warcraft with little left for much of anything else.

IfYOU enjoy being a Commando that is really all that matters. Don't worry about all the people who come to the forums to complain, and moan about commando. If they are commando's they are just frustrated that we have a number of weapons that don't really live up to their billing and then there are others who have repeatedly had their arses handed to them by a commando and want the class gutted. BAH! Cry babies!!

You have worked hard toMaster the finest class in SWG and you should work hard to help others and to help make the class better. Have Fun!!

TheFlump,

Sorry for any typos.....didnt have time to spell check.

The commando skill isn't as bad as everyone says it to be. Now with that being said, I too have tons of things that would like to be changed, or at least a plea for them to stop nerfing things just cause BH's want them to and fix the many many things that have plagued us.

So maybe we are asmessed upas what everyone says we are.....basically we're the "nerfgoat" of the galaxy. As someone else put it so nicely.......

Back to your statement....

Going solo for the first time and taking out a Fambaa on Naboo was really a rush. No, it's not the biggest and most powerful of creatures, but the task was still a hard one and it was really fun to see it go down after I was done.

It's all about style. You have to learn what combnations to use in combat to get the most Dmg. With that being done, you will truly be an asset to any group.

When I read that the Commando in its current state is more of a helping role rather than the all mighty of professions.......that put things in perspective for me.

Don't go out and think you can kill anything that gets in your way. You'll soon find out that doesn't work too well.....however, if you do go out and take on the worst creatures out there......you will find that our skills will greatly increase any chance of killing things off with the help of others.

Use grenades. The added combat XP will help you in the long run. However, grenades in general are almost pointless unless the creature can take 100% of the dmg. As you can read in other places....their hard to make, the aim on them and distance to throw them sucks, and the timing can be deadly in a combat situation......

Stay away from the flamethrower at least until skills 2 or even 3. Your aim will suck so bad, that it wont be worth the misses. Use our Launcher Pistol instead..........at least you can hit alot better with that thing and still get the XP for it. Besides, if you dont use it now.....you'll never use it. Its wacked too if you read in other posts about it.....

All in all, being a Commando is good. It's truly a heavy class with different weapons however its just has most of us wondering if they'll ever fix the problems. That being said, our only weapon we can use is the flamethrower once we get advanced enough to use it.

Does it have its uses......oh yeah!

Is it a good skill to have.......for sure!

Is it currently working the way it should?

Unless I was bugged the last time I looked:

Take a look atour skill page......For every 4th skill you get a new title. For crying out loud, we have atitle that says we are a Ordinace Manufacturer or something like that. That in itself makes me laugh.

Thats more like it, thats what i wanted to see. Much more uplifiting,

I have to admit, from when i first fired my Flame Thrower and then my launcher pistol i thought WOW this is what i am talking about !!

i do need advice on range though, my little +/- indicator above my head dosent seem to make sense.

I assume my launcher pistol basically works in the same way as my fwg5 except has some fantastic explosions and a cool trail in the air so i am just using it as i would my fwg5.

however with my launcher pistol and my acid rifle i cant for the life of me figure out how close/far away i should be from a tartge. kneeling seems to help but going prone makes things worse.

yeah so erm any advice on range would help too.

Use your LP like any other pistol, except it has good accuracy at long and short range, unlike normal pistols (except republic blaster). Put your HAR in the bank, as you will never use it. Put your flamethrower in your backpack until you have the Flame 1 box complete at least. I could go into all the details, but suffice to say: the HAR accuracy mods are somewhat borked and the flamethrower is just plain inaccurate. Once you start using your /flamesingle1 special, you need to be within 16m of the target and until you have box 3 in Flame, you will even miss at that distance too.

If you haven't already, I suggest you read the commando FAQ stickied to the top of this board.

LOL thanks for that no-show, if nothing elsei am learning that the commando group are atleast a group that are willing to help other, (based on the length of the replies i am getting) and willing to share tricks of the trade.

Thanks for the help guys, now i just want to get home from work and start getting xp, luckly cause the class is totaly new to me it dosent feel like a grind yet and i am enjoying playing loads. It was nice to go out in a group the other day and get calls from the group of how i "kick ass" some of them had been in a group with another commando and were complainaing that he had used hit Flame thrower too much and stole all the xp but they were thanking me for only using it now and then (wow over charge shot2 with a Flamer kicks ass (when it hits))

I only just realised now from readin another thread that i could use health shot 2 and health shot 1 togehter he he, and then learnt that we can stack our flame shots, mind at my level that would take about 30 secs for me to fire twice and combat is normally over by then lol

Hey Flump,

You know, i'm a master commando and never have used the overcharge shot with my flame.

I found out quick that it truly hurts the condition of your weapon in the marksman skill tree, so I forgot I even had it.......

I don't know if it will be worth the dmg to my gun, but does it really increase the dmg to the animal?

I may have to try that with one of my older model flames......

Contact me in game tonight. 10-11pm est

We can go out and do some hunting if you would like.......a group of us goes out just about every night. XP flies so fastthat way.....

Later,

I really enjoyed getting heavy weapons exp, I wish there was an elite class on top of commando so I could keep killing stuff with my flamethrower.

As some one who is coming back to commando for the second time(I was dumb, dont ask) I am really much more aware ofthis classes strengths and weaknesses. My first time around, fights were always the same. Send in pet, use flame special till dead. This worked but gave me a false sense that commandos were untouchable. I realize now as I try the same creatures without a pet just how ignorant I was. We ARE powerful, but this isnt the same as invincible. I am not going to go into the whole pet/no pet arguement. That is a personal choice about what works for you.If you go into every fight acting as if what you are fighting is tougher than you, you should be fine. Im sure you know that already I just thought Id say it out loud one more time. Our weapons are lots of fun to use and do good damage when, and if, they hit.And groups will love having you around.Ive been a professional profession changer and this was the only one I missed and came back to.Thats the best endorsement of Commando I can give to you. The things that need fixing are far outweighed by the the things that rock for commandos. But, I would still love to see the fixes happen.

Verify the overcharge shot on flamethrowers, that is the shot i used until i got up the tree a bit. It does hurt the weapon of course, but its worth it for the xp just to get u up the tree a bit. of course, it doesnt set them on fire..

I can second that. I recently started using overcharge2 with an old FT to soften some targets that tend to cause me problems. I only use it if I must engage at range.
