From The new essential guide to weapons and technology by W. Hdon Blackmon and Ian Fullman
E-web blast vechiels and even starships
Takes two troopers 15 minutes to set it up
Time to warm up and calibrate the generator
CAn be relocated in 5 minutes
E-WEB(15)( and F-WEB
Same but improved versions and F-WEB can be set up in shorter periods of time
M-WEB (mobile)previous versions had to be carried onto the batlefield bytransports the M-web has built in suspensers in botht he gun and the genrerator.
Both crewman are exensively trained and the weapon can be operated by a single trooper.
With this new inforamtion I may just have to withdraw my oblections to the E-web being a Commando weapon.
(I still think it is an artillery piece.}

Think of E-webs as more of a M-2 .50 cal machine gun.
although any infantry marine will tell you that an m-2 firing position set up in more than two minutes is shameful, and that includes headspace, timing, and aiming stakes.
seriously, though, i love the idea. a crew fired weapon would bring back the Heavy in commando.
it doesnt even need to have a higher damage rate than the average gun. it just needs to shoot further and faster.
I think it says in the manual that 15 mins is what it takes o set up a M-2. Liquid whiteout is also listed as a hazerdous Material. /boggle just becuase it says in the manual that it takes stormtroopers 15 min to set up an e-web, doen't mean it actually takes that long, incoming fire tends to add extra incentive to hurrry the hell up.

Hehe yeah.
Definately some form of a time constraint (so this is more of a tactical group weapon, used in supporting attack groups with heavy fire in skirmishes and base raids, or used to set up and/or fortify existing base perimeters and choke points) is needed if the E-Webb is ever to be implented.
Meanwhile I strongly favor that this would be a commando only weapon, having a squad leader in your group -should- give added bonuses as well as special attacks that are very beneficial to the group. Such interaction then doesn't just have to be between commando and SL...but between Hvy Weaponry here> and SL. Like, if tanks were ever implented or lighter machine gun emplacements (for riflemen or carbineers).
Not only would we get a great weapon that would be balanced, but allow a flexible system that can be enhanced and added to later down the road...

Actually, this would be the best way to keep it close to reality... the increased benefit shouldnt be in set up, it should be in acuracy. when a gun crew sets up a position, they can fire on various area targets. but usually, they set several crews up in a gun line. they have the gun squad leader sighting in on the target and calling out corrections to the gun positions to increase the overall firepower generated by that part of the line.
a single gun position can put some rounds downrange, but add the squadleader into the mix, and the overall acuracy should go way up.
whacha think?

Yeah back when there was a lot of cross-forum debate between the SLs and Commandos that system was brought up quite a bit, and most of us here do agree with that...so if ever the devs give an option for the E-Webb, thats definately something we should push for

Yes, the setup time for properly placing an E-Web would be a nice offset for the offensive punch this thing could do.
For one, a group of players on the defense of their base would have an advantage with these things set up.
A group on the attack can still utilize it, but the gun crew must be protected until then.
And Ma Deuce still rocks after decades of use. Uncle Sam got his money's worth from her!

Heh that'd be cool, a whole line of commando's with E-Webbs. All ready, and pissed at the year and a half of frustration...and ready to show their opponents just how much they feel about it...
THAT be fun to watch...

No offence but I was an O331 (MG) in the Marine Corps. and that 15 min. inclueded making a range card (to pre-list possible targets) and even then 15 min. is grossly over rated. it really should be done within 5min at most. I think the E-Web seen in ESB would have been setup in maybe 1min at most, but if time was allowed maybe 5min at max.
