Thread: The Bandwagoner Situation- Please Read
As many of you know, as well as complaining about, there is a large Bandwagoner Situation within the Commando profession now that the newest patch has been rolled out. More people are going to join our profession weather you like it or not. This whole situation with "not training the Bandwagoners" is very very annoying to me personally. I have been a commando for 1 month now, and have gotten more xp in the past 5 days than I did previously because my old flamethrower couldnt dew jack **edit**. (something like 15-220) with 0 range.
Yet I have tried talking to over 10 commandos asking for training, and they all reject me, calling me things such as "A **edit**ing Bandwagoner" and how I should go jump aboard someone elses profession. Now I am personally not A bandwagoner myself, but who gives a **edit** if I was. I train everyone that comes to me. It a frigging game people. I think you should treat it accordingly and now harass your fellow commandow wheather they became one july 10th or September 6th. They will not go away, and frankly I dont mind them. Its there choice what profession they picked, and if they want a profession that does major damage, so be it. Not as many bragging rites for all those Master Commandos? Well then so be it.
Get over the bandwagoners now. We have a good profession here, and in the end they cannot do anything but help our commando community grow. Lets not turn into a bunch of whining pistoleers here people.![]()
Personally (sorry for imposing on your board again) have seen a massive increase in Novice BH's on Kauri. I thought there were a lot before, but now it's every third person. Same with commando's being on the rise. The only thing I can say is, it's more of an incentive for us to master our professions. I have a feeling them being so hard and time consuming to master will root out a lot of people that want other skills.
I had a few friends decide to go commando after the patch. One has already changed his mind to dabble in BH, and another levels slowly, so I doubt he'll last too long before finding something else to do.
There will be a lot of commandos. Understand this and deal with it now. If you want to play a profession that no one else in the game your playing is using, go ahead and stop playing an mmo. They won't have 275k profession possibilities in this game anytime soon ![]()
Several people, like me, had to pay 130000 credits to the trainer as there was no one else to train us.
Now, all those who have been working on commando put me on their friends lists and made pals with me. Been chatting with them for the past month.
That said, I only have 5 prodigies. Yes, only 5 prior to this patch.
Now I get spammed like mad with tells in game. Many wanting training.
If they are polite to me and nearby, I don't mind.
Otherwise I email them the nearest waypoint to a trainer.
Lol Ivoni, Im just picturing you logging on one day expecting to see if your lucky, 1 other commando on the same planet, and all of a sudden being spammed by a million noob commandos! Lmao.
Still its just as well, the more the better, if thats the profession they want to do let them, your not going to have a profession that nobody else has if its desirable, as Zoltah said. Hehe I'm not as frustrated anymore though, found a Grenadeer who needed the A.P. points to make master.![]()
It was the same way with me on my doctor, I was master doc early on (and about a day or two behind the big powergamers) and I was always getting plagued with /t's to come teach this person or heal their pet, etc.. I ended up having to remove myself from being searchable because it was 1 /t every 2 minutes. In the entire medic/doc tree there were 3 skills I didn't pay the NPC to train (went halves on pharmacology 3, was trained int wound speed in exchange for training someone Master wound treat, and was given med knowledge 2 by a friend.) My Doctor makes a heap less than my commando too.
I'm currently enjoying my commando a lot more than my doctor (haven't touched my doctor except to pay house maintenance for the past 4 weeks.) I really grew tired of people I never saw before expect me to drop everything to come out in the middle of nowhere to heal/res/buff them and then receive a 1k tip for it (and this is a real slap in the face when they wanted buffs because the resources for the 6 buffs cost more than 1k market value.) I felt like a cursed personal med droid most of the time.
To summarize my latest log-in with my doc: I log in and a friend of a friend sends a /t "hey where've you been?" I reply I've been elsewhere and then they say "If you're near Tyrena I could use a heal." Me being 2 minutes walk outside Tyrena and just logging in to pay houes maintence tell them that I'm logging in 5 mins and that if they come to me I'll heal them. They reply "na, nevermind."
errmmm /endofrant! (sorry about that!)
Anyways, when I need training I just wander over to Kor Vella and meet the NPC. I make plenty to afford it so no beans to me!
I got Commando about a month before the patch and I rarely saw another Commando...hell some guy in a Cantina called me his hero cuz I was sticking with a nerfed profession (this was back when LP was still pistol xp)
I have definitely seen a lot more Commandos popping outta the woodwork in the last few days. Even a friend of mine was gonna surrender pistoleer and go Commando. Seems to me that alot of the so-called Bandwagoners are attracted to the high damage like moths to a flame. But I got a feeling alot will switch back when they see how quickly we can die waiting for our weapons to fire again and the lack of defensive modifiers.
Hardcore Commando Unite (whatever the hell that means)
if a rebel commando asks me for training, i do it without hesitation. if i'm on another planet, i make them come to me. its not like i'm gonna go see them
. if an imperial wants training, well, i just don't do it.i know dolph made master commando today, so he can train all the imperials, and i'll train all the rebels. even when they tip me for the training, i tip it back to them. and yes, i get tells all the time from people asking for training. if they don't wanna meet me, i'll give them a wp to the nearest npc trainer as well. i've had a guy wait a day for me to meet up with him and train him. do i care that others are wanting to become commandos? nope. especially if they're rebels. only reason i don't train imperials is the simple fact that i don't want them to school my fellow rebels on the battlefield
.
i'm on ahazi btw. so if you'rea rebel, and in need of training, hit up soull halcyon. i'll be glad to help. if you're an imperial, hit up dolph (sorry for the advertisement dolph lol)
I'll give my two cents on this subject. I've been a commando ever since the first days, and i stuck with it from the days where the only way for me to get decent xp was to get my worthless ft, go to the tusken camp by wayfar (before nerf) and sit there with 30 other ppl shooting any riders that appeared. Yes, it gave 40k xp in two days, but then, that was good hw xp (lp still gave pistold xp then). First, if a lot of ppl want to switch or become commandos i couldnt care less, but I do take into consideration some facts.
Second, most ppl that have seen me use my ft, want to immediately switch to commando, but as Ivoni pointed out, u'll miss a lot until to get to Flame III, so I doubt all this "bandwagoners" are gonna go trough 750k xp to get decen shoots on the ft.
Third, I have bought every single training on the commando line, and I personally wont train anyone on the commando tree, now if you want marksman or unarmed, give me a call.
Third, I'd have to say mastering commando is harder than bh, simply put because of the combat xp. Well those are my thoughts, i may be wrong or right, depending your point of view. Nandor - Bria.
I'll train anyone for free. I'm a rebel but I'll train an imp aslong as he isn't overt at the time. Why? because it's just a game and I knowit's not fun to spendall day looking around for someone to train their skill.
I won't go to them and I won't stop what I'm doing to help ( leave a mission ect ) but if I'm in town and they ask I'll train them NP.
I agree though in a few weeks alot of commandos will be gone back to professions that you don't die so much in
I love the heavy weapons and my other skills help keep me alive I'm not sure if I have the points to master it but I'm going for 0/4/4/?? forsure, and who knows maybe I'll give up something else and go all the way.
I have to say I appreciate anyone that is willing to train. So thank you ahead of time from all us "Wagoneers".
I want to point out thatsome of us didn't just say "OH, look at that damage! I've GOT to be a Commando!" A lot did I admit. But anyone who looks at the Prof seriously, sees there are some major drawbacks to beiing a Commando. So yeah, it will weed out quite a bit. Esspecially those that have no head for strategy. They will go to BH probably. I didn't go Commando early because a guildmate of mine advised me not to till it was fixed. Said it would be too frustating. (He has since left SWG for more PvP orientated games.) I took his advice but have followed these boards to keep up, never lossing the urge(sp?). I like to have a defined roll in a group. Know my place. This is great for Commando imo. So now that it is fixed I want to follow my orginal plan. I don't think I should be punished because i played it safe. But then again I'm not the one who had to pay (did you say 13K a skill? Ouch!). Note that this isn't a prob for me because myguild has 2 commandos, just wanted to give another perspective. And I have much respect for allof you who have toughed it out, and kept the faith that the MOST broken profession in the game would be fixed. I just lack that kind of faith in SOE.
