Thread: The Knowledge Base

The Knowledge Base is an in-game assortment of questions and answers pertaining to a wide variety of fields and professions. Unfortunately, it's also very underutilized. So, the Correspondents are working together with CSRDavidF to gather feedback, promote publicity and improve the Knowledge Base!

The Knowledge Base can be accessed in-game by opening your Holocron (Ctrl-H) andselecting the 'Customer Service' button. From there, you can either search by keyword or by a specific KB entry ID (if you know one). Alternatively, the Knowledge Base can be accessed through the web, right here.

If you have any corrections, suggestions or general feedback to improve the Knowledge Base, please post them here. Thanks!

The reason that it is underutilized is probably due to past disappointment. I remember using it a lot the first week the game was out. I wouldn't have called it a knowledge base, though. It was more like a "misinformation base", or perhaps a "missing information base". After that, I never bothered again. If it is improved amazingly more than it was, than perhaps I will check into it if I have a question, but I have found these forums infinitely more informative.

Knowledge bases usually have knowledge in them. This one certainly never has.

Then don't waste yours and my time with it!

My antivehicular minefield won't even blowup a gnort and your worried abouttheKB. bah! Sounds like busy work to me. Dothe REALjob or correspondent and let the IT peeps do theirs.Don'twaste another minute on the KB, how bout spamming Thunderheart's PM for weaponsmith fixes, in Publish 7. He seems to be distracted with introducing bugs, rather than fixing existing bugs. It's not like Carbine and Droid, are more deserving in Publish 7 than Weaponsmith.. Well Droid might be. But come on, Carbine only needs an Elite with AP2 and a radius affect.. How hard is that to remedy? They don't need a complete skilltree reformat, Squad Leader does!!!

Thanx for appearing to be busy, Oar

Thank you for kicking off this post Logix. The Knowledge Base in game is quickly growing to cover more and more topics and provide the most accurate information possible. On a daily basis entries are published to the Knowledge Base and any errors that are located are fixed and published.fficeffice" />

The exciting thing about the Knowledge Base is that the response time for the entries can be so swift. If you locate an error in the Knowledge Base and bring it to your correspondent we can fix it and have the corrected version in game within hours or even minutes of receiving that information. Any gaps in the Knowledge Base can also be quickly filled.

I’ve asked your correspondent to start a thread like this for two reasons. First the Knowledge Base is very important to us, but right now it is under utilized. I’m working with the Correspondents and the Developers to increase awareness for the Knowledge Base. Soon we’ll be changing some things in game to make the Knowledge Base a lot more visible.

That brings me to my second reason for coming to you – information that is as complete and accurate as possible. When the Knowledge Base becomes more prominent it will be vital for it to be as complete and accurate as possible. We have been working internally and with the Correspondent program to comb the Knowledge Base and add new entries. We would really appreciate it if you could point out anything that you find to be in error, out dated, or simply missing. If you think a question needs to be asked that’s not here please post it, or send it directly to your correspondent. We’ll work to get as many into the Knowledge Base as we can.

Thank you for your support and we really hope that you find the Knowledge Base to be a useful source of information. Please keep in mind that the Knowledge Base is intended to provide information about systems and policies but will not provide direct spoilers.

I apologize if you have found the Knowledge Base to be less helpfull than you would have liked but that is exactly why we are pushing to update it so agressively. Please understand that this effort is being led by CS and not Development. We are not taking Development time from other issues to enhance this feature but we are able to provide valuable information through this tool.

If there's anything in particular you looked for and didn't find - let your correspondent know! He can contact me and we'll make sure it gets looked at.

For quick answers to many game play questions, you may want to first reference the knowledge base located in the Holocron Menu. You can do so by selecting the customer service option and then using the knowledge base tab. We have recently added hundreds of new FAQs and answers and more will be added more daily, so give it a try!

Payingcustomer, lay off Logix man, jesus you are being harsh. Just quit the damn game already if you are so unhappy. Sorry trying no tto sound like a rabid fanboy of Logix, but I was in his shoes and he is literally doing the most he can do as a correspondant, he can only do as much as the devs vision of the game, and since we don't know what that vision is, nor does he, nothing we can do.

He doenst work at SOE, he's a guy who might not even live in the same stateas the SWG developers, doing this stuff from home or normal work.

Ignore PayingCustomer.

He tends to stick his nose in without ever actually providing anything useful to the weaponsmith community.

We tend to ignore him now. But one day, maybe soon -you never know - he may post something constructive.

I would still provide more feedback if someone could tell me why it
shows up blank for me via the web.

I'm not sure why its doing that for you. What browser are you using?

The in-game version will be easier for you to use and provide feedback. It will only provide you SWG solutions and it will give you the SOE number that makes it easy for me to locate the solution if you have a correction or fix.

It was full ofunedited clipingswhen I searched it first. Itwasn'tuserfriendly. I can't see repairing it at this time, save it for SWG2. But then again, I'm way up here in the peanut gallery far far away, about to quit overgrouping issues. Seems there are more pertenient thingsin the gamethan spendingtime on than the KB.Useless gesture, long since ignored by most gamers, IMHO

P-U!

How does Logix help and aid the crafting community? He'squick to post a "lewt" list endorsing the components which breakthe weaponsmithsubcomponent industry.

How does Logix help and aid the crafting community? We're still gonna get asked if a Powerup Stock is the same as an Optional Stock.

How does Logix help and aid the crafting community? We're still gonna be crafting EE3s(heat wpns) with BPHs(energy producers).

I havereasons to be disgruntled.Logix needs to get Elite AP2 and radius 5. And stop the redesign of Carbineer in Publish 7. Other classes need repaired much much more than these NS solo'ers, called Carbineers. Like I said in a previous post, a VIP must be planning to play Carbineer.

You know Cirtan, as a result of my long winded posts on these forums each and everyday, I often get stopped in the game, and THANKED. Sometimes I get cursed, I won't lie, but most of the times, I get thanked.

Go right on and iggy me.

Okay guys, the KB is being updated with HOW this works questions, not why. So if you can toss questions of how something works here, I'll bring them in, and get them added for those that don't know

*Side questions: What is the Use Command for Grenades and Heavy Weapons? Is it Throw and Attack? (I ran out and can't remeber offhand lol, I always use them from my Hotbar)*
