Thread: Flamethrowers bugged?

Been having fun with flamethrowers and seem to have run into a bug:

If the target is still on fire when the DOT ticks down to 0 health (seems to be the same case if you one hit kill something with flamer) then the MOB doesn't actually die...

In some cases it just lays there as its health regenerates, yet you can't attack it again (had this on a BH mission where I killed the guy but never got the completed mission message or the cash.)

In other cases, the MOB gets back up and keeps on coming, following you while on fire as its health regens (funny as hell to watch, but still a bug). In these cases I was able to attack it again and kill it.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Fire dot doesn't kill anymore. You do have to use another attack to finish the target off..... but that's kinda hard to do if you can't attack it anymore as you say. I haven't had that problem yet ....

Thanks.

That clears one of them up. I'll have another look and see if the other one is still happening as well.

This happened to me yesterday, and I can tell you I was very frustrated.

I took a BH mission, something that normally would have taken only 10 minutes to complete but instead took 2 hours because I had trouble finding a spynet operative. Anyway I finally arrive at the remote location on Lok where my bounty is located and start flaming him. He...dies...but I don't get any XP or credits because the mission hasn't registered as being completed.

I did lose so and so points of somepirate faction though, but that was the only indication that I had accomplished anything.

I only have tested this on creatures and "normal" mission npc's. When they go down, finish them off with another special or another weapon. Of course I don't know about BH missions, since I ain't one... Hope it gets solved for you.

Really annoying, have 5 rancor bodies hanging around and you don't know that's alive or dead. This need to be fixed since I don't care if the fire dot doesn't kill but it messes up the ones i should have killed.

I did 1k damage to one that just got up but the fire dot just did a knock down and like a trueundead it got back up. I'd hate to keep switching weapons just to kill something. solution could stop fire dot from knocking them down or let the dog burn to death like it should.

I have the same problem. I'll fire an 1800 damage shot at a burning target that only has 900 HAM left, but because of the flame dot bug, it won't actually die. It'll fall down, then get back up with about 5% of its HAM left.

The worst thing is that the fire DOT seems to SAVE them from dying!

I was playing around nuking CL1 Chunkers with my flamer. They all took WAY more damage then they had, but the ones with a DOT would either lie there unattackable, or get up and keep shooting.

I wonder if I could spray these "fires of life" on my teammates to save them from dying?

Nah, the worst thing would have to be when the agro on you dies, but then gets back up without you in combat with it and take off at burstrun at your bike and kills it. I had this happen 3 times today, and it's getting expensive...

Why on earth did they make it so fire can't kill in the first place? O_o

Hmm I've run into this, but I thought it was just NPCs getting incapped. I can't be sure if it's just a Flamethrower bug or something new. I haven't used any other weapons much so I don't knowif they are getting incapped or what.

There seems to be some remnant code floating around there because whenever I kill an NPC using the Fire Dot, i get the change in faction (not GCW faction, stuff like RSF, Jabba, Junta, Townspeople). As the NPC regenerates he will get up and continue his attack and I get to kill him again and get his a second time with the faction shift.
First time it happened it scared the force out of me. I thought they had introduced zombies or something.
